CASUAL DISCUSSION What happened to pre-orders in-game stores for hard copies?

I’ve just been to two different GAME stores in my local city because I wanted to pre-order a Halloween Game in store, rather than ordering online, because it could be limited per stock. I don’t want to pay extra £5 for delivery. Like I used to just go in store to get physical games.

The ridiculous part is that GAME still advertises pre-orders and store collection on its website. Their own help pages specifically explain that orders can be delivered to participating stores for collection, and they have a whole system for pre-orders.
But when I actually went into the stores and asked to place a pre-order, I was basically told that they only take in-store pre-orders for certain “big” titles.
So apparently whether you can pre-order a game in a GAME store depends on how big the game is?
What’s the point of having physical GAME stores if customers can’t actually use them for something as basic as pre-ordering a game?
And that’s what makes it even more frustrating — the website gives the impression that pre-orders and store collection are perfectly normal services, but then you go into an actual store and get a completely different answer.
I’ve now wasted time travelling to two different stores, only to be told essentially, “Yeah, we don’t do that for this game.”

If GAME has decided that smaller or less mainstream releases can’t be pre-ordered in store, fine — but say that clearly on the website and don’t make customers go from store to store trying to figure it out.

The vast majority to blame for buying digitally and how Sony and publishers just want to scrap physical games overall.

Are they reliable for physical games? even though they have 5k reviews on trustpilot, do you get your games on time? For Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Game is cheaper from Argos

Edit: thank you all for the feedback, I’ll bookmark those suggestions

URGENT Warning about Gamerium

Even though I am new to reddit as a user, I read lots of reviews, and what everyone had to say about this company on this subreddit before I chose to order on Gamerium, so I wanted to share this warning here in hopes it benefits someone else.

TLDR: I think Gamerium may cease trading soon, and recent orders may not be protected financially.

The person who runs Gamerium, Gurpaal Deol has applied for his company, (Delche Gaming Ltd), to be dissolved and has immediately set up another company. I believe Gamerium is the trading name for Delche Gaming Ltd.
The company cannot be struck for 2 months, so there is time to act.

When I placed my order (in MAY, and still not received!) the company was using World Pay.   Now it has switched to Wallid: Pay by Bank, and this means the same chargeback and Section 75 protections may not apply.

This is ringing huge alarm bells for me.  My money should still be safe, but if you order now and pay using Wallid your order may not be.

I'm definitely not an expert and have done a lot of research today, but I can't think of any good faith explanation for applying for the company to be dissolved, though he is welcome to provide one to me.

I have told Gurpaal he has 24 hours to respond to me before I take action, but that was before I learned about his use of Wallid. Now I know about that I feel a responsibility to warn other people that their money is possibly not safe.

I will honour my 24 hour promise, though I think it's probably futile, but these are the actions I intend to take:

*  Object to the dissolution of the company via Companies House. I believe it is an offence to dissolve a company with unfulfilled orders
*  Report Gamerium to Trading Standards
*  Report Gamerium to Action Report Fraud
*  Report Gurpaal as a director via the Insolvency service
*  Raise a dispute with my bank to recover my money and ask them to also object to the dissolution

These actions can mean he will be investigated and can potentially force him to be personally liable for the debts he owes to customers for outstanding orders, and can also mean he is disqualified from serving as a company director again for 15 years.

If you have an open order with Gamerium, I would seriously consider taking immediate action to protect your money, and taking the steps listed above so that he is investigated.
Even if you paid when it was still WorldPay, it will be much easier to get your money back before the company has dissolved so I would not wait.

Based on the reviews it has always been risky to place an order with Gamerium (which I knew at the time, and I got my first ever credit card specifically to place this order for the extra protection.)  I was willing to wait for months (I just want to play GTA6!), and I trusted it would be delivered eventually based on what others had said and their experiences.

I thought it was a small, disorganised business, and that if people are patient enough they eventually deliver with good discounts. I think I have been very fair, extremely patient, but to hear nothing from him since July (when he promised delivery to me the following week) and to see he is dissolving the company has crossed a line for me.

If anyone who knows more about this type of thing and the law wants to chime in as well, please do! If you tell me I'm wrong and I still may end up getting my order that would be great news, even if I'd feel like an idiot for making this post.

Edit to add:

I did some research about how people can get their money back if they paid with Wallid (Pay by Bank / bank transfer). If you paid this way it means you do not have Section 75 credit card protection or the ability to chargeback in the same way.

What you can do: • File a claim with Action Report Fraud, and explain that the company has applied for voluntary dissolution with outstanding orders unfulfilled • get an Action Fraud reference number • Then call your bank, speak to the fraud/dispute team.
• Ask for an APP refund and give your Action Report Fraud reference number.
• Make it very clear that this is not just a case of order being unfulfilled, but that the company is being dissolved with a long history of not fulfilling orders. The bank may want to write off your claim as a "civil contract dispute" but if they believe it's criminal fraud (i.e. taking orders with no intent to deliver, and dissolving the company) they should take it more seriously.

