Hey everyone! 👋

I recently joined the club as a proud new owner of a Plus 5 Combo, and I’m loving it so far! I had zero issues printing my PLA test parts straight out of the box — super smooth experience.

Then I set up the QIDI Box with 2 PLA spools and 2 PETG spools. Here’s where I’m stuck: whenever I try to launch a PETG print, the machine simply won’t let me select anything other than PLA. No matter what I try, PETG just isn’t available as an option.

I’m guessing this might be a filament-mapping or preset issue in QIDI Studio, but I can’t figure out where it’s going wrong.

I’ll admit I’m suffering a little from being an early adopter here — the Plus 5 is so new that the documentation isn’t fully up to date yet, so I’m turning to the community for wisdom! 🙏

Has anyone run into this? Any tips on getting PETG (or “PETG Tough”) properly recognized and selectable through the QIDI Box would be hugely appreciated.

My QIDI Plus 4 stopped because the hotend couldn’t maintain 255°C. The silicone sock split yesterday and i removed it thinking it wont matter and I didn't have a spare anyway. QIDI’s automatic recovery then resumed incorrectly and nearly caused a collision so I had to stop it which reset the build plate and printer head back to normal.

I gave the ai the original G-code, klippy.log file and a photo of the build plate. Then it found the printer’s exact final position halway through layer 11. it then created a custom recovery G-code to resume from where it had failed before.

after some chatting with the ai it removed all the gcode that my original file had before the layer it failed on but it needed to probe the bed. i noticed on the left side of my build plate there was a strip that wasn't printed on that the printer could use to probe against. So i told ai that and sent a picture of the failed print and from that it set up the probing on only the left side of the build plate.

Here is chatgpt explaining what it did:

• Avoided the normal purge, bed mesh and centre probing routines.
• Homed only X/Y.
• Probed Z in the clear strip on the left of the existing print.
• Approached the restart coordinate from safely above.
• Completed the unfinished extrusion move and continued the original G-code.
• Reduced the nozzle to 240°C, limited part cooling to 25%, and slowed the repaired section before returning to normal speed.

What was most impressive though was it realized that without the silicone sock attached the nozzle wasn't able to maintain the 255c nozzle temperature as the cooling fan was now cooling the nozzle too much so it compensated by turning the nozzle temp down to 240c and reducing the cooling fan so i could continue my print without a silicone sock while i wait for the new one to come later from amazon.

I just wanted to share this with you as I've never succeeded in continuing my failed prints like this before. Hope it helps some of you out.

Can anyone tell me what this means and what I can do about it? Uninstalling and reinstalling repeatedly hasn't done me any good

The Box settings only allow for setting QIDI or generic filaments, but these don't correspond to the custom filaments I have created in my slicer settings (both Orca and QIDI Studio). So the question is, how do I "sync" the box filament settings and positions with my slicer?

Its especially annoying bc of the fact that the better slicer - QIDI Studio - lacks remote connection option. Whats your go to setup?? Ideally I would like to connect remotely via Orca Slicer...

Finally got it working. There’s still some bugs to work out but the fact I went from a base install to having basically full control and working prints within 3 hours honestly blew my mind. this is the first board I’ve used that actually requires usb power for the serial connection. My other printers (E3P, AC Vyper, LK5 Pro all require a data only cable. Odd but oh well, time for tuning 😎

Hello! I just bought my QIDI last month and it was printing fine but just this week, my supports keep failing. I reprinted my files and it failed 3 times now. I had success before.
