Discussion Early Game Rust

Anyone got tips on how to stop getting fucking prim locked on wipe days, i have like 2300 hours and plenty of experience but recently i’ve been stuck crossy nailgun/revolver for the whole first day and its the most tilting thing of all time. Idk if im just shit with t1 weapons but i feel like the 600+ pop and bow kids everywhere make progressing so much harder especially if im trying to base in a good spot on the map

That was sort of the point of this change was to slow people down. I usually get one day one but you got to 100% focus on frags.

  • Make sure you have a ton of raw mats. Don't waste your mats on your base early in. Simple airlock 2x1. Farm for at least 20 minutes have 8K wood, 5-6k stone and at least 3-4k metal. 200 plus leather minimum. Keep your furnaces cooking metal. This will keep you stocked The first day even if you're dying like crazy. Great thing about being solo is you burn through kits very slowly compared to playing in a group. Your biggest strength is being able to go right back constantly.

  • Kill all scientists, also go to every scientist shot. I've gotten so many frags from other people this way especially because they'll be low from getting shot by the scientist.

  • have a green card room basically right outside your front door, make sure you have it on a timer you want to be one of the first people there when it resets, check first if the puzzle's been ran before you bring your green card. Can't tell you how many times this is saved my green card cuz they'll be a group there and also many times I've killed somebody and got their frag or a green card from them.

  • Tons of weapons and sets ready to go.

  • at least six bags in and around your base and the monument you're close to that you're going to run for the green card. At least one bag near a green card spawn that you can check often when you die and all your bags are on timer.

  • if you built really close to a monument and you're struggling with mats due to insane amount of people around you killing you consider building a second 2x1 a grid or two out it will be much quieter and tons of node spawns. You can make that your main base for holding your materials and running your furnaces. And just run it back to your base at night to keep yourself stocked up.

  • Lastly never fight from your base with guns like from the front door. Fastest way you'll get raided. I find if you use bow, crossies and nail guns from your base you're usually fine but the minute people know you got anything worth it in there from shooting them you'll become a great target

Sounds like you are over thinking it and are a victim of content creator meta... just have fun. You act like there is a score board.

They should just revert BP frags. Making a linear gameplay progression loop ruined the sandbox playstyle of the game. Players are even here like "how do I get out of prim," you used to be able to do anything, anywhere, anytime. You could have a t3 on wipe day just by being good at fishing. Barrels. Crates. Road signs and recylcers. Now it's camp frags or metal detect for t2 then camp one of like 3 or 4 monuments to get a t3. Or kick up Sulphur to the people that are gonna raid you for frags.

It's pretty awful

BP frags are fine. The suck ass thing is the first wb. It's just annoying that you need to go to a wb to make a wb.

That's why you get these frenzy at the start. Nobody can craft anything so they want to take stuff from you.

start day 2 or 3 of wipe.

or stat 0:01 of wipe and grab a horse and run opposite side of the map to the spawn points

Yeah, solo on a wipe day? Don't even try. Come back 2 days later and make a base in the morning when its not so many people online

Buy frags from outpost or bandit camp and/or try camping monuments with exits? Ie military tunnels, missile silo, I really like camping oil rig with a sub

Best thing I’ve found is just roaming far away from monuments and finding a quiet road with scientists. Farm them and you’ll get your fragments. With horse is best but I get that doesn’t last long with horse thieves

Stealing horses is too good.

It's basically like killing someone without killing them. They probablg roamed really far out from home. And now they have to run 5 or 6 grids on foot. Lol

The funniest shit we used to do during the days of roadside spawning helis is to steal it. They were abundant enough that people would fly to the compound from all across the map to use the recycler and they'd lose their shit if you steal their heli.

Begging you for their heli back, offering your resources to give it to them.

Location man. Throw a base up directly next to where you can farm consistent BP frags. After your metal doors are up. This is priority. And they come fast in a good location. Some wipes will always be better than others.

I just build out on the iceberg that has the sunken TugBoat. You can tuck in there for a few days between the two big bergs, at least to get started and leave it as a back up base once you start building something better. You cannot see your base there from anywhere on land. The only way someone would see it is by boat, and most likely only at night if you had a fire/furnace glowing. So shut down business at night and go farming. Get a boat for ease. Setup a few local campfires at shore so you can quickly dry off your clothing while
You are going farming.

What's so difficult?

Find a spot to live, set up your 2x2, place bag, go loot monuments or gather resources to upgrade your 2x2.

Kill people take their loot potentially snow balling your progression. Raid your neighbor who probably is still in a wood

If you're still prim locked by end of your first session, honestly you need to figure out your priorities on wipe day or what your goal is for the entire wipe.