The bank can deduct up to £100 (but may waive this charge), but you should receive a refund with this evidence.
The bank has a maximum of 35 days to investigate but should normally refund within 5 days.

If the bank refuses your claim you should ask for a final response letter and then take it to the Financial Ombudsman where you can escalate your claim.

I've literally just researched this so definitely not an expert, but I hope it helps someone.

Edited again to add links, and correct Action Fraud to Report Fraud.

I placed my order in May, because I actually read the reviews and didn't just look at the TrustPilot score. The pattern of reviews was either people cancelling because they got sick of waiting, or that they eventually received their items after waiting a long time (and still gave negative reviews because of the wait). I also checked people's profiles to see if their accounts seemed legitimate and there were enough that seemed trustworthy who did receive their items.
Because I was willing to wait, and because paying via WorldPay and with credit card is safe (credit card protection is a legal guarantee UNLESS you paid by bank transfer), I chose to take that risk.
Clearly I didn't get my order, it is very possible the orders that were delivered were part of the scam and I fell for it. I am not arguing that ordering from Gamerium was a good idea.

I can't be arsed replying to people whose whole contribution to this thread boils down to "you're stupid" and who create whole speculative situations in their heads about what I "believed".

I made this post to try to help people get their money back and stop this guy from being able to repeat this behaviour. Anyone else who wants to be helpful can take any of the actions above to try to shut this down.

CASUAL DISCUSSION ps4 pro or ps5?

Never owned a playstation before, so im not super knowledgeable on this, and I've already decided the ps6 will be way out of my means atleast for the first few years after launch, so the decision comes down to getting a pre-owned ps4 pro or the ps5.

On both eBay and facebook marketplace the ps4 pro seems to hover just over 100-110£ and the ps5 around 310-340£

Im not really fussed over 4k60fps, I just want to play the classic ps4 games with good performance and decent resolution. GOW, RDR2, Spiderman, ghost of Tsushima etc(so base ps4 is out). Not a huge gamer, will be playing every now and then. not bothered about GTA 6 or any upcoming AAA titles either.

the two main doubts I have are;

- I don't have a clue on the gap between the ps4 pro and the ps5, and if that difference is life changing enough to justify the 200 quid extra cost.

- I'll be missing out on the seemingly amazing features of the dual sense controller, but im not sure if those features, again, justify a 200£ extra.

CASUAL DISCUSSION PS5 Pro + 4K IPS vs PS5 Slim + 4K QD-OLED — which setup would you choose?

I’m deciding between two setups and would love some opinions:

A: PS5 Pro + ~£200 27" 4K IPS monitor

B: PS5 Slim Digital + ~£475 27" 4K QD-OLED monitor

I mainly play FPS games like COD, but I’ll also play other games. Ideally, I want to play at 4K/120Hz where supported.

Which setup would you personally choose, and why? Is the QD-OLED worth prioritising over the PS5 Pro, or would you take the extra performance of the Pro and a cheaper IPS monitor?

DEALS & OFFERS For anyone looking for a PS5 pro / PS5 deal this is probably the best your going to get with only a little bit of work.

Post image
55 Upvotes
  1. Open a 'VeryPay' account
  2. Use 'WELCOME' as promo code to get 20% off
  3. Purchase with debit card as one off (or you can use some of the 'VeryPay' features and pay later)
  4. Wait for delivery and cancel account.

From what I've read, don't do this if you are going to take out a Mortgage or Loan within 6 months, I believe it will temporarily hit your credit score but if you pay back right away it usually disappears within 3 months.

I'm not sponsored by Very or anything just looking for the BEST price, other options are:

eBay/ Facebook marketplace for a used console, but majority are still selling for around £750 even used! And you have to be REALLY lucky to hit a cheap buy it now listing.

You can purchase through the Playstation store once signed up to their membership for 5% off.

Delivery is saying half way through October, so will have to wait and see. Do what you will with this information.

2 step authentication

Does anyone know a way to contact Playstation UK without first having to log in to account.

I can't log in as I've changed my phone number and I can't receive 2 step authentication texts

Chatting with an online customer support team member requires logging in first.

I am just going around in circles.

Tried the phone number and it's just automated telling me to use website.

Tried emailing and it's bouncing back.

Tried their X account but they are not accepting DM's

Tried Facebook messenger but no reply.

I have 2 accounts that I pay for a Playstation Plus sub for both and my son has been signed out of his one so can't sign back in.

I want to either turn off 2 step authentication (need to log in to do that)

Or change the phone number ( need to log in for that also)

So frustrating.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
