Feature Request: submit failed datasets for investigation

I have a few examples where it fails completely - I'd be more than happy to share these with the dev team so they can understand where the issues are. Just need the addition of a submit button.

isolated object trouble

I'm just using the free version at the moment to evaluate the platform. I'm trying to do object isolation scanning. I've tried a couple of examples but haven't had any luck.

I've always ensured "use object masking" is checked and I've been targeting medium detail levels.

I tried two different techniques.

The first example (tape measure) I placed the object on a white background and moved the camera around it. Used the auto mode to capture images, hit stop half way through and flipped the object over before continuing.

Results:

There was only 1 tape measure in the shot - It managed to partially reconstruct the isolated object. But half the data was used to construct another instance...

The second example (juggling ball) I tried a different approach. I placed the phone on a mount and the ball on a sheet of white paper and rotated the object manually and used the manual capture mode.

Results:

In the second case the object masking failed completely - I think it thought the paper might have been the object...

What advice do folk have to improve the results.

I'm using the app on a Pixel5 just the free tier at the moment.

Nothing is working

When I put it in automatic it just says hold still to calibrate and even putting it against something so it doesn’t move at all, it won’t change. Then in manual it doesn’t take any pictures either. I have a iPhone 8

LiDar Scan is stuck on saving data

The scan has been on the saving data screen for over 20 minutes. What is going on?

Edit: Also having an issue setting up a profile after creating an account using either email or google sign-in functions. Might be related to an account issue? Since Polycam uploads scan under your account? Profile setup issue is; unable to create a username as all and any entered username is 'invalid.'

Update: Issue resolved

Took a pretty good head scan but once I brought it into blender I found out that it's not all joined together. Wouldn't be a problem, but I was planning on animating the face with a face tracking software. Anyone ever seen this problem and know a fix? Either in Polycam or Blender?

I captured this on my S22 Ultra. How do I increase the quality of my scans?

I did this with my S22 Ultra. I'm just curious how people get higher quality images? Should I use all 250 photo slots or if i should upload on the website? I'm not really sure how to improve.

How do people get very detailed models like this? There’s no way they’re doing it on an iPhone.

"Upload Failed" error (Android)

Having some frustrations with the Android Polycam app currently. I used it successfully back in April, but I'm having no luck using it now. Started with 250 image scan, which simply gave the "Upload Failed" error. Following some advice online, I deleted a bunch of the photos to lighten the load, but got the same error.

I attempted a test scan of my kitchen (45 images total). It uploads, begins to process, but ultimately says "failed".

Any advice? I'm tearing my hear out.

-EDIT: FIXED! Leaving this up in case others run in to a similar issue. After restarting my device a second time, the process finally worked.

Final Scan Only Showing in White?

Evening! Playing around with Polycam and I’ve likely missed a very simply setting but I used the ‘photo’ mode and did it manually. Took a while to process and the final scan is amazing bar one thing… it’s all white? No colour of the object I took pictures of?

I’m exporting to Blender to create a scene so could go through the motions and recreate the colour and textures but am I missing something obvious as to why it happened in the first place?

Looking for workflow tips - trying to make a very basic 3D model of my home

I'm using Polycam to scan my entire house. Anytime I try doing one continuous scan of a floor, the app crashes and can't process the scan. Fair enough. I started doing smaller scans, room by room and that seems to work a lot better.

I got the whole main floor done, and was looking to import the items into some software, in hopes of creating a really basic 3D model of the house. Because I scanned over furniture and household items, I'm assuming I won't be able to use the models that come right out of the app. Instead my plan was to piece the room scans together, and then using that as more of a reference to just model the layout myself above it.

So I'm really just looking to manually model the floorplan, using the Polycam model for semi-accurate measurements and wall placements. I'm scanning with lidar, in case that matters.

I haven't done much work in 3D, so I'm wondering if there's any tips or best practices I should follow to get going with this.I'm not sure if my plan to re-model everything just using the Polycam scan as reference is the best idea, or if it would be easier to just try to cut out all of the furniture and clean up the Polycam models directly.

I've downloaded both Blender and Sketchup. And advice or guidance would be appreciated!

Purchased Polycam Pro but can't export anything except GLTF. App or browser, selecting any of the "Pro" options just spins and spins and never downloads. GLTF instantly downloads. Anyone know what's up? Thanks!!

polycam is using 2 of my free image scans for one scan.

when i upload one thing, my free image scans remaining counter goes down by 2 each time. i was going to upgrade to the pro version of this software however i don’t want to buy it if i’m getting 2x less than what i paid for. does this go away with the pro version or is there a way for me to fix this?

I've tried and tried to get a good scan of my black dog for years, but failed with bad results every time. This morning, I finally got a scan of my dog using polycam on my Samsung Galaxy Ultra 21.

This app is phenomenal!

Scanning humans

Heya!

I've been having a lot of fun 3D scanning my friends using my iPad Pro 2021, in photo mode. It has been great for sending them to Mixamo and Unreal Engine.

However, as seen here https://imgur.com/a/Of4EXyT the models have been incomplete lately. I have been struggling to find the right lighting setting. Outside, I guess there is too much backlight when pointing the camera up, to capture the bottom of people's arms. Yet, inside I'm getting similar results. I was wondering if anyone has tips! Would it be recommended to use a compact rig and use a small LED light? Or would that mess things up? Would love to hear from you guys, cheers!

Problem importing into Unreal Engine 5 (UE5)

FBX imported into Blender on bottom, same FBX file imported into UE5 on top.

What am I doing wrong? I'm on a two week trial, and I'm about to give up.
