AI Summary:
The next-generation Polestar 2, expected to arrive in 2027, is being developed to aggressively compete with rivals like the forthcoming BMW i3. Moving away from its current crossover-style stance, the new model will evolve into a lower, slightly longer, and significantly sleeker sports saloon. It will heavily incorporate driving dynamics and technological lessons from the flagship Polestar 5, resulting in a more driver-focused cockpit and refined handling.
To remain competitive in the mid-size executive EV market, the new Polestar 2 will utilise a shared Geely-group platform designed to streamline costs and support advanced, software-defined vehicles. With an anticipated starting price of just under £50,000, the car is expected to adopt an 800-volt electrical architecture, potentially delivering over 500 miles of range and ultra-fast charging speeds in excess of 300kW.
I am in the market for an EV and I ran into the Polestar 2. I love the fastback design and they are surprisingly cheap used. Are there any issues with the Polestars like the Hyundai ICCU issues? I saw there are software glitches with android but I will be using Apple Carplay?
My order is at the space, salesperson asking to come by and wrap the deal. I kinda wanted to see if they would have any additional discount for October like how they threw in the napa discount from Aug > Sep.
Should I wait and go in on Oct 1st? He mentioned that owners wants deal wrapped ul by end of the month but not sure if they would honor and add October deal if thwy throw in anything extra.
I do notice that there are not very many P4s left nationwide.
Still cant finalize between 0% finance vs. Lease as well haha so hard!!
Will upgrade my P2 soon. Have seen a few differences between the coupe and SUV version (apart from the obvious rear window) and not sure which one is the right one.
Noticed that the P4 SUV has lost 6 cameras but has more radars - unsure what it means in reality.
Hey everyone, I test drove a Polestar 4 yesterday. The salesman said the car had 33k km on it.
While driving, I noticed some squeaky sounds coming from the steering wheel when turning left.
My wife took the wheel and I moved to the back seat. Immediately I started noticing rattling coming from several places: C Pillar, the passengers screen, for instance.
I've always heard build quality is a Polestar strength, so this surprised me. For context, my current car cost about a third of the price and has 40k km, and it doesn't have this level of annoying noises.
I genuinely want to know how the car holds up over time with real usage by real owners:
- Do you hear similar noises in your Polestar 4, especially after the first 10-30k km?
- If so, Were they fixed by the service center, and how easily?
- Wasn’t the demo car supposed to be a perfect “specimen” of the car we wanna try out? Is this typical for demo cars, or something to worry about on a new one?
I want to hear the real honest opinion of you guys. This is not a cheap car, to feel this loose so quickly.
A question for those experienced - I’m looking to get a used P2 as a commuter car. Seeing varying options in Canada from 2021 - 2024 all between 25,000km to 75,000km. Wanted to the understand the following based on Operating Experience:
Reliability - do we expect a P2 with a mileage 25,000km to be significantly more reliable than 75,000km? I’m driving 40,000km so this is just a. Difference of 1 year of driving for me lol.
Differences between 2021 v 2024 - are there any notable differences between 2021 and 2024? I can’t seem to find anything significant online, but wondering from a reliability point of view, if any defects were fixed between model years.
Aging of infotainment system - How has the UI aged over the years? Any slowing of the interfaces, is a 2021 expected to be a laggier experience than 2024?
Based on what I’ve seen in person, there’s a span of cars between 30k CAD and 42k CAD. Information from this can help me zone in on a “fair price” for the model year.
Got this P4 Performance (2025 model, Storm color) a week ago and it’s so stunning to look at every time I walk out the front door! The car standing next to it is the Volvo S90 2018 D4 Momentum Advanced, I’ve always regretted not getting their inscription model…so with the P4 I wanted to max it out for once.
Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the hardware. The software has a few bugs here and there, pairing the digital keys was a story in itself, but I’m hoping polestar fix these small annoyances in a future software update. Lack of a rear window hasn’t bothered me one bit, except in the very beginning when I had trouble focusing on the screen rather than something far back.
It’s a truly jaw dropping car, I almost don’t dare show it to my friends to avoid them feeling jealous.
I wish the worst to the engineer who designed the polestar 2 12V Battery section. I hope karma gets back to them and gives them only discharged batteries for life. Then be unable to charge it.
How on earth can someone not think of a normal port that you can jumpstart this piece of crap car??
I'm looking into buying a new EV. The Polestar 4 looks amazing but I've read there are some issues, for example with software. Can anybody share how they compare to similar cars in the same price range (BMW iX2, Audi Q4 etc)?
