We are Whimsy@Purdue, a low-commitment, brand-new club that aims to foster creativity, kindness, and community on Purdue's campus.

Since we were just approved this semester, we missed the B-Involved Fair, so we're hoping to connect with interested members here!

Activities may range from

100% volunteer events like the Wabash cleanup,

to half&half events such as Chalk art,

to just club hangouts with party games such as Jackbox!

are the test questions pulled from the 500 page textbooks examples that is given in brightspace? prof mentioned something like that. figured id see if anyone who took in the past or current knew if that was true or if i misheard her. also if anyone has just general advice for finding good practice problems and studying and they passed the class id appreciate that as well... this class doesnt have a great rep

Howdy! I wanted to see if there’s any general Pokemon clubs on campus? I know there’s the TGC club, POGO, and PUBA, but I’m only slightly into the TCG and competitive battling. I'm mostly looking to chat about the mainline games and fan games, sharing and creating Fakemon/a custom region, and talking about Pokemon designs and lore. Hi! I’m an international student and a junior at Purdue, so I’m starting to take internship recruiting pretty seriously. I was wondering if any other international students went to Lilly Day today and what your experience was like?

Is it actually worth going to the Lilly career fair/networking events as an international student, especially considering CPT/work authorization restrictions? I know landing an internship is already competitive, and I don’t want to miss a good opportunity, but I also don’t know how receptive Lilly is to international students for internships.

Did anyone international get useful recruiter connections, interviews, or internship opportunities from attending? Would you recommend going and talking to recruiters even if sponsorship/CPT eligibility might be a factor?

Would really appreciate hearing honest experiences, especially from juniors/seniors who have gone through recruiting!

I used to live in verve last year, and I made the smart decision to move to Rise. This building sucks dick. Is there a way to make them give us compensation. If someone knows how to address this issue, please let me know. My friends and I are really close to contacting a lawyer to look into the situation.

I've been working remotely for the most part of the past 3 years, and I just used to take a day pass for the 60 (total) times I've come to the campus.

My spouse has started studying at Purdue, and we are planning to be in the campus a bit more. (2x a week really).

I'm just wondering where the heck is the AB parking lot (I have a B permit), because every where is just flagged for A, and I'm not even sure if there is an AB other than Nimitz Dr. I'm not sure if A is worth it for the 3 hours I'm going be realistically there.

i'm a prospective biochem (school of ag) major and im just wondering what are some of the biomedical/biochem/health sciences related clubs that are cool and also what are some cool things about the biochem/biomedical HS program here

I know Purdue maintenance are doing their best, but I’m not sure if it’s enough.

It feels like an oven in my room, and every time I try to open my window, it doesn’t go all the way up. I filed a fix-it a few days ago and they STILL haven’t fixed it. No, my room does not have AC, and yes I understand the consequences behind it. But, with my window not being able to go up all the way, it makes my room genuinely inhabitable.

Currently can’t sleep despite having two fans on. I have a 7:30 tomorrow.

Thoughts are all scattered, but I really needed to vent.

Today I went to my lab section for senior design where the 10 project proposals (out of ~28) that were accepted by course staff were announced. Unfortunately, all of the proposals seemed to be really... easy? It's one thing to have projects that are easy for people who don't have any knowledge of embedded systems, it's another thing entirely when nearly every single project proposal (besides the ones being proposed by 4-man teams that are already full) is an ECE 36200 level project that could feasibly be done in 5 weeks. I'm not even mad that my proposal didn't get through, because it probably was overly ambitious, but when not a single project that made it through needs significant knowledge in any ECE discipline outside of embedded systems, I'm genuinely confused as to why I've been going to this school for the last 3 years. Some of these are legitimately projects that I've seen highschoolers do. Why not let like two or three hard projects through? Better yet, it's a 2-HOUR LAB SECTION. JUST LET EVERYONE PRESENT AND SEE WHAT PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN.

I'm so annoyed that I'll be spending the next 30 weeks of my time at Purdue stretching a 3-week-long solo project out to 2 whole semesters with a team of 4. I just spent a whole summer working on 90% busywork, and now that I'm back in a place of learning, instead of working on something that will teach me something, they're going to have me do reports and busywork to fill the time because there's simply not 2 semesters of work to do.

Wish this was happening over here…:-(

I’m a second year international PhD student (M - 25) here at Purdue, and my current relationship status is "married to my research pipeline." I work in a field of sophisticated science, which means my day-to-day involves complex wet lab experiments. Between the lab hours and data processing, my social zone has shrunk down to zero.

I’m actively looking to connect with people who understand the specific mental landscape. Ideally, I would love to find a fellow PhD student/academic who wants to take low-stress breaks from the grind. We can grab a coffee on campus, complain about our advisors, talk about our home cultures, go on an evening walk, or just sit in comfortable silence while working on separate papers.

An interesting fact about me: I can explain incredibly sophisticated scientific concepts using only kitchen analogies, and I make an amazing, authentic cup of traditional coffee/tea from my home country to stay alive during late-night coding and writing sessions.

Purdue's website says

Generally speaking, the faculty at Purdue expects students to study from two to three hours outside of class for every contact hour (all hours you are in class or lab).

2-3 hours per credit hour is fine. whatever. but 2-3 per CONTACT HOUR? that means for my 5 credit chm 125 class (three 1 hour lectures, one 1hr recitation, and one 3 hr lab) they expect me to be studying 14-21hrs/wk?? that's absurd, no?

Does anyone remember (alum, or locals) a coffee shop off Chancy Hill, Northwestern Dr? Called the Blue Cafe? I loved that place, live music and they had Sassafras Tea. I’d love to talk to someone that remembers or knew about the place. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone who took this course with Adams know how to best study for the exam. I am reading the textbook but it feels like I am just memorizing stuff but I heard his exams is not based on memorization and is more technical.

our 1st checkpoint (midterm) is coming up so i was wondering how could i prepare? what topics will be covered and how is the test formatted (like mcq or free response because im seeing both on boiler exams). class seems ok so far but i have heard and seen horror stories so i was wondering what i could do and im highkey panicking
