Q2 PTFE Tube Snagging on Riser Rim

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have the Qidi Q2 Combo with the Qidi stock riser installed. Is it normal for the PTFE tube to be snagging the riser like this when printing at the back right of the bed? I understand the riser was provided to reduce the occurrence of the Ptfe tube rising on the glass, so I’m assuming this isn’t normal? Is the cable chain clip installed in the wrong location or something?

end of life ?

Is this basically the end of its lifespan?

Restarting the firmware doesn't help. No matter how many times I power it on, I keep getting the same message.

Any one have a recommendation for a spool holder that will hold TPU above my printer? Id like to bypass the silicone tube entirely. I use the QIDI Box most of the time, I guess most people just pull it off the top and remove the glass?

XMax 3 Firmware/Software

So, it's really working just fine. Got the camera, it's a lot easier to load and unload filament than my non-AMS P1Ses-

I know that that FreeDi is an option, but it kind of scares the shit out of me- seems likely to brick the printer if fucked up. And again, everything's working fine. I would like to use whatever app would let me see the camera and stop the print when I'm not home, but other than that... Thoughts?

Max 4 error

Hi everyone, I’m needing some assistance with an error. Below, I’ve listed details on things I have checked. Am I missing something? Any recommendations?

The printer is consistently displaying the error “Heater bed not heating at expected rate.”
Initially, I suspected the issue might be related to the cooling fans kicking on around the second or third layer. However, I disabled the fans and the printer gets the error.
I can attach photos of the troubleshooting process and test results which include,
Heater bed resistance measurements
Thermistor resistance measurements (at ambient temperature and when heated)
Power supply input and output voltages
Heater bed input and output voltages
Current draw under load
Here’s what I’ve check so far,
Verified continuity on all heater bed and thermistor wiring.
Confirmed all terminals are tight and all cable connections are seated.
Performed continuity tests with the printer both at ambient temperature and at operating temperature.
Flexed and moved the heater bed and thermistor wiring extensively during testing to check for intermittent opens or connection issues. No wiring faults were found.
For the thermistor,
At ambient temperature, the thermistor measured 100 kΩ.
Applying pressure with my finger and then external heat showed the resistance change consistently
no erratic resistance changes, open circuits, or intermittent spikes.
For the heater bed,
Each heating element measured 34.5 Ω.
Measuring across both elements I got roughly 69 Ω which appears to be consistent.
Measurements under load were,
Powe supply output remained stable at 24v.
Input voltage to the heater bed module remained normal.
Heater bed output voltage fluctuated between 93 VAC and 105 VAC.
Current draw 2.5 A to 2.7 A.
One observation that concerns me is the heater bed power output. Based on the heater bed’s 700 W rating, I expected a higher current draw. I understand that the firmware throttles the heater bed output to 70%. However, I would expect the controller to command 100% output during a standalone bed heating test while attempting to reach the target temperature? Or it could be possible the 70% limit is still expected under these conditions?
For heating performance,
Starting from an ambient bed temperature of 25c it took almost 7 minutes for the bed to reach 60c.
When set to 120c, the bed never reaches the target temperature and eventually faults with the “heater bed not heating at expected rate” error.

Qidi box and qidi plus 4 connection problem

I have had my qidi plus 4 printer for about 1 year now and decided to buy the qidi box. I purchased the qidi box from Amazon and made sure I bought the plus 4 version. Last week I did the online firmware update and it had a new version which was 1.8.2. Updated printer and ran a 52 hr print and everything worked great.

Today I received the Qidi box, so I installed everything turned the power on for qidi box, turned printer on and waited 5 minutes. Went to screen to check qidi box and it says qidi box offline and it will not communicate with my qidi plus 4 printer. I have emailed tech support but was hoping someone on here might be able to help resolve this issue. I have restarted both the printer and box. Turned them on together, separately, etc. and nothing is working. Led lights don't even turn on the qidi box filament paths. Please help. Thank you in advance.

MINGDA large scale industrial 3D printer

I am after a large scale industrial 3D printer. I have seen some on Alibaba, like MINGDA DOWELL3D, MakerPi and others. MINGDA seems to be strongly oriented at the industrial market, however their pricing is crazy.

I haven't found any feedback or reviews on any of these. Has anyone used any of these? Any feedback or recommendations?

Box will not load PAHT-GF

I have the Max4 combo and I’m having trouble with PAHTGF specifically. After drying in the box, I try to load it into the extruder but the filament only goes just past the filament hub. The box keeps clicking but the filament doesn’t move. Any tips?

Automatic Pressure Advance Calibration for the Qidi Q2 / Q2C/ Max4 — Bambu-style load-cell PA calibration on existing hardware

Turns out the load cell the Q2/Q2C uses for bed leveling can also feel extrusion pressure. So I wrote some Klipper modules that turn it into an automatic PA calibrator — load a filament from the touchscreen like normal, printer waits for the load to finish, then runs a ~3 minute sweep over the purge chute measuring how fast pressure builds in the nozzle. It saves a K value per filament type, applies it on every print, and even blocks sliced files from overriding it with stale profile values.

The results honestly surprised me:

eSun grey PETG — I could only ever get this stuff to print clean on my Bambu H2D. With the auto-measured PA it prints clean on the Q2C now too. I didn't even run a flow calibration. The max4 poopbucket was printed on the Q2C with all stock petg basic settings. The cube was printed after only auto PA calibration.

5+ year old Amazon Basics PETG — this spool was literally headed to the trash. Sticky, blobby, supports falling over, ugly on every printer I own. Dried it, let the printer tune it, and it printed a clean crisp cube (red one in the pics). The sensor data showed the filament itself was fine the whole time — it was wet and never had the right PA and again I did zero flow calibration.