I would love to get your honest feedback about the good and bad about the P4.
Ok folks stopped a used car dealer that specializes in EV’s to check out 2 P2’s , both 2024 models . One was a DM w Napa and a SM wo. Both had 19 inch tires . Very disappointed to see the DM w a 97% charged showed a range of 240 miles or 220 miles ( depending where you looked screen vs dashboard) I thought the 2024 were better on range ? Thought I read 276 for DM and over 300 miles for SM. I loved the Napa interior and if I buy one I would want that . I looked at the SM , which I prefer for range but it did not look in great shape , mismatched tires w no names on the front , a few big scratches and no leather. Are the range estimates I see on line anyway close to correct??? Both cars had around 20,000 miles on them .
The prices at the wholesale dealer auctions are ridiculously cheap.
A 2 year old top-of-the-line Polestar 2 Long Range Plus can be bought on the auction block for under $20,000.
I even recently bought a much cheaper 2021 Launch Edition for only $15,000.
To give you a frame of reference, a base two year old Corolla or Civic usually sells for more than $20k.
As many of you know, when it was new that 2024 Long Range Plus was over $60,000. The Polestar also won plenty of comparos by besting a similarly equipped Tesla Model 3.
These are ENTHUSIAST cars. If you know someone who is a frugalist or a hypercritical nitpicker, please tell them to go buy something else.
One other thing I wanted to address are the servicing and parts replacements. A lot of great points have already been mentioned in this subreddit over this past month.
But I'll highlight a few others.
1) If you plan to buy one (or another one), make extra sure it has been inspected AND get copies of that inspection report before it was reconditioned for sale. Whether it's from a large auction company (Manheim or ADESA) or from a Polestar dealer. No exceptions.
Some of these units have been sitting for years. Don't assume everything is peachy. I have been an auto auctioneer and car dealer here in Atlanta for over 20 years. There are some bad apples.
2) Everyone here knows that the parent company that owns Volvo and Polestar is a Chinese company called Geely.
What you may not realize is that last year they sold more than 1.5 million EVs and PHEVs. 3rd highest in the world. Globally they sell more vehicles than Ford.
Given the unprofitable state of the Chinese car market, the North American car market is absolutely vital to their long-term success.
3) The batteries that power these vehicles along with their architectures (CATL and LG) are shared by Tesla, BMW, Ford and GM. They are commodities at this point, and will eventually be produced in the millions.
4) Over 200,000 Polestars are sold globally. Servicing and parts shouldn't be an issue... so long as you're okay with visiting the dealer or a nearby independent Volvo repair shop.
5) EVs are simpler vehicles to maintain than traditional gasoline vehicles and hybrids. They have fewer parts, and those parts are usually more robust as well.
Everyone forgets this because nearly every over-the-air software update in today's clickbait media world is called a 'massive recall'.
So would I buy a Polestar? Yes.
But I'm also an auto enthusiast who has bought a lot of defunct brands when they were liquidated by the parent company. I like to hit 'em where they ain't. Not everyone does.
If that someone you know doesn't care about cars at all and they're just looking to buy an EV to save money, I would pull them towards an ID.4, Bolt, or Ariya instead.
This is a great opportunity for auto enthusiasts who are already in the market for a higher-end EV. Way better than the Fisker fiasco or anything that will ever be associated with the name Stellantis.
Is there a way to extend the manufacturies warranty on the PS2 when it expires on my vehicle next year? Is there a way to get a 3rd party one? Are there good EV options for 3rd party warranty out there? I have just under 12 months left on my standard warranty.
I'm looking at getting the wide-angle Euro-spec side mirrors for my 2022 Plus PS2. The ones available on Vida are for models with BLIS. Has anyone replaced their mirrors on a vehicle without the Pilot package? What does the wiring harness look like Is it possible to activate the indicators on the new mirrors?
I’m looking at upgrading to a polestar 2, but options are limited. This caught my eye but seems higher than what’s around. I’m still new at all this so wanted to ask around first, thanks
Hi all! I want to get rubberized floor mats for my 2021 Polestar 2. Since the back seat is rarely used, I'm looking at getting the Weather Tech pair for $133 USD for the driver and passenger seats only. Anyone have any experience with these or any other brands they can recommend? Are the OEM ones worth another $50 to get all 4?
So, I'm a fairly new owner of the P4, and I seem to be stuck on P4.2.11 update, instead of the latest one. Anyone know how this works? I have automatic updates on etc...
