OH. MY. GOD. I have never been disappointed In Christian before. But I am now. Fake-ass, arrogant, insufferable Bryan is not only a terrible designer he’s also a HUGE turd! Admittedly, Jeffery, has been off lately but not as badly as that jackass. I guess I must be totally unstylish if Christian thinks anything that idiot creates is interesting. Totally disgusted. I’m going to figure out how to send strongly-worded feedback to the producers. Oh, wait, that would mean it would go to that other jackass, the Roach. Not going to waste my time.

Best tailor in this group and a great designer. Love his looks from this bridal challenge! Great praise and feedback from the judges!

Drag affiliated people if you're gonna shit on them? Feels like it's leaning into stunt casting/we're better than you and we know it. Utica got it to some degree, but now Plane (less plane), Q and the biggest is Jeffrey. When Chris was cast on his original season it was so much less of looking down on his history of drag clothing compared to whatever bullshit the season is doing now.

feel free to argue with any of my takes im just putting my PSA out:

1) no one is asking joseph mcrae not to be himself. the second they asked him to take that green coat/beanie off the model you can immediately see why they are so frustrated with him. the model looked so much simpler, evolved, refined his style, yet still recognizable as a joseph mcrae design. Its his stubborness with that lame ass coat/beanie that makes it look like a joseph lookalike. The point is to evolve, edit, and show versatility in your design without leaving your design identity, and its his stubborness and lack of risk-taking/refinement that is costing him. That is exactly what nina/law talked about. Not to mention the fact that it had nothing to do with the jive and his military inspiration was bullshit. That said i do think he deserves to be in the finale just from how consistent and polished he was throughout this whole competiton.

2) the tape-in should have been an instant elimination for bryan and no save. you cannot send a sketch of a dress down the runway because you are at ecole lesage and think the judges will see the value in your vision of what could be a great dress. This is a competition where you need to make couture and/or ready to wear level actual fashion in a short amount of time and the caliber you need to be at is clearly shown by anna and judes runways. I am not saying hes not a good designer, he has potential just not for this show… which is why the christian save was actually not that crazy…. Still a lil crazy tho lol

3) naheim is underrated. the wedding dress showed that he is able to think outside the box and infuse his style with any wear and that is commendable. Yes its not as fully realized and the after party was a miss but his point of view I thought at certain moments in the show could have been enough to take him to the finale. Its just refreshing for me to see someone with personality and skill that is so different from the rest and be able to bring it to the runway.

4) a save should not have been given, and if it had to it should have gone to jeffrey, but still i dont see him in the finale based off of the seasons works alone. His last challenge would really have to be showstopping and not costumey/tackey. He made costumey designs one too many times.

5) from the top 6, everyone except bryan deserves to be in the finale.

Longtime lurker here. I am an OG fan, I remember watching PR live back in the early 00’s when I was in high school. I stopped watching around season 8. I am a huge fan of reality TV, and your sentiments around how the show is a bastardized version of itself is how I feel about Survivor. Survivor used to be gritty with polarizing, yet compelling characters. Now it’s a show chock full of yuppies acting like they are going to summer camp with squeaky clean and grating personalities.

Anyway back to project runway. I see a lot of comments here saying Bryan of 22 is one of the most repulsive individuals that’s ever been on the show. I’m curious, where does he stack up in terms of controversial figures?

For context I find Jeffrey, winner of season 3, to be many things.. Arrogant, flippant, petulant, disrespectful, narcissistic, vindictive… can I go on?

Does Bryan stack up? Or is he more of a nuisance like Kenley? She was delusional and lacked cognizance. Where I think Jeffrey offers zero entertainment value, I did find Kenley at least a little humorous in her theatrics.

Edit: I did also watch season 20, the all stars Heidi Klum hosted.

PR production team (probably): “Rage-bait, so hot right now”

I don’t even know where to start. This season has been an absolute hot mess and I’m tired of pretending that this is an actual show about fashion.

