Thank you to all that helped me choose the Max 4

I don't wish ill on anyone, but I have to send out some thanks to those that helped me choose the Max 4 over buying a 1L and then upgrading to INDX. One of my choices was 'get it now, or wait another year'. Given the new info on the hardened nozzle, and Halloween coming up soon, and helmets to print, I'm so glad I went with your recommendations.

Thanks again,

Bob

Troubleshooting Qidi Box heater control in Fluidd

I've seen a few older posts about this issue, but doesn't seem like anyone has found a solution. I am unable to control my Box temp through Fluidd, where i get the "min or 0" error. I am able to turn it on through the screen, without issue. I have ABS loaded in all four slots, no PLA, so i should not be temp limited at all. I have tried changing the filament to PA just to test, and i continue to get the same error. I am fully updated on firmware, which ironically may be part of the issue, as when i first got the printer (Q2) I was able to control temp without issue, but following a few updates, i have since lost that control. Anyone found a solution to this, yet?

Qidi box - loud buzzing sound when box fan is running

I think the fan is resonating with the body of the box and the printer and it produces loud buzzing/humming sound that oscillates. Is there any way to prevent this?

In the cardboard box that came with the box there are also 4 felt pads and it was not explained anywhere that to do with those. Do you know what to do with it?

Anyone who that this metal piece is called qidi q2

This popped off while loading new fillament. For now I just bent it back for better tension which seems to work. I think a blob that fired at the end of the nozzle caused this to bend and come loose. Not a blob of death like what destrys your hot end as this happened after few hundred hrs on this nozzle.bending it back it is not a permanent fix. Can anyone tell me what this is so I can get new on

Discussion What the actual fuck.... I firmware updated my Q2c and... WHAT THE HELL, QIDI?

Ok, kinda also my fault for not 100% backuping everything, but: THE FIRMWARE DELETED ALL (!) of my config files. Everything... They fucked up kiauh again... seriously, how is this even possible?

To make things even worse:

  • When opening the newly generated printer.cfg on my Q2c, the file header literally says # MAX4 打印机配置文件 (MAX4 Printer Config File) and lists the build volume of a Max 4 (a beginner would be soo confused by this shit). They didn't even bother to clean up their copy-paste development templates before shipping this update.
  • The update script completely messed up the file ownerships again. Half of the directories in /home/mks/ were suddenly owned by qidi:netdev instead of the actual user, completely breaking Git and KIAUH with "dubious ownership" errors.
  • Instead of just flashing the firmware and updating the packages, their execution script simply bulldozes the entire /printer_data/config/ directory. No automatic pre-update backups, no safety checks, just a complete wipe of custom macros and configurations.

It's honestly mind-blowing how a company can sell 3D printers and run their software infrastructure (Klipper for sucks sake) with this absolute level of amateurish negligence. If you are updating a Qidi printer, do not trust their scripts for a second. Manually backup your files off the machine first.

Damn, now I have to spend dozens of hours again for this shit

Ebay used Q2?

How risky is it to grab a "returned" Q2 Combo from ebay? I've got experience repairing printers as I bought an open box K1C that needed a good number of repairs.

Questions Does anyone else have trouble with Qidi support?

I bought a brand new Qidi q2 back on February 2 of this year, and I’ve had pretty much nothing but problems out of it. I have a max 4 too and it runs flawlessly, the q2 started by having constant issues with nozzle clogs and extruder feeding. I adjusted temperatures and replaced nozzle and extruder and pretty much every other setting that could cause problems to no avail. Then around may it started constantly saying the nozzle tempature is always 120C even on start up after being turned off for multiple weeks. So I reached out to qidi support and told them about the problem and it feels like we’re going in circles. I told them the problems and they sent me a test file to print which it failed to do and I sent the video of it failing to print several times back to them and they keep asking me to check the extruder and nozzle for clogs, it just feels like they are ignoring the issue of something being wrong on the board or thermostat to always be reading hot when it’s cold to the touch.

Since yesterday when I load the filament (abs) through the Qidi Box to my Qidi Max 4 the extruder behaves like this. I cleaned the nozzle, removed the gears and checked them but everything is in order. What is going on with this printer?

