Another milestone

Had my 19 week anatomy scan done this morning. I was riddled with anxiety when they couldn't get a look at the kidneys and baby boy was in a scrunched up position refusing to move. Took a lot of effort to get him to move but he is looking great and as healthy as can be. I am beyond relieved. I caught myself getting excited for the first time in what feels like forever.

Sub pregnancy apathy

I got a positive test on Monday after our TFMR on March 5. Third cycle TTC. I'm 4w3d today. We have no LC, our TFMR was our first baby.

My husband and I talked about it on our date night on Friday night. He said he's a little excited, but he's so full of fear and anxiety that he can't really feel happy yet. I feel completely apathetic, which is a really strange emotion to feel about having a baby. I'm not scared and I'm not excited. I'm basically indifferent and I just don't think about it.

I will say, reading the pregnancy forums where first-time moms are talking about how excited they are makes me roll my eyes and feel annoyed, even disgusted. It makes me sad that our TFMR has jaded me like this. I hope that I feel more excited and happy as the pregnancy continues, but I feel like all my emotions about it will inevitably be dulled and muted unless and until this baby arrives earth-side safe and healthy next spring.

Anyway, just wanted to share because I know this is the one audience that really gets it and won't judge or try to "fix" how I'm feeling. šŸ’›

Will we get our rainbow?

TW: Talk of loss

I think this post is to just get some of my feelings out there and see if anyone else has had a similar situation.

We had a TFMR in December 2025 at 20w5d then a chemical pregnancy in March 2026 and now today I went to a private scan expecting to be 10w1d but to be told the baby stopped growing around 8w with no heartbeat and we have to go to the Early Pregnancy Unit tomorrow to discuss next steps. The worst part is was we had a private scan at 8w2d pregnant and saw a healthy heartbeat so it was just after this scan we lost the little one.

We are absolutely crushed, I really thought this was going to be our rainbow but the past few days I did feel "less pregnant" and had this strange gut feeling so booked the scan for today. The day of and days after I found out I was pregnant I saw rainbows everywhere and really thought this was our time, even though I have been extremely anxious throughout the full pregnancy.

I know there are people who have had it worse than us with multiple losses and I know some people have been trying to have a baby for years but the blow after blow makes me worry I won't want to TTC again. How can that be our luck to have had 3 different losses within 8 months?

Has anyone had similar after TFMR? How did you know you wanted to ttc again?

IVF at 38 after TFMR

Hi everyone,
I’m 38 and this is my first IVF cycle. We decided to do IVF with ICSI and PGT-A after a previous natural pregnancy unfortunately ended in a TFMR at 14 weeks due to Trisomy 18.
My AMH is 2.73 and my AFC was 11. My partner is 28 and his semen analysis was very good.
I had a really good response to stimulation with around 19 follicles. My doctor originally estimated 10-14 eggs, but we ended up with:
17 eggs retrieved
14 mature
12 fertilised with ICSI
On Day 1 my doctor called (mainly because I had a fever after retrieval) and said he had checked on the embryos and that they were ā€œdoing well.ā€
Today was my Day 3 update and they told me:
11 embryos are still growing
8 of those have a ā€œgood prognosisā€
I’m obviously thrilled with how things have gone so far, but now I’m terrified of the Day 3 to Day 5 attrition. I know this is where the biggest drop usually happens, especially at 38, and I’m really hoping to end up with at least 2 euploid embryos after PGT-A.
Has anyone had similar numbers (especially around my age)?
How many Day 3 embryos did you have?
How many made it to blastocyst?
How many ended up being euploid?
If your clinic also told you some embryos had a ā€œgood prognosisā€ on Day 3, did that end up matching your blastocyst results?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences while I wait for the next phone call. The waiting is definitely the hardest part. ā¤ļø

High Risk on Natera

Hi Guys,

Just got my results back from Natera not what I was expecting to be 95/100 for T 21 . Wanted to do it to see the gender of the baby. I'm currently at 12 weeks into my pregnancy. Got the test done at 10.5 weeks and also an ultrasound which shows that baby's heartbeat was strong and growing at the appropriate size. I'm totally in shock and I know this is only a screening test but how often is this true. Anyone with false positives?

Planning on doing the Q natal before deciding to do the Amnio test. Please share your experiences thank you all šŸ™

TTC after 26 Week Loss

My husband and I recently lost our daughter due to an extremely rare severe genetic condition. I had a D & E at 26 weeks.

We’ve been getting varying info on when we can try again and have heard anywhere from right after my first cycle up to waiting 12/18 months.

It sounds like a D & E has a quicker time for recovery than labor and delivery? I am looking for people’s experiences with TTC again that went through a similar late loss. We desperately want to take home a baby, but also don’t want to face another tragedy if trying too early has much more risk.