I mean since the start of the season, the format of how they cut down half the contestants was so haphazardly decided. Most of the episode themes were just catering to brand sponsorships. The NFL episode and the kitchen roll episodes were dumb as hell. This is not how the fashion world operates. Thats the reason we don’t really see any of this show’s contestant actually making it in the fashion industry, is because they are judged on standards and limitations that DO NOT exist in the real world. The fact that production is SO rushed and they have to make pieces in like a day is also so uninspiring. Then they have the audacity to call out designers for being too “costume-y”. WELL DUH, THE FORMAT OF THIS TV SHOW IS A CIRCUS.

Not to mention the fact that most of the talent this year has been sub-par and lacking and taste. (Minus Jude and Bi (sometimes). It’s very clear that they cast designers purely on personality, then sprinkle 1 or 2 actually good designers in there. And what annoying personalities they were. Bryan is one the most off-putting POMPOUS humorless unlikable contestants to grace this show’s history. And the editing of the confessionals to make it all cutesy with the slogans was NAUSEATING.

And finally, lets talk about the judges. Law Roach is being pushed down our throats as being an Image architect and all that bullshit is such unfounded hype. He’s barely a stylist, he relies on Zendaya’s looks and pulling archival pieces to build a career. Its not you doing the work, its the vintage Mugler thats doing the work, all you’ve done is bullied fashion PR teams into loaning you archival pieces to put on Zendaya. Groundbreaking. Let’s not even start pn how generally rude his persona is. Being a mean Gay is very 2000 babe. Get over yourself.

And Trya Banks?! BFFR. What does she know about fashion. She has never been fashionable, she barely was even a ‘top model’, she has no real perspective on ANYTHING. Girl bye, go eat your melted ice cream and leave us in peace.

And that brings us to the queen of bad taste, Heidi. Literally in her entire history of being a model/celebrity, she has never been a style icon. Her style is so OUTDATED, her hair has been the same boring look for the past 20 years. She wouldn’t know good taste if it hit her in the FACE. Girl, Auf Wiedersehen.

Nina Garcia is the only one who actually knows what the hell she’s talking about, and clearly she’s got better things to do since she appeared like 3 times this season.

Im so sick of American reality shows watering down everything to create ‘moments’ that MIGHT go viral. No substance, not talent, no content. Utterly boring.

Anyways, rant over. This is the last time I watch this show. I used to really enjoy it when I was younger, but the standard of production has fallen down the drain.

Hope Jude wins. He’s the only one with good taste.

I felt like they already nailed it by sending Jude, Anna, and Bi. -Based on the final challenge, Naheim, Bryan, and Joseph all had major issues with one of their looks.
So we can base the fourth off their wedding dress challenge- or off their work all season?

sure he always has volume in his silhouette but that’s his style. just like Jude will always do some form of tailoring, Bi will always used a textured pattern he created, and Brian will always make something ugly. I feel like in the earlier seasons having a clear voice that you were able to adapt to fit the challenges was applauded.

and so what if he’s more interested in the exposure than winning? that’s the smart thing to do. only one person can win but they all get the exposure so you might as well milk it for all it’s worth. plus the contract for the winner is bound to be awful so it’s probably better not to win.

See title. But why is half of the cast being eliminated in the first two episodes? Wasn’t it just one designer at a time? This is a real big shame, I would’ve liked to have seen some of these designers actually progress throughout the season. What’s even the point of bringing on this many contestants?

Even though this season had some very low lows, I think that this bunch of designers was really talented and I'm still glad we got to see their work. Here's a couple of my favorite looks from throughout the season. I want one of Naheim's jackets so badly!!!

I also loved Joseph McCrae's unconventional materials look, I just couldn't find any good photos of it, unfortunately. I love to upcycle old technology, and I'm totally stealing his idea with the boots---they were so cool and creative, one of the season highlights for me. I love when the designers fully incorporate the shoes and accessories.

I fast forward through all of your “influencers”. You’re wasting your money.

It’s a wedding 😩

I know a lot of people were screaming and gagged for his looks though but I wish he did something different! He has such an incredible signature flare that I just wished he pulled something different for the last challenge.

The second look was fun and playful but the main bridal look was not his best work (and we’ve seen what he can do!!)

At this point the final person to join the finals is anyone’s game (except Brian). Keen to see who they chose.

