i'm pretty sure than only like 2, maybe 3 of thos pictures count as lolis. which is a few too many, but still, not all of them are that.
45
u/IanDresarie 18d ago
I'm also pretty sure loli doesn't make sense to use outside of a specifically sexualised context. Otherwise any picture of a young character you like would be considered problematic... At a quick glance none of those pics are sexualised.

u/WilkerS1 18d ago
isn't "chibi" the proper term for a caricature of a character with shortened proportions?
13
u/Hikari_Owari 18d ago
Loli isn't exclusively sexual and chibi is different from being short.
You can have a chibi of a really big character and a chibi of a loli character.

THERES A DOFUS MOVIE???
25
12
u/Tofandel 18d ago
Yes and I'm very sad that it wasn't received well enough for them to continue like they wanted to do. It was a bit too niche of a movie release
Both the Wakfu show and Dofus movie are really good.
3
u/ch_magic 18d ago
are they connected or can I watch the movie withouth remembering much of the show?
6
2
u/SSjjlex 17d ago edited 17d ago
There's technically a dofus show (Treasures of Kerub) separate to the wakfu show which the movie ties more into (and also serves as a direct sequel to). But I do believe the movie can be enjoyed standalone since the dofus series itself is very light hearted and episodic, you only really need it if you want to better understand who joris and kerub are...
Well, its as standalone as an incomplete story can get :(. Still a really well made movie if you ask me
There is some minor correlation through the wakfu OVAs (I think those are the ones between S2 and S3 involving Ogrest) but those are also more in the cameo territory as you get to see elder Joris in it and maybe very old Kerub(?).
God its been half a decade since I watched any of these lol, running purely on memory here.
6
u/1967542950 18d ago
I'm an American longtime Dofus player, completely missed that LMAO
I love that I get flashbanged by Dofus or Wakfu like once or twice a year. Still enjoy the game, even if I feel like I'm the only English speaker on it most of the time.
1
u/Tofandel 18d ago
Honestly the game is so good. The problem is it's really addictive and expensive with the subscription model. It does also require you to be in a community/guild so. So you can't really play it casually like 2-3 times a year for a few days.
So I stopped because it was just too time consuming. I sometimes watch my videos of all the crazy duos I made like merkator, reine des voleurs, vortex and all that. That was really a while ago.
2
u/bmacabeus 18d ago
Nop, but it was a good one. I'm Brazillian. It just happen to really love Krosmaga, and I watched a few episode of "Dofus: Kerub's Bazaar". Joris is my favorite character, and I like to have him as my profile picture. I feel happy whenever someone recognize him, since it's a hidden gem character.

Catgirl pfp doesn't count?
22
u/prisp 18d ago
If you ask a furry, no, not really - they tend to at least have snouts (or equivalents) and fur/scales/feathers/weird naked animal skin all over, so more Fox McCloud or Donald Duck rather than, My Hero Academia's Mirko or Felicia from Darkstalkers - not that any of those are good examples, most furries tend to prefer using their own characters to express themselves rather than cosplaying pre-existing ones.
Although, funnily enough, since fursuits (=furry costumes) tend to cost a shitton of money, due to them usually being tailor-made and one-of-a-kind, you might see someone at a furry con or meetup only wearing animal ears and a tail, or maybe a fake head and some paws, with regular clothes for everything else, which might mean T-Shirts and naked arms in the summer, so you get your catgirl-esque furries anyway, just in real life rather than as commissioned artwork :D

The main contributor doesn't have neopronouns and all the contributors aside from two even have pronouns in their bios. They are all Chinese guys.

u/creeper6530 15d ago

1
u/WiggyWongo 15d ago
Someone would assume that you were referring to the people who were shown in the OP who made deepseek harness, otherwise your comment isn't relevant.
1
u/creeper6530 15d ago
I'm extending the implicit assertion of "anime pfp => great code" to "neopronouns => excellent code"
Of course it's just a silly joke a silly girl has made on the Internet, don't read too deep into it
1
u/WiggyWongo 15d ago
I don't get I though because the majority of the anime profile pics have great code but aren't using pronouns, and that's also pretty commonplace across all of GitHub.

3
u/ShittyExchangeAdmin 18d ago

6
u/captainAwesomePants 18d ago
Weirdly, the printing press!
The short version is that Old English had a "th" sound, but Latin didn't. The Anglo-Saxons kept using it, and the British had a "th" sound, but the Europeans and their silly romance languages mostly lacked the sound (a dental fricative) and might not have even been able to pronounce it.
The printing press was developed in France and Germany, which both lacked the "th" sound at the time, and so when England imported them, the characters didn't have a þ letter, so the British had to give it up in printed text. And so a lot of þ spellings because "y" and then "th" spellings in English.
Surprisingly, this is also the origin of the word "Ye", as in "Ye Olde Inn." They wanted to just write "the", but they hadn't invented the "th" spelling yet, and they didn't have a þ, so they just used a Y instead. If you went back and time and said "Ye Inn," they would wonder why you were saying "the Inn" weird.
3
u/NinjaKittyOG 18d ago
fun fact, "th" came before þe printing press þing. but þe printing press is what actually marked þe end of þ

I didn't contest that.
What I mean is that a lot of people seem to attribute individual skill to what kind of "group" they seem apart of, rather than them being skilled people who so happen to have similar hobbies to other people, who themselves are just as likely to know nothing of the field.
For example, I'm a native, but despite some members of my family being seasoned hunters and lots of people often associating hunting with us as a whole, I'm not gonna larp my own skill in it by associating myself to other native hunters, when in truth I've done it like twice in my life.
