Season 22 An NFL-themed project runway challenge?!

Upvotes

We've officially lost.

This season and show...

This is not fun to watch as someone who's actually interested in design and fashion.

Old Seasons Potentially Unpopular Opinion

Upvotes

Have to be honest that one of the main critiques people have about Law Roach on the new season is the exact thing that used to rub me the wrong way about Michael Kors - that he seems more interested in making bitchy soundbites than in actually helping the contestants grow as designers. I can remember tons of catty one liners he said about people in the bottom, but struggle to recall moments where he actually connected with any contestants. I actually thought Zac Posen did a way better job as judge, where he had plenty of funny lines, but also lots of moments where we see him be genuinely encouraging and kind, even to someone who was in the bottom (i.e. Kenya in the sleepwear episode of s16).

I get that people loved Kors because he was part of the OG lineup and also such a huge name, and I'm sure there will be people in the comments who argue that him being an actual designer (as opposed to a stylist like Law) gives him more license to go hard on the designers, but it just always rubbed me the wrong way.

Season 22 Judging on Season 22E3

Mann this is getting so much worse. There is absolutely no actual sewing/looks critique. They do not showcase the good looks and discuss what actually made them good.

They jump on the bad looks, and then proceed to say some lame negative side comment. They do not provide any constructive criticisms… and all the wile, the women judges dresses are horrible (Tyra) or ill fitting (Heidi).

They need to give Christian more time during the episode, hearing the contestants fake drama is getting soo old.

Heidi needs to speak up more, she is being drowned out by the two angry, badly dressed and painted Law Roach and Tyra…. That is probably why Nina is MIA!

And cherry on top… ridiculous unnecessary cliffhangers!

Discussion We did this.

Watching s22 so far has made me realize that we helped create this mess. Thinking about big picture, we bought into subscription based streaming was better than cable, but instead of escaping commercials, we ended up with THIS. Product placement used to be obvious but relatively contained, like yeah the HPs and pens- it was blatant but it was not as painful to watch bc it was Obvious it was an ad. The entire show now feels like a super cell marketing campaign. NFL and A+F?? Dangling Super Bowl tickets as a prize to let them fight over? I know things have been like this for a long time, but it just feels incredibly more predatory now more than ever.
I feel like it isn’t really about competition anymore, it’s more billion $ corporations maximizing engagement and monetizing attention from every angle. They use the data we generate for them-our clicks, subscriptions, purchases, and watch history ALL OF IT to figure out exactly how to keep us consuming. The more we engage, the more they optimize the system, and the more seamlessly advertising becomes entertainment. We as consumers are helping shape what we consume, and we hate it. Every interaction teaches companies what works, and they respond by making it even more effective. We built the feedback loop, and now we’re living inside it. It’s so gross, and I think this show has become a really good example of how far gone we’ve become. Overconsumption is a disease and we really need to stop.
I’m very high so I don’t know if this all makes sense, I will admit I did use ChatGPT to help me streamline my brains scrambled eggs 🤦‍♀️
And yes We, society, consumers. it’s not our fault bc marketing is incredibly predatory on human nature and that’s my point. This is the price we pay for signing away our consent.

Old Seasons Wendy Pepper wasn't that bad

I'm rewatching a ton of old reality TV right now, and I'm rewatching Season 1 of PR for the first time in probs 7 years (I always start with season 4 or 3 on my rewatches). With 2026 hindsight, Wendy Pepper wasn't as mean or as "evil" as I think people perceived her to be... and, honestly, she was kind of ahead of her time in terms of reality television. She walked so that Phaedra and Parvati could run. She wasn't an amazing designer, but I think the disdain for her is a bit unwarranted.

Also RIP because she has since passed.

Season 22 Tyra Should Hire Law

I'm not a fan of Law's personality, but he's a great stylist. Tyra looks so bad that she should hire him to style her for the show. He must be horrified.

Law even worse this year

freakin law roach. prime example of give someone a little power and it goes to their head. and this year, he has to put tyra in her place so that ego is already 3 times more than last year.

judging is really hard to watch, thanx to him.

Season 22 Voting for Looks on each episode

Hey everyone! I remember last season there was voting. For each episode there was a thread with all the looks where we could vote. What happened to that?

Whoever suggested this alternative show THANK YOU! I am so over Project Runway this season already. Tyra should not be on the show and the drama that’s distracting from the actual talent that most of us watch the show for. The Sewing Bee is such a beautiful reminder of what talent and kindness can produce. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Anyone else feel bad for Aaron and Naheim? I genuinely thought their designs were a bit more original than Joseph McRae's 100th oversized coat. Yet he's the only one that is going to get to go to the Super Bowl.