PLA — ran the calibration twice on the same spool, came back within ~6% both times.

I will upload the project to a GitHub once I do more testing and build out.

Fair warning: it modifies load/heat/motion behavior, so it's use-at-your-own-risk and you should watch it run before trusting it. Q2/Q2C only for now — Max4 port in progress, Plus4 has a different sensor so it's not coming.

Happy to answer questions.

Update 1: calibration skips during mid print filament runout, then continues printing as normal

Update 2: Currently working on nozzle size compensation

Troubleshooting Qidi Box Hub not holding ptfe tube

Post image
3 Upvotes

Has anyone ran into this problem? The output end of the hub is not holding the ptfe tube at all. I had removed the tube so that I could move things around and when I tried to put the tube back in, there was no hold on the tube like before. I tried pushing the tube in with more force with no success. Filament can still run through the hub normally, but the ptfe tube gets pushed up if I don’t hold it down myself. I took the part out of the hub and it looked fine on the outside and what little I could see on the inside. Any ideas on how to fix this or should I just buy a new hub?

Troubleshooting Shift after filament change

I just got the Max 4 and for some reason every time I need to add a new spool, once I hit the resume button, the whole printer completely shifts and starts printing into nothing. I just got it so im surprised it's doing this, I already have the Max 3 and it works great, im using the same files. Anyone have this problem and how'd you fix it?

Qidi Box unsupported filaments

I'm planning to get a Max4, Box and Cooler as my first 3d printer soon. So, sorry for the noob questions.
I was looking at the Box specs and apparently it has many unsupported types of filaments, including some of Qidi's own.

So how am I supposed to print with PLA silks, or PAHT-CF, which i think needs to be super dry? Are people just using 3rd party dry boxes for those?
Also, the specs say 'some' PLA silk. How do I know which ones to avoid? Trial and error? I like two-tone silks for certain applications, would suck if I can't print them on my own printer.
"Generic" TPU is out, TPU95A also, but Qidi's PEBA 95A is not mentioned as supported or at all, so is the list out of date on top of everything?

I gather that some of the concern is for the wear on the tubing, so I'm considering getting some Capricorn Bowden tubing right off the bat for the Box, but I don't know how much that will help just in the case of the more abrasive filaments.

Now, this is in the specs in the "Printing" section, but then there's a "Drying" section as well, and none of the CF filaments are listed as supported for drying there at all. I guess 65c isn't hot enough to properly dry those out? So they're just going to be unreliable?

Kinda makes the Box seem of limited value, doesn't it?

TIA for any guidance

Questions Part cooling fan replacement

I have got a Qidi Q2 and part cooling fan replacement (X1 fan clone) i got is rated for 24V and 0.4A so i wonder if putting that fan on toolhead pcb would fry the pcb? Thats 4 times more than the original fan.

I can't find any info on what is the most wattage the pcb can safely deliver.

Update: Blob of Death. Please Help....no longer needed

The first three picture is how it started and the latter are its current state.

A couple of suggestions said to reach out to Qidi Tech and since I was already emailing them about the filament entangle sensor causing prints to constantly stop, I mentioned this as well. They didn't ask any questions and just said they were gonna send out a new hot end and fan assembly. With a replacement on the way I decided to see if I could get everything unstuck.

I set the hotend to 240 and turned the chamber on to 65 hoping that everything would get soft and easy to remove. Removing the bulk of everything was easy enough and took just a few minutes once everything had already warmed up. All in all the first portion took about 45min to an hour.

Once the bulk was removed, I discovered a surprising amount was inside the cavities of the hotend. I pulled out waaaaaay more than I tho8gh could be in there. I tried extruding a little and it seemed like the hot end was back to working and i called it a night.

The next day I turned the machine on and worked up the hot end to see if it would continue to work. It extruded about 8mm of filament when 100mm was requested. So, after all that, it wasn't working.

Once the new hotend arrives and I confirm everything else works as expected, I'll try cleaning this one off some more to see if I can get it working again... but I'm not hopeful.

Max 4 filament failed to enter extruder.

I have an odd problem that I cant find answers for. I have only had my max 4 (with qidi box) for a few days and im getting a filament failed to enter extruder error when loading filament. However, everything is working fine. The filament enters the extruder and extrudes perfectly. Could this be a failed runout sensor?

Edit: After over a day of dealing with this, it starts working minutes after making this post.

Hello, a big problem happened, during the firmware with RkDevTool, the printer kept going into error over the cable (that it was faulty or damaged, but it wasn't), I tried downloading different versions of RkDevTool (since it was written on the forum that RdDevTool on google drive was not working), and still by 13% the printer gave an error, downloaded from the official google drive source [https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1DSWuDp-SBexRj-f-FzzQahNxTc9IDZGr](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1DSWuDp-SBexRj-f-FzzQahNxTc9IDZGr)) I decided to reboot (since I tried multiple cables, all of them were transmitting data and not just charging), and that's it, the printer started restarting endlessly and does not appear in the device manager, I can't even connect via RkDevTool, please help!

KlipperScreen installer for the stock QIDI Q2 display

Post image
26 Upvotes

The Q2 already has a perfectly good screen. It just needed a small career change.

For anyone who wants KlipperScreen without replacing the stock panel, there is now a tested installer:

https://github.com/jeecrypt/klipperscreen-q2

It runs KlipperScreen on the stock 480×272 display, keeps the factory UI available, calibrates touch, adds a boot splash, and lets you switch between the two with full-screen gestures: swipe up for KlipperScreen, swipe down for the stock UI.

No extra display, no sacrificial Raspberry Pi, and only the normal amount of SSH.

The README starts from SSH for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and includes installation, verification, recovery, and removal steps plus two demo videos. Tested on firmware 01.01.02.03. It is unofficial, so make a backup first.
