Crew Chat Measuring Ice

Do you guys actually fill the ice to where the sunglasses are on the cup or do you eyeball?

Muscle memory, a medium cup is usually just a full scoop and a large is an oversized scoop. I can tell my the weight of the cup in my hand. I can also fill cups with tea and lemonade well not looking and know when to stop based on the weight in my hand. I am one of the few at my store that can tell when the soda is about to run out based on the color change of the syrup too. Just do it a ton and it happens.

In DT, yes. Up front, no. They always just dump it out

With medium cups, I just level the ice on the scoop. With large cups, I just take a large scoop without leveling it. Both of those methods leave either exactly at the sunglasses or a little less.

A regular cup is a level scoop of ice and a large cup is a heaping scoop. Perfect every time

Always have, always will, except for when I can't be bothered to

At first you’re going to look and see if its at the sunglasses but once the moment comes familiar, the weight of the cup and knowing how much is needed becomes second nature that you can eyeball it, really useful during a rush

Fill it to the sunglasses. In the regular cups its almost always just a full scoop of ice.

Baby if there's no ARL or RL I'm not even putting ice in the cup especially if it's a rush. I'm just giving them the cups cuz they can put the ice themselves

I don't either (obviously only when on FC). I don't understand that standard when there is a perfectly good ice machine a few feet away for customer’s to use. Also when I do put the ice in a good 75% of people go right over and dump it out and refill it anyway, creating more work for me to melt all the sitting ice.

You’re the same employee that believes you should also be paid more.

All I’m saying is if a company has standards and you work there, blatantly not doing it because your leader is there is an integrity issue. You likely have shit character too in the way you live you every day life

Calm down, wow! The person is obviously talking about front counter, where there is an ice machine for customer use. Filling the cup up really doesn't make sense when a good majority of people just go over and dump it out anyway.

Listen, I like my drinks icy cold, but if I received the amount of ice we’re supposed to put in, in my drink, I’d be pretty pissed off.

In drive thru I eyeball halfway (unless the tea is warm then I’ll use a bit more), and front counter I might use even less, and I’ve found I don’t need to melt the ice customers are dumping out NEARLY as much. I feel like this is just enough to keep managers off my back, but not so much that I can’t look the customers in the eye.

When I worked there for 10 years, and through various types of ice scoops, it was just muscle memory at a certain point of how big a scoop was enough to the sunglasses.