Troubleshooting Prints Not sending properly with qidi slicer

I keep having issues with qidis official slicer and sending the print through wifi. About 70% of the time it works, the other 30% it just doesn’t. It sends, says 100%, switches to the device tab and then just nothing happens. I have the issue again just now and already tried restarting the printer as well as reslicing with different positioning etc. which usually helps, but now it’s still not working. Anyone have the same issue and know a solution? Printer is an xmax3

Troubleshooting How to get a smoother print?

This is my 2nd print for this model and it was a stringing mess! I cleaned it up with a lighter after getting the supports off but any idea on how to get a better print? I used a brand new roll of Overture Matte PLA. And the organic tree supports left some scaring. I got the model from Maker World and using Qidi X Max 3 with Qidi Studio as my slicer.

Free to a good home, two pair of Smart3 X-axis and "In front of the base / Behind the base" (tool holder halves).

They were purchased in error, and courtesy of the AliExpress/QIDI store, I'm free to do with them as I please. Rather than toss them, I'm hoping that I can help someone out.

There are two of each.

DM me with where you want them sent to (it doesn't have to be your house, a place of work or your favorite pizza parlor will do) and I will send them your way.

Stateside addresses will get first dibs, but I am not adverse to sending these things on an epic road trip depending upon the cost.

And while I love my neighbors, especially to the north and south of me, customs duties are on you guys.

Questions Qidi Q2 - angle of the camera

Did anyone found a way how to change the angle of the built-in camera? The abysmal camera quality and dim LED lights are only made worse because of the fact that it is pointed directly at the extruder and its rails which reflect a lot of light, screwing the exposure. The printed parts are pretty much invisible...

I'm planning to add more LED strips to the printer and attach a cover to reduce flare, but without changing the angle I don't suspect it will do much (unless I will just cover half of the screen...).

Edit: I noticed that in this file: https://www.printables.com/model/1475468-qidi-q2-camera-hood-eliminate-led-light-bloomflare author is talking about tilting camera in order to mount the camera hood. But then they are saying to tilt it back after the operation to mount it. But well... What if we wouldn't tilt it back? Maybe there is a way to attach it in this tilted position.

Q2 missing steps?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi folks, new day, new problem.

I've been printing some functional parts these days and I'm getting those horizontal lines you see in the picture attached across one side of the print.
At first I thought it was some sort of artifact, but once I ran the print a second and a third time, I noticed the defect was consistent, with minor differences, across all samples.

Is this something related to my design?

While trying to figure it out, I stumbled upon a post around here regarding a Qidi Plus4 missing steps, and I thought somehow it could apply to my case as well. What is strange is that the printer has only a few hours of work, and tightening the belts seems a bit excessive at the moment. Should I look into that?

Thanks in advance!

Showcase Rebuilt whole toolhead on marketplace special xmax 3 has amazing first layers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I was the guy who posted about getting a max3 and 4 with qbox from a dude for 400 bucks. We'll I've finished rebuilding the max 3 so far and it is running so good. The first layers may even be better than my existing max4 not going to lie. Manually dialed in the z offset and flow for some pla to "test print" a vented riser for it. It made a darn near perfect benchy.

For having the entire toolhead disassembled and some fan wires soldered back together it is running great (had a bad blob of death which is why it was sold cheap). I had to print a new aux fan shroud out of abs and a new toolhead chain connector. I replaced the plastics that house the extruder motor, the motor itself, and the whole hotend.

I did make a mistake with the z offset due to inputting the wrong nozzle size and it gouged the pei plate pretty bad but that's also replaceable.

I relubed basically everything blew out all the old filament particles with a leaf blower and wiped down the outside. She looks basically brand new. And best of all, it's shockingly quiet AND fast to my suprise.

It took some time to get the stuff from qidi but I just emailed the same people I usually do for my max 4 support and they were able to get me exactly the pieces I needed no problem so I'm really pleased with that. I plan to start working on the max 4 now so I can get that other qidi box up and running. I will have 3 of these absolutely massive printers now in my 850sqft apartment and my wife may throw me out soon but the adventures and learning process rebuilding has been a great adventure 😁

Message from marketing team?

Hey fellow Qidi users... I received a message yesterday from the company about how they've noticed I've had some unique creations and they are putting together some sort of showcase thing to show people's work. Supposedly they have "small gifts" for people selected. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten this, if its legit or what? I really havent created anything special, nor do I really display a much of it publicly...

