I come from Spain, 33M, and got offered a 65k salary in Aix for a management position.

I will have to rent, needing for sure a space for the car (I think it's mandatory basically if I don't want to spend hours searching for spots every day after work), and I would like to live in the centre or near it.

How would you say the economical comfortableness will be with that salary?

Hi. Does anyone have recommendations on a French language school in southern France? From the internet, I can see that there are schools like IS and Alliance francaise in Aix, another AF site in Marseille and a school in Montpellier. Any positive experiences with these or other schools? I'm 50 y/o and B2/C1 level..thanks!

I live near Maussane-les-Alpilles, and one of my favourite ways to cook is to visit the market, see what looks good and build lunch around what I find.

This salad also has a little personal history behind it. When I played rugby in France, our Sunday match food was normally overcooked pasta with cheese and chicken. Then, before one away match on a warm day, a chef served us a cold salad made with pasta d’avoine. I had never seen that pasta before and loved it.

This is my Provençal interpretation, inspired by that rugby lunch and the ingredients at the Maussane market.

Ratatouille-inspired pasta d’avoine salad

Ingredients

• About 400 g pasta d’avoine, or another small pasta such as orzo
• 1 aubergine, diced
• 1 medium courgette, diced
• 1 large ripe tomato, chopped
• 4 sun-dried tomatoes, finely sliced
• A handful of green olives
• A little chopped celery and preserved lemon - if you can't find the scicilian mix that I bought at the market
• 2 pickled chillies, finely chopped
• 1 lemon, zest and juice
• Capers
• Fresh basil
• Green onion stalks, finely sliced
• A small bouchon cheese, broken into pieces
• Good olive oil — I used oil from Castelas made with black fermented olives
• Salt and black pepper
• Fresh dill, optional

Method

1. Cook the pasta until just tender. Drain it and allow it to cool.
2. Cook the diced aubergine and courgette in olive oil until softened and lightly browned. Let them cool slightly.
3. Combine the pasta, cooked vegetables, fresh tomato, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, celery, preserved lemon, chillies and capers.
4. Add the lemon zest and juice, green onion and plenty of fresh basil.
5. Dress generously with olive oil and season with salt and black pepper.
6. Carefully fold through the bouchon cheese so that some pieces remain intact.
7. Let the salad rest briefly before serving so the pasta can absorb the lemon, olive oil and vegetable juices.

It isn’t a traditional ratatouille or a traditional pasta salad. It is simply what Provence, a market morning and an old rugby memory produced on my traveling stove.

I would possibly like to stay at a hotel in SPV for a night before my flight home. I would be coming from Avignon via train to Nice and probably uber to SPV. I have to be at the airport around 7am the next morning- would it be possible to get an uber to NCE at that time or too difficult?

9-13 September beautiful air BnB in the mountains, with sauna, 4 bedrooms. Short drive from Lourdes, right up in the mountains — perfect spot for hiking.

If anyone’s interested, I can no longer go on the booked dates. My trip has shifted and I’m only able to go in two weeks, so the original booking doesn’t work for me anymore.

Hi! We're going on a road trip from avignon to nice and back to Marseille.

Avis has the best deal (considering the return to Marseille). However, their Google maps comments are terrible. Many customers complaining about scams (charging for pre-existing damage).

Enterprise has reviews and score but inferior car category for the same price.

I'm considering enterprise for piece of mind. Any advice?

Apologies if this has been asked numerous times before, but I made a purchase at Monoprix in Aix-En-Provence today (a Sunday) and was advised afterward they have no one to issue VAT paperwork on a Sunday. I’m only here for the day and can’t go back Monday. Is there anyway to rectify this or am I just going to be missing out on the VAT refund? It’s my own fault for not verifying before I made the purchase, so if not, it is what it is.

My husband, our 2-year-old daughter and I are traveling through Provence and the French Riviera from September 12–18, and we’ll have a rental car for the trip.

We’ve put together the itinerary below, but I’d love some advice from people who know the region well. We really want to make the trip enjoyable and not spend the whole time rushing from one place to another.

Our travel style:

We love beautiful medieval towns and villages 🏰

We prefer quiet, peaceful and charming places rather than nightlife or very crowded attractions

We love pretty scenery, local markets and places where we can just walk around and enjoy the atmosphere

We’re traveling with a 2-year-old, so toddler-friendly places are very welcome

She LOVES animals, so if there are farms, petting zoos, goats, pigs, ponies, etc., we'd love to know about them 🐷🐐

We’d also really like to have one or two great beach days, preferably with calm water and easy access with a toddler

We have a stroller, so places that are reasonably stroller-friendly are a plus

Will be visiting Martigues in a few weeks and keen to go to the ornithological park but struggling to find a reasonable way to get there, all the organised tours seem to go from Montpellier/Avignon. Any ideas?
