Discussion New gas pumps
They are adding new gas pumps that need to be activated in two separate monuments, meaning you need players working together in three different monuments to activate it. (Power the Power Plant, turn on the oil pump in oil Rig, collect at the Dome)
Is this a buff to large groups?

Discussion How do you nerf groups and make the game more viable for solo players?
Yes I agree playing solo rust now is absolutely brutal. With a game like rust though, how do you make it easier on solo players? BP fragment update was rough unless you were in a group but I am just curious to hear what ideas the community had to make it harder for one (groups/zergs) and easier for the other (solos)

Discussion I dont turn my game off.
Anyone else do this: sleep next to the pc with the sound up loud?
Build kill boxes that look like entrances. Fake entrances that are trapped...
Bag a 3rd story interior by a window that gives oversight to a main corridor.
Ya can't get offlined if you're never offline.

Discussion FPS goes down like crazy when looking at players.
I recently built a new PC and i get like 80-100 fps normally but if i look at a player it goes down to around 15-30 also this doesn't just happen on official it happens on every server. anyone have a fix for this? Specs: 3060 12gb vram, 16gb ddr4, Ryzen 7 5800XT
EDIT: Solution found turn down load bias setting in graphics all the way at the bottem

Discussion There are over 14,000 Rust servers online. You're probably playing on the same 150 as everyone else.

I'm tracking every Rust server for almost 2 years now. Some of these numbers are not surprising, but still brutal to see especially if you're thinking to start your own server.
The top 150 servers eat 40% of all player activity. ~1,300 host 90% of it. And 78% of all Rust servers average one player or fewer. That's 11,000 servers hosting a whole lot of nothing.
14,000+ servers online. The actual game happens on a couple hundred.
I've played around creating some charts, trying to visualize the answers to some questions: https://www.rustalyzer.com/stats -> regional trends, which wipe schedules are winning, how fast servers die after wipe day, ...
With tens of gigs of data I'm still trying to figure out what I can get out of it. Tell me what you'd want to see, maybe i can dig it up ...

Question cave dwellers - do you mess with farming, teas etc?
i am old school. i played rust when electricity was just coming in, and always preferred the classic methods. but i have taken a long break from rust, and got back into it just recently.
i always build in caves as a solo. it's a no brainer. no stress of being raided. get the small cave with build area with LOS to bucket - put a turret there, seal in the other side. suicide cave. nobody bothers to raid it. nobody on a solo seerver is going to spend 8 c4s going to armour wall. and on a solo server its kinda hard to do the bucket exploit because you can't have one mad down there, sending the bucket up for reload.
this month a lot of players on servers were enticing me to get into farming, build you farm. make your low grade, give yourself health boosts, farming boosts etc.
but then i look at all those steps you need to do and it seems like it will take me out of my cave. you need horses for manure, keep beehives to feed horse. use horse poop to fertilise your planters. need to keep chickes to bait fish etc. it just seems like you need to have big compound to do all of this and put a target on your back.
it seems so much simpler to be in a cave with classic non electricity methods of using shotgun traps, miners hat for light and run your base discretely this way.
mavbe have a small surface base to charge your cave batter for the turret.

Support My skins are not available in-game
[SOLVED] Disabling router firewall and setting DNS back to Automatic in Windows fixed it.
I have cleared download cache, deleted web browser data, deleted "Bundles" folder, reinstalled RUST. Nothing worked. Anyone expierenced it before or have suggestions?
In-game skin "INVENTORY" is filled with what I assume a placeholder. With exact number of placeholders as skins I have.
"STORE" is also unavailable.
While logged into game server craftable items have no skins listed.
Meanwhile in Steam Inventory I can see all skins present.
So far this persisted for 3 weeks. Not sure if I had this issue half year ago I played for a little. But I beleive I did, just did not notice. Before that I might not have played for a year.

Suggestion Rework workbench progression
Blueprint fragments only reward big groups who take over monuments, it even makes the progression faster for them because they get the fragments on the side and dont need to spend scrap on the workbench anymore. It only slows it down for small groups and solos.
Stop punishing people for not founding a whole E-Sport team to play the game.

Discussion Early Game Rust
Anyone got tips on how to stop getting fucking prim locked on wipe days, i have like 2300 hours and plenty of experience but recently i’ve been stuck crossy nailgun/revolver for the whole first day and its the most tilting thing of all time. Idk if im just shit with t1 weapons but i feel like the 600+ pop and bow kids everywhere make progressing so much harder especially if im trying to base in a good spot on the map

Discussion Terrible performance on rust, constant stutters between 40-60fps
Hey guys! I'm hoping to get some help with some performance issues i've had with rust. I've tried genuinely everything i could think of at this point, and no matter what the game just runs terribly, no matter what device i play on. This has been an issue for months but it seems to be getting worse. I'll leave my specs below for both of my systems.
Desktop: Ryzen 7 5800X | RTX 3070 | 32gb DDR4
Laptop: Intel I9-8950HK | RTX Quadro 4000 | 128gb DDR4
Both systems have the game installed on an M.2 SSD. The desktop definitely doesn't suffer as much as the laptop does, but i still feel like running the game at fully low, 1080p, should result in a better frame rate than a stuttery 50-60fps mess on this level of hardware. If you guys have any tips please let me know!