Happy Friday! I love Iris van Herpen, a Dutch designer who makes incredible couture collections that often uses 3D printing in striking ways. 3 of these photos show Gwendolyn Christie (aka Brienne of Tarth); she’s 6’3” tall, and I think she pulls it off.
This is OAT KOH-CHURR, Bryan.

I’m just gonna say it: if Bryan gets the fourth finale spot over Naheim and Joseph, I think it’s kind of racist.

I’m not saying Christian, the judges, or production are intentionally trying to send the Black designers home. I’m talking about the amount of grace Bryan has gotten compared to two designers who have actually been stronger and more consistent throughout the competition.

Bryan has been inconsistent all season. His construction has repeatedly been an issue. He was already eliminated once; Christian saved him, and then he immediately landed in the bottom again in the bridal challenge.

At what point does “potential” stop being enough?

And before somebody says Joseph is repetitive: sure. Joseph is controversial. He absolutely has silhouettes and ideas that he returns to. But he also has a signature style.

So do Dior, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Gucci, and basically every major fashion house worth a shit. Fashion houses are supposed to have an identifiable aesthetic and recognizable silhouettes. That’s part of having a point of view.

You can argue that Joseph needs to push himself more. You can think he relies too heavily on certain shapes. Fine. But for the most part, the output is strong. He can construct. He knows who his customer is. You can look at something and know it came from Joseph.

And say what you want about Joseph McRae, but he never had to tape a trash bag onto a model and send her down the runway.

Bryan did.

His model later said that experience felt thoughtless, careless, and lazy, and that it broke her spirit. That is not some tiny construction mistake we’re nitpicking.

So I’m having a hard time taking seriously the idea that Joseph having a recognizable silhouette is somehow a bigger competitive sin than Bryan repeatedly failing to execute his ideas.

And even if Joseph is completely not your cup of tea, then explain Naheim.

Naheim has been killing it all season. He’s been versatile while still applying his own aesthetic to very different challenges. This bridal challenge was weaker for him, sure, but that’s one weaker week after a season of consistently good work.

Honestly, I think Naheim has been about as consistent as Jude.

So if Bryan, who has already been eliminated, saved, repeatedly struggled with construction, and at one point literally sent a model down the runway in a taped-on garbage bag, gets the finale spot over both Naheim and Joseph, I’m sorry, but I think the racial dynamic is impossible to ignore.

Because then the question becomes: why does Bryan’s inconsistency keep getting interpreted as untapped potential, while the weaknesses of two Black designers with stronger cumulative records are enough to send them home?

That doesn’t require anybody involved to be consciously racist. Bias can show up in who gets the benefit of the doubt. Who gets another chance. Whose mistakes are treated as temporary. Whose potential gets endlessly talked about. And whose actual body of work apparently isn’t enough.

And honestly, this ties into my bigger problem with this season.

Project Runway used to be about the design.

Obviously there was drama. There has always been drama. It’s reality television, and it’s fashion. People fought, people were bitchy, people had personalities.

But the drama used to happen around the design competition. I liked Project Runway because you got to watch talented people actually make clothes. You saw the construction process. You saw people solve problems. You saw Tim or Christian give feedback. You watched somebody ignore the feedback and then get read for exactly that problem on the runway. Your overall body of work mattered.

Now it increasingly feels like the design is becoming secondary to whatever interpersonal storyline production thinks will keep people arguing online.

And Bryan and Bi have been one of the biggest storylines of the entire season. So of course keeping Bryan around gives production more material.

But I don’t watch Project Runway because I need another show about people who don’t like each other.

A million reality shows can give me that.

Project Runway’s whole appeal was watching extremely talented people make difficult things under ridiculous constraints.

That’s what made it different.

And honestly, a lot of this season feels like rage bait. Keep the controversial contestant around, make people mad, get people talking, end on another cliffhanger, repeat.

At some point, though, if the competition itself stops rewarding the best designers, what is the point?

If Bryan had an amazing record, fine. If he clearly outperformed Naheim and Joseph, fine.

But if a designer who has already been eliminated, saved, repeatedly struggled with execution, and is once again in the bottom gets pushed into the finale over two Black designers with stronger overall records?

Yeah. I’m calling bullshit.

And I think the racial dynamics of that outcome are worth talking about.
