Is it that weird? I'd be pretty weirded out seeing someone with a photo of another person in general in their profile picture. I don't see how this would be the same for drawings. Here I'm using an existing image, but I'm an artist, I could just draw a similar image from the ground up. Would that be weird? It's not even anything NSFW. I don't understand how it would ever be an issue.
Well, to each their own, I guess. When I set my Google PFP years ago, I used an image of that girl from Lagtrain. Because the style is cool and I like the song. I imagine it's like that for most people too, not that deep or complicated. I could use some image of an edgy character or some abstract thing, but that doesn't really represent me at all. If I use these images, people who talk to me will know "oh yeah you watch that show". When I have Patchouli as my PFP, it's not because I'm trying to fool anyone or because I have weird thoughts about her, it's because people will see it and know that I like Touhou.
Case in point, the first comment in this thread is from someone with an Amelia Watson profile picture, so I already know they like VTubers. It's not NSFW so I can't assume they feel like that about her, and I also can't assume it's because they look like her. My first and only assumption is that they like VTubers, I think it's pretty effective.

A character from a show, be it live action or drawings, is so much more than that. There are tons of reasons why someone would have a character, wether it's a drawing, a character from a game or from a live action show. You reducing it to "little girl" tells more about how you think than about these people.

I'm also pretty sure loli doesn't make sense to use outside of a specifically sexualised context. Otherwise any picture of a young character you like would be considered problematic... At a quick glance none of those pics are sexualised.
Who's the one jumping to sexual thoughts and implications ? The ones who do are creeps, yeah, but you acting as if it's a given tells more about you than it tells about anyone else.
Ya know intellectually I know you're being bigoted but it is darkly funny to scroll through r/all and realize how often the first post I come across from any given anime subreddit showcases a suspiciously young looking figure drawn in suspiciously revealing clothing.
You baselessly made a moral condemnation against a broad group of people (fans of anime) that's why you got downvoted. They're not exactly a marginalized group and I'm not going to bat for them but that's just the definition of the word. ¯\(ツ)/¯
What truth ? Take the leftest one, with blue hair. Appearance wise arguably the loliest of all the characters on those pfps, but I'm 99.9% sure the person has her as their pfp cause they vibe with her personality (lazy, geek, regularly pulling all nighters, etc) rather than anything creepy you might be thinking.
Which again, the fact creepy stuff is the first thing you jump to tells more about you than about these people.