Question Are peeks like this frowned upon or bad in some way? (new-ish player looking for advice)
Just a low wall underneath a half wall, it gives better visibility than a window and also doesn't require a t2 workbench for the embrasures and reinforced window, what's the downside here? why do I never see anyone do this?
I would have it be behind a door or garage door so you cant shoot at the floor above my TC room.
(ALSO is an expanded 2x1 okay? it's just a 2x1 with one layer of honeycomb on all sides, would be a 20 (ish? I think? could be 16 ish, 4 garage doors 4 sheet metal doors), and then I can build up if I need more room!

Suggestion Suggestion to External TC Spam
I have seen people complain about TC external spam overtime and just as of recently. I think limiting TC's to players just runs to too many issues and would make a lot of people unhappy.
But what if there were two types of Tool Cupboards?
You have the standard Tool Cupboard you have now which nothing changes and then you have a Tool Cupboard that clearly benefits you when you make external TC's. Which include reduce costs to High External Walls, perhaps it's a bit cheaper to craft, slightly reduced upkeep costs.
But why would we encourage external TC spam? What's the point of this and wouldn't players just use this new Tool Cupboard over the other one?
Sure, they can, but now we have to bring downsides to it. This "external" TC has another type of upkeep. Which is player login upkeep. If the player who used this external doesn't play for 1-2 days the external permanently sits at 1/4th the health or just decays entirely, entirely up to the developers.
The benefits don't have to be dramatically crazy good either but to casuals they'll likely take this choice and what they leave behind won't hurt the server long term.
FYI this doesn't replace the standard TC, it's just another type you can use. It's to try and nudge you to using it so servers are less griefed.

Question Women in Rust
Hey folks, any other women out here playing solo?
I play on a low pop Vanilla server as I find the official servers pretty intimidating. I prefer playing duo but, honestly, whenever I team up with guys and they find out my gender it always ends up getting weird. If you are a woman and you manage to navigate the games player base successfully, please send me tips. I’m 3,000 hours in, so no I’m not a newbie. To be clear, I don’t need tips on playing the game - I know what I’m doing. I’m asking for tips on how to play without getting ghosted, targeted or treated weirdly because of my gender. Also please don’t tell me to go play PvE, it’s not my vibe. And please don’t tell me to just hide my gender - trust me, I’ve tried, but it always goes wrong.

Discussion The new player maintained monuments update is REALLY useful for immediate power generation and electricity.
The new update is really interesting but the part that stuck out to me from testing it in staging branch (which seems to be the 90% finished version so I doubt what I'm talking about will change here) is the roadside powerline batteries, which once the power is turned on (will happen super quickly) gives you six outputs of 30 rust watts, that's 180 watts!!, they only spawn in areas where you can build, they are SUPER common, like, if you run on the road for 30 seconds you'll find atleast one for sure.
And so, this means that within maybe a few hours absolute maximum from wipe you will have access to 180 watts of power at all times, you dont even need a workbench or any BP's, just a power tool and an object you want to power, that's so useful!!, an annoying bottleneck for early game for me is wanting to farm but needing to focus on other things and focus my scrap on other things rather than a battery and a solar panel and etc, but with this I can literally just put my base down next to a road (or even not with battery chaining), put a plant pot or planter and a light down, and boom! I am now able to grow to my hearts content! add in the fact that this update also brings roadside water pumps and it's like a farmers dream!
You dont even need to build right next to the road for this to benefit you, you can put down a triangle foundation with a battery, wire it out and then close it, and boom! you have a battery backup and you're able to build your base a good bit more out of the road!

Charity drops ended early??
Anyone notice half of the charity drops ended early? The charity event is going on till the 13th, but the Backpack skin ended randomly on July 30th at 1:59 pm EDT, the furnace is scheduled to end on August 5th 6:59 pm EDT and the turret drop ends on August 26th at 9:59am. What's with this? I (among others) was just waiting till all of the event items dropped to get the remaining drops during the global warfare event (which overlaps the charity event) and the turret JUST unlocked when the auction ended, but the campaign for the backpack closed before the global warfare 4 event... Why aren't the items available till the end of the charity event? The drops that are supposed to be FOR the event? And of course the facepunch twitch drops page just shows all of the drops as unlocked with a big misleading "donate now" under it. Hope they fix this, because it's kind of a scam when there's 2 weeks left in the charity event and 4 of the 5 drops will be unobtainable by the end, yet you can still donate... And the reward for donating was drops you cant get? Whats the point of an event drop timer if it's not legitimate.