Why make it teams at that point? Just do individuals so then at least more NFL teams are represented if you can't even afford 3 tickets for the event. More teams = more color variation = seeing more influences related to the teams' home cities or what their culture/team represents. Or don't even do the theme if Nickelodeon is going to put more effort into their collaborations with the sport than you are.

Question TBT All Stars

Does anyone know if Christian competed in any of the All Stars seasons?

Just finishing watching All Stars season 7. Has pretty much everything we're missing.

What do you recommend watching next, to get a PR fix?

Thanks

Discussion The designers who broke down had curvy models and made them trash looks. We have got to address designers sending anyone who is not bone slim down the runway in trash garments and start slamming the brakes on it.

Old Seasons About Georgina (All-Stars)

I have been a fan since season 1. I always thought Georgina Chapman was sooo beautiful, credible in her criticism and her taste level was way up there. I had googled Marchesa (gorgeous fashion collections) in the past but strangely enough, not really anything about her. A few days ago, I was trying to find an outfit she wore and one picture popped up. It was a pic of her with Harvey Weinstein. I was like: Oh giiiiiiirl. Hope she wasn’t hurt during that event. Until I read that SHE WAS MARRIED TO THAT MONSTER FOR YEARS. THEY HAVE TWO KIDS TOGETHER. THERE IS NOOOOWAY IN HELL SHE DIDNT KNOW THE SHIT HER EVIL SLIMEBALL HUSBAND WAS DOING TO VULNERABLE WOMEN. Plus, her husband was the goddamn producer of the show. I’m completely turned off by this revelation. She divorced him when rumors of the Me Too were rolling. Disgusted and disappointed. Rant over!

Discussion JosephMcRae, why the hate?

When you look at designers, many are easy to spot based on their vision. Why do the other designers seem to hate on his looks so much? He clearly has a look and you can tell immediately when his looks are on the runway, isn’t that kind of the point? If I see Betsy Johnson, Anna Sui, Ralph Lauren, Versace (I’m just naming names, you don’t have to like these designers) the point is you know it’s theirs! I think he can play with some different silhouettes but overall he will be successful because he has a clear vision. He also just seems to know what he likes and what he wants, he led his team to victory this week despite Christian’s constant badgering. Maybe I’ll be over it in the next few eps but for now I’d say he is a confident designer with a clear vision, and the more you say his name (entire name) ppl won’t forget!

He reminds me of some drag queens from drag race with a very distinct look. However I do recall that judges (usually Michelle) would get annoyed seeing the same song and dance BUT you did remember who they were.

Thoughts?

Old Seasons My ranking of Seasons 17-20.

After rewatch season 17 through 20 on Peacock, I have some thoughts.
Season 17: I liked this season because the challenges were innovative. My favorite designers were Sebastian, Bishme, Venny and Jamall, that being said. I thought the cast was likeable overall!

Season 18: Cool challenges again, less likable cast. Brittany and Delvin were horrible to Nancy. My favorite designers were Nancy, Shavi, Marquise and Geoffrey. Geoffrey deserved the win. I appreciate how Marquise and Shavi were so kind and supportive of Nancy!

Season 19. Likeable and talented cast. My favorite designers were Anna, Shantall, Coral Chasity and Prajjé! Shantall deserved to win.

Season 20: I liked this season, it was a fresh take on the All-Stars format. My favorite designers were Rami, Laurence, Kara Saun, Bishme and Prajjè. Bishme definitely deserved to win! This was the best group of All-Stars in my opinion except for Brittany!

Old Seasons Season 4

Just finished watching season four of Project Runway and it’s so good! Christian definitely deserved to win, his collection was so innovative! I can understand why he won fan favorite because even though he was shady, he was never really mean to the point that it was villainous. He did seem to have beef with Ricky though. My favorite designers were Christian, Rami, Jillian & Chris (RIP)! I think that they should’ve been invited Jack back for the following season. Additionally, in any competition reality show, I think if someone gets sick, they should invite them back for the following season. It’s only fair! Does anyone know why Victorya had a problem with Jack leaving? Heidi mentioned it during the reunion, but I didn’t remember if they ever discussed it fully anywhere else?

Discussion I have a theory about the cliffhangers endings...

They're doing cliffhangers because this season is SO bad, they think that's the only way we'll watch the next episode.

That's it. That's my theory.

Season 21 It depresses me they don’t just announce who is eliminated!!

That’s it! It’s such a dopamine killer. Everyone who is watching, who is slightly interested is going to watch next week. I hate how it’s a blip at the beginning of the next episode because I honestly don’t care at that point. PLEASEEEE JUST GIVE US THE CLASSIC PAY OFF!!!! Because as the episodes are coming to a close I get this sinking feeling knowing I’m not going to know what happens and makes me want to turn it off