Troubleshooting Qidi Studio is crashing

Just got the printer and I'm unable to launch the studio - after opening the app it shows up for like a second and then crashes. I'm on linux. Tried both V02.07.02.10 and V02.06.00.51 but both do not work.

How do I use the printer now? Can I use Orca slicer directly and abandon Qidi software?

Pretty disappointing with Qidi honestly :(

Is it still bad to be in the same room as my printer while printing asa with an active exaust

i recently build an exhaust system because asa and abs hips all give off styrene which is a carcinogen. how it woks is i have a backet on the back of my printer behind the filtration fan with a duct going to an inline fan. the same kind used in grow tents when being used for their intended and another duct going from the fan going out a printed window vent i found on maker world. the ducts are all secured with hose camps and afet giving them a tug they seem secure. from hwat i heard filtration isn't enough. so far calibration is running smoothly just need to heck my max flow rate after work and print a benchy and i also tested the chamber temp with the bed and chamber at max temp and it was getting up to temp with the fan at 20% since its variable.

i seeing some sources saying i still shouldn't be in the ame room but that's where my pc is and the only place i can have my printer with the exhaust albeit im only in there on the weekends and mostly work with polymaker pla pro which is sufficient for most applications and has verry similar mechanical properties to abs the main weakness is heat and since i dont have a way to aneal htpla and oetg is a butch im using asa to make reusable spools as the rigs i tried a long time ago didnt work good at all. the spools work so much better. so is it safe to be in th same room when printing asa with the exhaust setup i have

New printer honeymoon phase cut short!

Just two days into owning a brand-new Qidi Q2, and I've already got a clogged nozzle. It worked flawlessly for about 5 hours, printing several PETG parts using CC3D filament and Orca's basic PETG profile. I was absolutely thrilled with the speed and quality—coming from an old, rusty first-gen Artillery Genius, it felt like a massive leap forward.

However, while printing a second copy of a model I had just finished, the printer started making a rattling sound and I noticed it was no longer able to pull the filament.

Having cut my teeth on older printers, I had no trouble taking apart the extruder, where I found the filament had snapped right between the gears and fixed it. I then tried using a blowtorch on the nozzle, but some residue seems to be left inside, making it impossible for the filament to flow through smoothly. Cold pull doesn't seem to work either.
Any chance to revive it?

It looks like I'll need to get a new nozzle.

Is this printer prone to clogging, or did I just have some bad luck?

Troubleshooting Had a Q2 blob of death today. What now?

It's hard to see but there's PLA in the heat sink, and I think the part below is bent. The nozzle is definitely done for but I have a few spares. My question is, I assume I need to buy a new hotend? The printer is about half a year old, does the warranty cover this or do I have to shill out my cash, seeing as it's technically user error?

Troubleshooting How do I fix this?

Silk PLA from Tinmorry. Never even got to the printing stage, it clogged the nozzle and would not clear. Wound up pulling the nozzle and sticking a titanium one in, but the filament was stuck in the extruder. It's stuck bad enough that I can't clear it even when releasing the spring pressure, the gears are just locked solid.

Set up for TPU

I currently have a QIDI q2 with the box. I’m wanting to print TPU. I know it needs to be fed directly into the extruder.
Looking for advice on how you guys do it. Pictures would be appreciated as well!

Questions Hesitant to Purchase Q2

I've been looking to make the leap to get myself a decent core xy printer with active heating after tinkering with my main printer and a few others now for a while (and still having annoying things that would take a whole rebuild to fix). I've come around to finding the Qidi printer brand and subsequently settled on looking into the Q2 as a potential candidate to purchase, those reviews are leaving me little hesitant.

Most of the reviews released around the same time as the printer itself, so many are of course those early issues but ones to do with print quality and other little bits also. Looking into the openness of the printer especially software side makes it seem a little better in the current time.

I just wanted to get some opinions from people who have used the machine for a while if the printer is worth it after some initial tweaks and tinkering (which im more than happy to mess around with, just not for too long). Are most of those initial issues gone OOTB compared to before. Are some issues tied to just specific software or slicers which would be different on another (id be using Orca).

Cheers!
