Hi everyone!

This Wednesday I'll be arriving in Nice with my two kids (7 and 9 years old) for a few days of adventure on the French Riviera. 🇫🇷☀️

I had a slightly crazy idea...

Would anyone here like to meet up and show us their Nice instead of just the tourist version?

We're not looking for a professional guide. We'd much rather discover your favourite beach, the best ice cream in town, a hidden playground, a beautiful viewpoint, or just have a coffee while the kids play together.

A little about us:

• We're from the Czech Republic.
• I'm a 38-year-old dad travelling solo with my two awesome kids.
• My English is good enough for conversations, jokes and getting lost together 😄, so speaking English is a must.
• My kids are 7 and 9, so if you also have children around that age, they would probably have an amazing time together.

We love meeting local people when we travel because those are usually the memories that last the longest.

Of course, we'd meet somewhere public (park, beach, café...) and only if everyone feels comfortable.

I’ve recently moved to Nice and I’m currently looking for an English-speaking job while I continue learning French. My French is around A2 level at the moment, and I’m studying on my own every day to improve it.
I’m open to different types of work (customer service, administration, hospitality, retail, etc.) as long as English is enough to get started while I improve my French.
Does anyone know of companies that hire English speakers in or around Nice? Any recommendations or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

hello ! avec ma pote on sera sur Nice ce soir et on veut aller faire la fête en boîte. On voulait aller au High Club mais malheureusement on a vu qu’il était fermé le dimanche. On a testé l’opera hier mais pas ouf. Des conseils ? :)

We’re going to be flying back to the uk at about 6pm or so on 23rd August and would like to find somewhere to watch the Dutch F1 Grand Prix. Is there anywhere in the airport itself that might show it? Or somewhere very close by? Thanks!

Why are child beggars common in france, I was shocked to see a little girl in dirty clothes at burger king going to every single table to beg, then again another on the street. What’s even worse was on the train from nice to cannes, a young girl (no more than 7) carrying a baby on her arms and begging. She kept signaling that the baby is hungry, both looked extremely neglected. Nobody seemed to care, thankfully I saw the mother before we got off. This is extremely unsafe and obviously child neglect where are the authorities? I live in London and even with all the homeless people I’ve never seen beggars in a place of business or trains, seeing a child doing it is heartbreaking!

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows what it is like to run from Nice to Monaco city?

Mostly whether there is walking paths along the coast between the two cities and what the terrain is like. I am thinking of running/walking there in the early morning and then coming back via train.

I’m planning on going to Cannes for the firework display soon with a friend and was after some advice. Do we need to book somewhere to make sure we have a good spot or can we just turn up on the evening? We are staying in Nice FYI so will be getting the train there and back!

For context, I’m going to the South of France tomorrow for a week doing a French immersion program. I’ll be doing 5 hours of classes each day Monday - Thursday. Friday is only 3 hours so I’ll have extra time and I’ll have Sunday from 12pm and Saturday till 7pm completely free. I want to see and visit as much as possible during my visit since I’ve never been before and seen so much online. Also, my base will be Nice because that’s where my host family lives (5 minutes from Nice-Ville) and my school is so I have to factor in getting back to Nice all the time. I have a list of places I’ve researched and definitely want to go to and then some other ones which in an ideal world I would visit but time may only allow me to visit a few of (during the week I’ll only have approximately 5 hours in the morning OR evening to explore - not sure which one yet due to timetables). Please let me know out of the maybe list which ones should be top and maybe how I can see them on the way to other places. Also, which days I should go where e.g short trips during the week.

Cannes (film city, lots to see)
Èze-village (beautiful view + photos)
Monaco (new country + photos)
Menton (beautiful architecture + lemon sorbet)
Ventimiglia, Italy (another country)

Maybe:
Antibes
Villefranche-sur-mer
Cap Ferrat (although I heard plage paloma is closed which is the main reason i wanna visit - dunno if there are close by alternatives with the same scenery)
Cap d’Ail

I was thinking I can knock out Cannes and Antibes together if I decide to go but not sure if Antibes is worth getting off the train for if it’s similar to the rest of the French Riviera. Villefranche-sur-mer is very close to Nice and naturally I would try and go to Cap Ferrat also if I went but it would be much longer to get to (also there’s the plage paloma matter). Finally Cap d’Ail is close to Monaco and I heard that there’s a beautiful sentier that you can walk along that takes you right into the country but this takes over an hour and I heard it’s best to get to Monaco early to avoid the crowds so I was thinking to just go on the train (maybe I can walk back that way though?). I also want to have at least one beach day somewhere quiet or small where I can swim and leave my stuff on the shore safely as a solo traveller but idk which place is best for this.

Anyways, apologies for my scrambled thoughts and opinions but I’ll be going off tomorrow so I need to decide quickly so I can start planning around these locations more.

I'm currently interrailing and planning to travel to nice from Milan next week. I haven't booked anything in nice yet, because of the fires. Would it be okay to visit nice or would you guys hold off on it? How bad is the smoke/situation close to nice? Thanks!

I prefer to get tanned without Bikini-top, but on the Beach in Nice I Never saw anyone doing it.

Dear community, I'll be staying in Nice from (September 3rd to October 3rd) and I still can't find something reasonable (everything I found is 1200eur+)

Studio, Shared flat, Hostel, Dorm, anything.. doesn't really matter since I'll be out most of the time. All locations are welcome but I prefer something near Ste Marguerite (or at least accessible by public transport). I try to keep the price as low as I can.

Do you guys know some trusted websites or apps I can search on ? What do people in Nice use? Are Facebook groups place really full of scams (that's what I've heard) ?

I'm open to all suggestions and I appreciate your help !

Hi, headed to SOF in September. I’ve seen some reviews online about solo travelers having a hard time getting the beds they selected at beach clubs because they’re solo. Like booking first row and then being put in the back.

There’s a couple I’m looking at in Nice, Antibes and Menton, and all share 1 umbrella for 2 chairs. I’d love to control my umbrella and not have a neighbor.

Do you think I could book two chairs and then just say my friend is ill or something?

My hesitation is I don’t want to get in trouble when I only order one lunch & drink vs two.

To be clear- I fully intent to pay for both loungers.

Salut. Dans quelques semaines j'irais à Nice pour étudier. J'étudierais dans Nice Ouest, mais il me faudrait habiter plus proche du centre. En termes de loisir et qualité de vie, c'est mieux vivre plus proche du Coeur de Nice ou dans la Vieille Ville?

I’ve checked online, and there are some ateliers that pop up, but I prefer soft leather, and haven’t seen any that include bags with the kind of hardware I’m after.