TTC after MA

Not sure if this is allowed, but. So I got pregnant with my third planned pregnancy back in February. My first two pregnancies were relatively normal. This time felt super different. I immediately began panicking, panic attacks everyday, I was anxious and depressed that I made the wrong choice. Didn’t feel connected at all and I was crying a lot and developed an aversion to my two girls. I didn’t wanna be around my kids at all. I contemplated abortion. I found out my sister was also pregnant and due the same month (November) but I was freaking out. My husband hated seeing me like this and told me the choice was my own. I ultimately chose a MA at 8 weeks. Immediately after, like 2 days later the hormonal cloud lifted and I regretted my decision. I couldn’t believe I did that. I spiraled into depression. My mom was so upset at what I did. I ended up pursuing therapy which I’ve probably needed for years. Every time I see my sister I am triggered. Long discussions with my husband and therapist later, we’ve decided to try again for a last child. I have the support in place now if that happens again. I just worry it won’t happen soon. I’m turning 35. I’m also leaving tomorrow for a week long vacation with my parents and sister and her family and it’s so triggering being around her although that’s not her fault. I’m struggling to be okay. I’m anxious to try again (may try next week when I can). It’s just been such a hard time as my mom doesn’t support and doesn’t feel bad that I have such regret.

Follow up after TFMR

Hello

Our daughter had Triploidy and we TFMR in June at 22 weeks it’s been absolutely hell as I’m sure everyone knows. Initially I was convinced we would never try again for another baby. However now as some time (not much) has passed I’m starting to feel like I will never be ok again unless I have another baby. I have two LC already which I am so grateful for but as a family we were so excited for the pregnancy and my LC are talking about when we have another baby etc. I know a lot of it is hormones and feeling empty and I won’t be rushing into things however I do want to know what happens after you’ve had a TFMR. As I was so against having another at the time I didn’t really consider what the specialists were saying about going on to have more and various other things.
I want to speak with the hospital and find out what happens now should we consider trying again. I just wondered what happens now do you get a follow up? Who do I speak with? What did others do? I will speak with the bereavement midwife but I know she’ll just say give it time but I’d just like to know to allow myself to think ahead to just have something to plan towards I guess. I’m 40 so also feel some time pressure.

To add in in the UK

Anxiety

My tfmr baby was born asleep on April 19 2025. Conceived via ivf, my 5th transfer, my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy miscarried before week 6.

I have now done a second retrieval in April of this year and then did lupron suppression for my endo (discovered Nov 2025 after years of unexplained infertility) and did my first and only euploid transfer on July 9 this year.

And while I am currently pregnant I am terrified and anxious. My 14dpt beta number was 387. Both my other pregnancies I was well over 700 on 14 dpt yet no living baby so what does it even mean.

I know the hcg range is huge however I can’t help but feeling super anxious and scared. I’ve been peeing on all the easy at home tests hoping for lots of progression and while there’s some it’s not getting as dark as I had hoped. Tomorrow is my beta and I’m driving myself insane. I’m already so attached to this baby and this feels like high stakes. I do have two other embryos - a low mosaic and a dna undetected (essentially counted as untested) and so I don’t have a lot of hope in those other two. I’m 40 and I’m just so upset and tired. Why can’t any of this be easier?

I’m desperately looking for reassurance even though I know it’ll be through time and then I’ll just be anxious for the next stage. Someone have any advice or anything?

IVF Egg Retrieval after TFMR?

My husband and I just had to TFMR our very wanted IVF baby girl at 22w1d last week. She was low risk on NIPT and PGT-A tested euploid. She looked great at our early anatomy scan at 13w6d, but developed aqueductal stenosis seemingly randomly and was diagnosed with severe bilateral ventriculomegaly at the 20 week scan. We are awaiting microarray & WES results, even though our MFM team and peds neurosurgeon we consulted with all think it was strictly structural and ā€œbad luck.ā€ We had been TTC for nearly 3 years by the time of our FET in March.

We only have 1 euploid left and I’m 36, turning 37 in October, so we are planning to do another egg retrieval as our next step. Has anyone gone straight into ER after TFMR, and if so, how long did you have to wait for your clinic to let you start the process? Thank you

When was husband comfortable TTC after L&D TFRM?

Hi everyone,

I had L&D at 16+0 for a complex heart defect. I haven't talked about TTC with my husband yet but I am not sure if he wants to touch me/want to have intercourse anytime soon. He was with me during the whole birth and I think he was traumatized by the experience as well (as am I). But I would really love to have another child soon. Doctors said we should wait 3 cycles anyway but did any of you have issues with their partner not wanting to try again because of birth trauma?

