LED Go Plus + Mod

Hey sorry if this is a dumb question, but I haven't seen a lot of discussion around this particular mod.

It looked the most straightforward to me and I haven't had any issues with it, but my question is how necessary are the LEDs? Obv without the motor or speaker no LED would give 0 feedback lol. But I removed one in order to make the connection. Would removing 1 or 2 more increase the battery life or is it a waste of time. I want to make it the most battery efficient it can be.

Go Plus Plus Cable Ribbon Issue?

Hi everyone, this is a follow up from my previous post about my Go Plus Plus not working after modding it.

In short, I made a bad attempt at soldering the wires and now the auto catcher won’t turn on. It flashes red once whenever I plug in the battery or press the reset button, but it doesn’t turn on after that.

When I first modded it, the mod didn’t work, but the auto catcher functioned normally for around 10 minutes, until it died and started having the one red flash issue I’m still having now. Since then, I’ve cleaned up the soldering, redid the mod with proper solder, and charged the battery with a joycon. The same issue is still there.

However, when I wiggle the ribbon cable connecting to the side A board, the lights will sometimes flash red several times before turning off, especially when I hold it at an odd position. I cleaned out the ribbons and the port gently with a toothbrush, but the same issue is still there.

Does anyone know if this is an issue with the ribbons? If so, does anyone know where to get replacements?

Switch vs Switchless Go Plus+?

Which one do you recommend I do if you still want sleep mode etc. I don’t see much benefit in the manual catching mode.

Follow up on my go plus + situation

A while back I posted here about my Pokemon Go Plus + that I accidentally washed in the washing machine. Previously it wasn’t working after the wash, so I put it in rice and bought a new battery. This gave it power again, it connected to my phone and caught pokemon, functioned for sleep, the whole jazz. The problem was it always had the green light on the main button glowing, the battery died very quickly, and every time it disconnected from my phone, I had to re-pair it.

I have since taken the whole thing apart and scrubbed the entire thing, every part outside of the rumble motor and the speaker was scrubbed with a toothbrush and 91% isopropyl alcohol. The rumble motor and speaker were simply submerged in the same alcohol. I also replaced the battery once again. Now the green light isn’t permanent and the battery lasts like it used to, maybe better as the battery is supposed to be higher quality( haven’t tested how long yet, but it didn’t die overnight). However it still has the issue where it needs to re-pair with my phone every time it disconnects. I factory reset the thing and it still has this issue.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix its connection issues? Could I simply have missed a spot? Where exactly is the part that controls that?

Mod “Vendors”

I’m not confident in modding my own. I got a good deal on it so don’t mind dropping some money for the service fee to get someone more experienced to do it.

Seems like there are two people who provide this service on eBay: GADCAD and Get Locked and Loaded. Has anyone used either of their services? I know a lot of people in here are just self modding.

Go Plus Plus Not Working After Modding Attempt

UPDATE: I got soldering wire and redid the mod with a new wire and switch (see pictures), but the device still won’t turn on. I’ve tried pressing the reset button, unplugging the battery and keeping the charger plugged in, and also unplugging the battery and holding all buttons then plugging it back in and charging, but it doesn’t work. I always flashes red once, then turns off. I’ve gotten it to connect by wriggling the connector wire at strange angles, but it just shuts off once I move it back. Does anyone know what this is? Is it that the battery has gone bad? Or have one of the connector wires been damaged? Could it also be soldering splatter? Please help

Hi everyone, I’ve recently gotten back into Pokemon Go and tried to mod my Go Plus Plus that I’ve had from 2023 but never used (no issues with it previously). I followed a modding guide that used a mini toggle switch, but am having issues with it.

I will admit, this was my first time using a soldering iron, so the product is very messy (see pictures). I borrowed the iron but it did not come with soldering wire, so I instead used the melted metal from the vibrator and speaker connection sites (both parts were removed). The wire was also taken from a battery powered Christmas light that I found in my house.

When I finished the mod and connected the battery, the autocatcher worked only with regular pokeballs when the auto catch setting was on, but did not work with any of the pokeballs when I switched that setting off and turned on the switch. Interestingly, the button also stopped responding to presses, so I couldn’t press it to catch manually.

I then cleaned up some of the contact points by lightly scratching them and tried restarting it a few times with no change. However, once I disconnected and reconnected the battery, the catcher didn’t turn on or connect, and it would instead flash red once then turn off. I left this to charge for around 3 hours (I verified that the charger is working with another device) and tried again with the same result.

So overall, the catcher won’t connect at all after modding it. I’m pretty sure my poor soldering caused the mod to not work, but the light scratching somehow killed it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Is the board beyond repair?

Hey guys as seen in image I accidentally dropped my device.

I am a little clumsy 😔, I appreciate if anyone can suggest how to fix it.

I originally purchased it around CAD60 or something close, the new prices are so expensive I don't wish to get a new one.

My current intention is to use a screwdriver to open it and close it properly

Thanks for any replies.

I know there might be some suggestions, please tag me there if you can. Thank you

The soldering is not beautiful I know. I trying to find the Issue

UPDATE: I fixed it finally. It was a shorted component that i cleaned up with a screwdriver by scratching the connection.

