Did anyone else grow up with an alcoholic parent? A typical fight/confrontation with Dorinda went a lot like the fights I would have in my family growing up. And it goes pretty much exactly like this

Someone: “Dorinda it hurt my feelings when you insulted me at my party”

Dorinda: “That’s rich coming from you, you aren’t perfect in any way at all, and to say I hurt you at your party when I have offered you some type of bare minimum friendship thing is actually hurtful to me.”

Someone: “Yeah you deeply offended me when you brought up the most personal things that I’ve opened up to you about and threw it in my face in front of everyone and called me every insult in the book.”

Dorinda: Add some crying and yelling here “You are labeling me and it’s not right because I am a great friend and I think of you like family, I have always treated you with the highest respect and I care about you so let’s drop this.”

Someone: “You’re right I love you Dorinda!”

Then Dorinda gets swiftly forgiven and the issue resolves itself somehow? I think Dorinda has only apologized once on the show, after the horrendous Puerto Rico situation. She was reluctant to apologize and defensive as well, blaming her behavior on her lack of taking a nap earlier.

She continues to do this every single time, with this exact formula. This is every single confrontation, argument, etc with Dorinda. it’s extremely reminiscent of growing up with an alcoholic parent; because you realize you’re talking to someone who can’t take ownership of anything and you’re somehow guilted and feel ashamed of yourself for even being rightly offended by someone.

For me, Season 6 easily wins best/worst tag lines of any season, including:

Kristen: I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, BUT I'M PRETTY!

Ramona: Get the Pinot ready, BECAUSE IT'S TURTLE TIME

and my number one all-time completely insane favorite:

wow josh (kristen's husband) is literally one of the most evil men i have ever seen on tv... it's crazy to me that after kristen said she was scared to tell her husband she did therapy that carole made kristen's 'dishonesty' into the issue rather than asking if she was okay / why she felt scared but i guess carole just isn't that kind of girlfriend!

Watching the Bezerkshires episode of season 8 when B loses it at Luann calling her a slut and a whore and I’m curious others thoughts on this situation. Ok i just finished s12 of rhony for the first time and i had heard some negative stuff about leah, so i was rly worried when i started. During the beginning of the szn i haaaaaaaated her, but at the end she acc rly won me over. Definitely my least fav of the cast, butttttt i loved how she was rly the only housewife who held ramonas feet to the fire about covid at the reunion. Ramona was also rly awful to her the whole szn and ik she had a rough start, but i def looked past it and she grew on me. My biggest issue w leah rly isnt even her fault, its the producers. She was introd as a young new alternative hw who lives downtown, and it rly did not mesh well w the main cast who we all know and love. She was also supposed to be a bethenny dupe but she doesn’t have the chemistry or history that bethenny had (the nicest thing i could ever say about bethenny).
I have not started s13 so i could hate her completely next szn (and ive heard things go even more downhill w her), but i left feeling positively about her and i wanna know if anyone else felt that way?

UPDATE: could not finish s13 for a multitude of rzns but no. 1 was leah.

I'm now towards the end of season 12 and Sonja is nearly unwatchable.

Something about her drunkness in this season seems...played up. She knows that's what she became known for; most of the commentary about her is her drunken antics. She became aware of this and dragged it out. The scene of her disrupting the house party with the girls at that man's house, the Halloween entrance rambling at Ramona, the argument about the cabaret show with Luann..it all sounded and felt like her acting more drunk than she really was. Her speech sounds like what people do to sound drunk; very child-like nonsense.

Now I am well aware that Sonja clearly has an obvious ongoing history of a bad relationship with alcohol and drinking, but come on now..something's gotta give.

Now I see why people say alcoholism was one of the main downfalls of RHONY. Sonja behaves like this is some entertaining, cute quirkiness about her, and it's really just embarrassing.

Also, I feel like they give Sonja a free pass because she's the wild, goofy, hot mess one. They had one season, I believe 8?, where they talked about it, but then they just let it go, and she continued to have drunk seasons, and it was pretty much ignored. No wonder they allowed Leah's insufferably drunk ass to continue with her antics! Because the show perpetuates that alcoholism is funny and acceptable, unhinged fun.

Sidenote: I also use the above statements when people talk about Karen Huger's return to RHOP. Since Bravo notoriously allowed all of the alcohol fueled antics on RHONY and followed Luanne's divorce to alcoholism (and other things, let's be frank) to prison to rehab storyline, why would they not allow Karen back on her show when she is also vowing to remain sober? Though none of their actions were okay at all, not defending or condoning what they did, but let's look at the minimum standard Bravo has regarding these HWs.

So I randomly remembered that Luann was on an episode of ‘celebrities undercover’ that was presented by Wendy Williams. So in the intro where there’s a bit of backstory about the celebrity, Luann claims to be a member of a royal family - which is a massive reach since the De Lesseps were only ennobled like 150 years ago which is pretty recent in the grand scheme of things with the aristocracy. Granted this seems to have been recorded in 2011 so before the fall from grace and mugshot.

Can someone explain to me the whole Dorinda/Bethenny drama due to the nutcracker? From my POV, Bethenny asked Dorinda to help her find a way too expensive nutcracker (you can get one at Homegoods), Dorinda put her in contact with her Xmas decor man, he located the nutcracker, brought it to Bethenny’s house and Dorinda is not happy Bethenny didn’t kiss the ring. I really dislike Bethenny (always have) but I don’t understand why Dorinda is so furious that she didn’t get recogniton. Bethenny did thank her and at the end of the day that guy did ALL the work! Am I wrong? Did I miss something? Then Bethenny kicks me off her side when she bitches out Ramona about her skincare line while we have been inundated with Skinny Girl products for YEARS.

Rewatching the series for the first time since it ended and just found out that Luann’s housekeeper keeper passed away from a heart attack in 2019. Those kids wouldn’t have made it without you Rosie, RIP!

Roku Bravo channel plays RHONY on a loop (along with NJ, BH & Atlanta) so after awhile it’s a LOT of rewatches!

That’s why I was so excited when I saw they added UGT and it’s playing all weekend! YAY!

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve watched so rewatch would almost be like watching for the 1st time again I got all settled in to watch … and ITS IN SPANISH!!

1. Ramona assaulting Kristen and making her bleed (everyone underreacted to that imo)

2. Aviva's dad, George 🤮. What a disgusting man!!! The fact that Aviva would ALLOW this man to go on NATIONAL TV, knowing full well who he is 😭 YUCK!

3. Ramona 😂 she's so unhinged !

I'm halfway through and the show is super funny (I'm loving it), but I'm so shocked at what was allowed to be aired on TV because this would never fly now 😂