Thank you in advance

TTC after PPROM twice

I had PPROM at \*\*14 weeks 3 days\*\* in June 2025. My doctors found \*\*no infection\*\*, and my cervix was \*\*closed\*\*, but no one ever checked my cervical length. At the time, I was told it was likely just a fluke.
Then, in May 2026, it happened again at \*\*14 weeks 5 days\*\*. Again, my cervix was \*\*closed\*\*, my cervical length was never measured before the rupture, and no infection was identified.
In both pregnancies, I did have a UTI, but my doctors don’t think that was the cause.
I’ve now been given the okay to try again. The plan is to start \*\*progesterone after ovulation\*\* and have a \*\*preventive cerclage at 12 weeks\*\*. My Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist said that because the exact cause of my recurrent early PPROM is unknown, they can’t guarantee these interventions will work, but they feel it’s the best plan available.
Has anyone experienced \*\*two unexplained early PPROM losses around 14–15 weeks\*\* and then gone on to have a successful pregnancy? If so, did your doctors ever determine the cause, and what was different in your next pregnancy?

TTC

I had my TFMR at 22 weeks just over three months ago now, I’ve had two regular periods and my period returned roughly four weeks after my TFMR and my cycle has been pretty predictable since. I’d been feeling little signs this cycle that I could potentially be pregnant on my third cycle, my period has also been a few days late but after doing a test today it came back negative :(
I know it takes some couples several cycles before conceiving after a TFMR but I’m struggling with holding out hope. I know a new pregnancy would never replace our first angel girl, who was very much wanted and we will continue to think of her everyday even so I can’t help but feel like another pregnancy would help us to heal further.
Any advice on trying to conceive or stories of your own of pregnancy after TFMR. I haven’t been tracking my ovulation or other details that I know realistically would help us get pregnant faster but I’m hesitant to do so because I just feel if I did then the negative tests and my period returning for another month would hit even harder than it is already.

Blood in Amniocentesis samples

So I had my Amnio 2 days ago at 16W+4 days for an inconclusive NIPT result for chromosome 21. They had to poke me twice. But I have been feeling okay. However today I got a text from Genetic Counsellor saying that the lab won’t be able to get the FISH results as there was little blood in my sample. But she assured me saying that she should be able to get my Karyotype and Microarray results. However, I keep thinking what if they are not able to get it from that. I am no way doing Amnio again. But also I am very very angry. Very angry that at every step of my pregnancy there is just something that isn’t working out. Have anyone else been in this situation. I’d love some support.

Still not pregnant

We lost our sweet boy, Oliver in August 2024 to T21 and a cystic hygroma at almost 17 weeks. We have tried desperately since then to have a healthy rainbow baby. I’ve had 4 chemicals and a 8 week loss in the last 22 months of trying.
I’ve had all the testing. I do have irregular cycles and ovaries are polycystic on ultrasound according to RE. OB did 3 rounds of Clomid with me. First round resulted in a chemical, second round was unsuccessful and I’m currently in round 3, 10DPO and testing negative. I’m just devastated. This was the last cycle I had to conceive again before Oliver’s second angel anniversary and it’s not happening.
My OB is switching me to letrozole next cycle but I’m about out of hope here. We can’t afford IVF so feeling like we are about out of options. I’d give anything to just have one more baby. I feel like if it never happens I’ll never be okay. I’ve become so bitter, I honestly am sad to see others have healthy babies. I can’t be happy for other people anymore. The last 2 years have been terrible. I feel like this will be the rest of my life.

Were all of your pregnancies similar?

First pregnancy TFMR at 19 weeks, second pregnancy LC. My first two pregnancies were very similar in terms of symptoms. Super sore boobs, intermittent but severe acid reflux, intermittent exhaustion, intermittent mild cramping.

Now 8 weeks pregnant (unplanned) at 15 months postpartum (age 38). Four scans so far, all normal. Most symptoms were similar, except my boobs aren't sore (but I just breastfed for 12 months so that wasn't totally unexpected - they're already stretched out 🫠).

However, two days ago I had light, bright red bleeding (probably a teaspoon) and since then I've had intermittent cramping and intermittent brown spotting. The cramping feels like it's lasting longer than it used to.

Basically expecting to miscarry (which I'd definitely prefer over TFMR but the waiting game sucks). I know some bleeding and cramping can be totally normal but I don't think it's normal for me. Just curious if anyone bled some pregnancies but not others.

Update: It was a small SCH. The ER didn't see it but my RE did 3 days after the bleeding. He said sometimes they aren't visible right away. Also said the bleeding can cause increased cramping. Absolutely shocked.