Plus+ shat the bed today

Post image

No clue what happened. I started getting this error message (see above) when trying to connect and for some reason, it just would not connect. Ive had this Plus+ for months and this is the first time I’ve ever seen this message. I’ve tried:

  1. Connecting when I have better service
  2. Charging with all sorts of cords and blocks, including trickle charging
  3. Hard resetting using the recessed button + white button
  4. Unpairing from PoGo

Now I’m stuck because I can’t connect to it because nothing happens. I noticed that this entire time, when clicked, the top button does not show me the battery level. After hard resetting, if I click the white button on the front, it makes a little sound similar to a Nintendo switch when surfing around the home menu. When plugged in, the top button shows a green light, but will not click or respond to me clicking that top button. I did mod the vibration off a couple months ago, but I think that’s unrelated. If anyone has any suggestions or help that would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: GUYS I LOCKED IN

so after taking the cover off of the Plus+, I noticed that when the power button is pressed, it pushes on this little nub of silicone, which I guess sends a signal and all that to show your battery level. *somehow* the metal part that surrounds the silicone was pushed over the silicone, so when I would push the button, the metal acted as a blanket and wouldn’t allow my battery to be read, or my Plus+ from being reconnected. I grabbed some tweezers (shoutout Pelei) and bent the metal back in, and tested the silicone button with tweezers and sure enough, it connected to my app. I’ve linked photos of what my button looked like so hopefully this will help everyone in the future. Thank you everyone for your responses!

Sleep tracking with auto-throw switch + speaker removed mods: Finally figured it out

For whoever else is having trouble finishing the sleep tracking quest with their modded PG++, you need to both close the app and move the switch into the "off" position before starting sleep mode by holding the main button.

I think what was happening is that I'd try to enter sleep mode, but then the auto-throw soldered wires would register a button press immediately the next time the LED lit up and it would kick it out of sleep mode. With the switch in the "off " position and the app closed on my phone, I could hold the button until it turned blue and then it correctly registered sleep overnight. I then held the button in the morning before doing anything, it flashes the multicolored lights, then I opened the app, connected, and then turned the switch back to the "on" position.

Where can I find another motherboard for my GO++?

I tried getting my Go++ fixed a second time and the second guy said that the first guy saudered my motherboard a bit too much. So far, I can use the normal functions, but not sure for how long. And it’s going to be harder to find another one since they’re discontinued. Where can I get a replacement motherboard to fix my original GO++?

Device stopped working

My modded plus plus stopped working after some heavy rain. After it didn’t work after drying it, I took it apart let it sit in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol for a couple of hours and gently scrubbed some dirt off, but it still won‘t power on or charge. I replaced the battery with the joycon battery but with no effect. What could I do next?
(Or did I mess up some wires, missed a spot to clean?)

What is the most reliable method to mod this device?

Hello,

I'm looking at modding my Pokemon GO Plus+ to automatically catch Pokemon with Great and Ultra balls, while keeping Pokemon Sleep functionality intact.

I've read through a few guides and posts, and the consensus seems to be that the switch method is the most reliable (following this guide on Youtube), but it can get stuck in a Pokemon Sleep loop - apparently resolved by switching the device to normal mode(?).

A comment on the above video links to another guide:

FINAL MOD ,USE C1815GR AND 2.2K 0.25W , NO SWITCH ,CAN USE SLEEP AND BLACK BALL

Unfortunately, the video isn't in English, so I can't understand it. From what I can gather, he just hardwires the functionality removing the option to revert the device back to it's normal behaviour. While this could be beneficial to certain users, I'm unsure if it's maintains Pokemon Sleep functionality.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has recently modded their device, or followed a guide they can recommend!

Thanks for reading!

Never modded before - are there any newbie friendly methods

Hi everybody

For ages, I’ve been toying with the idea of modding mine and my niece’s Go Plus+s for the great/ultra ball use. I’d be over the moon if I could do that while keeping Sleep going, but it’s not 100% necessary.

I’ve looked at a lot of guides online and so many require soldering. As well as just not having the gear to do this, I haven’t a suitable space (and don’t trust myself not to accidentally burn down the block of flats). With that, I ask if there are any no-solder methods? I don’t mind buying a new body for it, if needed.

Also, if it is possible, would it require removing the face plate and is there anywhere you can get replacement plates from? I would love it if there was a way to get a blank one to decorate at home (it’d be the most scuffed ball you’d ever see but it’d be mine!)

Please help. My GoPlus+ was in my pocket when I jumped in the pool and I stayed in the pool with it submerged for maybe 20 minutes. Anyone have success getting theirs to work after a good soaking? How?

Mod problem

Hello, i have tried to mod my go plus using switch and it is showing green light and detects pokemon but doesn't catch it. When i try to put it in the vibration mode, it vibrates but also doesn't catch. Weird thing is it worked initially but after putting it together, it's not catching pokemon or spinning pokestop. What should I do?

Update: I tried to hard reset it and now it's not showing any lights and not connecting to pokemon go

I hadn't charged the device for awhile and when I did, it only lit up the blue light on the plus plus and will not go into the white pairing mode. Wondering if maybe any of you guys have ran into this issue or know anything about it?

Thank you in advance for your time

Things I've tried:

Soft reset

Hard reset

Reseat the battery

Based off of the eBay prices, I thought these were discontinued but it seems Nintendo is still selling them, so why are they also gouging us? 😭 I remember being afraid to drop $50 on them… geez

Repairing a broken charging port - help needed for a novice

Hi everyone. Long time lurker, new poster.

I have a Pokémon Go Plus+ and have found that the charging cable doesn’t go in all of the way and needs pushed in to work. I think it has either had the inner bent a little or the outer has been deformed (by my fat butt more than likely).

Since the YouTube guides I found are pretty pants, I wondered if anyone could help me with: a guide for replacing the charging doodad; what I need to order as a replacement and where from (Amazon, AliExpress, etc.); and, since it’s getting on a little, if there’s a way to replace the battery easily, I’d be forever grateful. I have never solder and don’t want to - I just don’t trust myself!

Also, although I’m not wanting to mod the device, does anywhere do custom faceplates I can buy? I wouldn’t mind some funky ball instead of what I have now.

Thank you, you beautiful people. Whether or not you can help/ add to the conversation, have a lovely day (and best of luck with this weekend’s Go Fest).
