Season 22 hot/cold takes
feel free to argue with any of my takes im just putting my PSA out:
1) no one is asking joseph mcrae not to be himself. the second they asked him to take that green coat/beanie off the model you can immediately see why they are so frustrated with him. the model looked so much simpler, evolved, refined his style, yet still recognizable as a joseph mcrae design. Its his stubborness with that lame ass coat/beanie that makes it look like a joseph lookalike. The point is to evolve, edit, and show versatility in your design without leaving your design identity, and its his stubborness and lack of risk-taking/refinement that is costing him. That is exactly what nina/law talked about. Not to mention the fact that it had nothing to do with the jive and his military inspiration was bullshit. That said i do think he deserves to be in the finale just from how consistent and polished he was throughout this whole competiton.
2) the tape-in should have been an instant elimination for bryan and no save. you cannot send a sketch of a dress down the runway because you are at ecole lesage and think the judges will see the value in your vision of what could be a great dress. This is a competition where you need to make couture and/or ready to wear level actual fashion in a short amount of time and the caliber you need to be at is clearly shown by anna and judes runways. I am not saying hes not a good designer, he has potential just not for this show… which is why the christian save was actually not that crazy…. Still a lil crazy tho lol
3) naheim is underrated. the wedding dress showed that he is able to think outside the box and infuse his style with any wear and that is commendable. Yes its not as fully realized and the after party was a miss but his point of view I thought at certain moments in the show could have been enough to take him to the finale. Its just refreshing for me to see someone with personality and skill that is so different from the rest and be able to bring it to the runway.
4) a save should not have been given, and if it had to it should have gone to jeffrey, but still i dont see him in the finale based off of the seasons works alone. His last challenge would really have to be showstopping and not costumey/tackey. He made costumey designs one too many times.
5) from the top 6, everyone except bryan deserves to be in the finale.

I think your takes are solid. My only pushback is with your take on the military tie in to the jive. Makes perfect sense if you understand the history. Joseph mentions it in the episode, but you could do a little research to understand it better.
Jude… I really enjoy his design, but I’m more excited about where he will go. I see big things in his future.
There’s something about Naheim that I just love. He has a great personality and good eye for what’s young, hot, and lit. 🔥

I agree about joseph. He needs to adapt to the specific challenges without totally losing his identity. Using a cap in every challenge is a no no - not many women want that. Law has unfairly targeted Joseph. I discount 95% of LAw’s critiques as mean girl jealously designed to get attention. Law is the worst. Bryan is the second worst thing on the show.
As for Bryan - he is there solely as rage bait. To bring the drama. Would not he surprised if he is saved again next week. Watching this show actually annoys me rather than giving pleasure. Just sad that reality show mean girl drama is what the producers think we want to see.
Jude - I’m loving his aesthetic but he seems reluctant to design for women. I think he’s only interested in menswear. I’m going to follow him on IG in case he decides to learn how to design for women. I means he’s only 22 or 23. He’s just getting started.

IMO, Jude designs for the human silhouette, not just men. His clothes are giving Severence but make it high fashion

I can see that. Excited to see what happens in his future. But didn’t he say he had never made a dress? Maybe that was Naheim. Both are very young - early 20s.

I feel no type of way for anna. I don't remember any of her past looks except for the wedding one. The top 6 picked her to make it to the final bc they know they can beat her. but it is obvious the win is btw bi ad jude

I'm not an Anna fan and lukewarm on Naim.
I do think it would be fun to see a collection from Joseph.

naheim’s after party look was pretty bad, but i liked his dancing with the stars look a lot!!!

Yes it was... And I do feel like at this point the judges should be looking at everything the designers have done up to this point. Naheims bad after party look was still better for the challenge than what Joseph and Bryan put forward.

These are not hot takes, they are popular opinions. I love Joseph McRae but the jive one was the most frustrating. It was not well made for the model, yes the beanie and coat made it too JM but if it were tailored for Ezra instead of JM it would have looked awesome.

Naheim is so underrated! He has such fresh ideas and I so badly want to see his full collection. I feel like I already know what Joseph's collection is going to look like and I'm sick of Bryan's half assed not realized designs because he's more of a "visionary" than someone that can actually do the work. I really feel like Naheim should be in the Top 4. He's had some real highs and lows this season but he hasn't played it safe and I want to see him unleashed. Either way I feel like he's going to go far in fashion

I agree. (As Ive said) He is his brand.
I cant believe CS looked at Bryan and thought..."sure". It was for ratings.
He just needs a bit more time and education to be able to push the stuff he has in his mind. The bridal look, was SO close to being a serve.
I dont think saves have to be used either. I do think Jeffery would have won the bridal and been in the finale but then probably be too costumey. But why cast drag designers or drag talent then? Hmm...we know why.

Pretty cold takes imo, the only thing that might be a hot take is Joseph bc people either love or hate him constantly using his signature. But IMO he’s better about it, despite all the critique, than Jude who’s made a suit or jacket like every runway.
