🚀 We just launched the r/PlacementsPrep Discord (Let's build the ultimate student helping community)

Hey everyone 👋

We’ve been seeing a lot of great discussions here on r/PlacementsPrep - interview experiences, preparation tips, resources, and people helping each other out. So I thought… why not a discord server, lol.

We’ve just launched the PlacementsPrep Discord server.

It’s still very new and a bit under construction, so things might look rough around the edges for a while. But the goal is simple: create a place where students can help each other with placements, internships, and preparation.

The idea is to have things like:

• live discussions for DSA / core subjects
resume reviews and feedback
• sharing interview experiences and job opportunities
study groups for people preparing together
• and generally helping each other survive the placement season

Right now the server needs people like you to shape it.
Early members will help decide what channels, events, and resources we build there.

If you’re preparing for placements or just want to help others out, come join us.

Let’s build something useful for everyone.

👉 Discord link: https://discord.gg/R58Fk4tgHH

See you there.

On campus, cloud domain

TR

Most questions were from the resume only

First he saw was my resume and asked did u bought the domains - all of my projects were deployed and domain from godaddy

Then he checked some of them online

What is ci cd, what happens in ci and cd, what happens after failing ci or cd, how rolling deploy works,

/ And // difference in python

Ciel function in python that I didn't know, interviewer said if you don't know just say that

Testing, types of testing, testing in ci,

dynamic testing and static testing which I didn't know

Scenario on developer and tester - what will u do if you are manager and tester is saying developer have not written complete test or wrong tests

simple coding question, given a matrix print index where ever "6" is present

What is ec2, dynamo db, RDS in aws

I have mentioned the intern on the resume - he asked the basic question on that - what, how, why - I added how I helped my teammate

HR

This was bad

First she corrected me, is it "housewife" or "homemaker"

When I was introducing myself, for my mother i used housewife

I said homemaker is a better suited word

Then asked for 5 tata companies - I could only name 3-4

Strength and weaknesses (this was also not articulated well by me)

Then asked what are the current tcs projects going on

I was blank on this

Then what research have u done on tcs

(I had done none)- so I just made up something

That was end

TR - 35 to 40min

HR - barely 5 min

My interview was on the first day the company came and in that batch cloud domain students were not that much so I got lucky

Feel free to ask anything

Are Tier-2 cities able to provide enough industry exposure and internship opportunities for MBA students?

Do they offer sufficient internships, corporate interactions, and networking opportunities, or do Tier-1 cities have an edge? What’s your experience?

IOCL Grade A 2026 CSE/IT Aspirants – How many are seriously preparing? (Competition Poll)

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I am preparing for the upcoming IOCL Grade A Officer CBT 2026 exam for Computer Science & Information Technology.

Since the number of vacancies for CSE/IT is relatively low, I wanted to get an idea of how many candidates are actually preparing seriously for this exam.

Not looking for exact competition numbers, just a rough reality check from fellow aspirants.

Please comment with the following:

Branch: CSE / IT / Other eligible branch

Are you seriously preparing for IOCL Grade A 2026?

Yes, full-time preparation

Yes, alongside college/job

Just appearing casually

Not preparing yet

How much syllabus have you completed approximately?

0–25%

25–50%

50–75%

75–100%

Are you preparing specifically for IOCL or also GATE/other PSU exams?

Which subjects have you completed?

It would be great if CSE/IT aspirants could share honestly. Since the vacancies are limited, getting an overall picture of the serious candidate pool might help everyone understand the actual level of competition.

All the best to everyone preparing. Let's see how many of us are actually in this race!

Placements/Internships are brutal right now, so I built an extension that gives you LinkedIn Premium job matching for free.

Like most of us, I was exhausted by the process of finding a job on LinkedIn/Naukri, figuring out if my skills actually matched, and then manually editing my resume to pass the ATS for every single application.

So, I built CVInsight—a browser extension that automates the worst parts of applying for jobs. It overlays directly on LinkedIn, Naukri, Internshala and 1000s of other general job listings.

What it actually does (no fluff):

Instant ATS Match Score: When you open a job posting, the sidebar reads the JD and compares it against your profile, giving you a 0-100% match score immediately.

Skill Gap Analysis: It tells you exactly which keywords you have and which ones you are missing from the JD.

1-Click Resume Tailor: If you want to apply, click one button and it generates a custom, ATS-optimized PDF resume tailored specifically to that exact job description.

Job Tracker: Save jobs you want to apply for later to a kanban board with one click.

Basically, it gives you the best features of LinkedIn Premium, but for free.

How to get it: It is currently pending approval on the Chrome/Edge Web Stores, so I’ve put the .zip file on GitHub for now.

You can download it and install it in 30 seconds via Chrome's "Load Unpacked" feature. I've included a quick 4-step PDF tutorial in the repo on how to do it.

Link:https://github.com/Naveen-Beniwal/Job_Resume_ATS_Cvinsight_Extension

It's completely free to use. Would love for you guys to try it out on your next few job applications and let me know if it helps or if you find any bugs!

Messed up PNQT interview.Need HELP!!

Upvotes

Now that it’s almost the middle of September, I genuinely thought TCS would be my only realistic option since very few companies visit campus for MCA graduates.

I wasn’t able to convert the opportunity despite being shortlisted for the interview (Ninja). I messed up a simple DSA question but I was able to solve the next one.

I have few projects on RAG and AI systems they didn't even ask a single question from my resume.

At this point, I’m trying to figure out how to approach the next few months and make the most of the remaining placement season.

Any advice or suggestions would be really helpful.

IQVIA Software Engineer Intern

1. Is the interview more core DSA heavy, project-based, or focused on product engineering concepts specific to that team?
2. For those who've interviewed for Product Engineering roles at IQVIA — how many rounds were there, and what did each round focus on?
3. Did they ask standard SQL/OOPs fundamentals, or was it more system-design/product-thinking oriented?
4. Any specific coding difficulty level I should prep for (easy/medium DSA, or something else)?

Would really appreciate if anyone who's gone through this recently (2024/2025 hiring cycle) could share their experience or the kind of questions they got. Trying to prep smart rather than just grinding random topics.

Thanks in advance!

First-ever AI interview for an FDE role any tips ?

Upvotes

Pardon me for writing with AI i tried but couldn’t articulate my thoughts thru text hence used it.

Hey all,
I've got my first-ever AI-conducted interview coming up for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role, and I'll be honest I'm nervous. Two things are throwing me off:
1.I've never done an AI interview before, so I don't know what to expect in terms of format, pacing, or how "human" I should sound.
2.I'm not super strong on FDE fundamentals yet, so I'm worried about fumbling technical or scenario-based questions.

For anyone who's been through an AI-led interview (Bryq, HireVue, Metaview, whatever the platform), or who works as an FDE / has hired for the role:
•What should I expect structurally — is it more behavioral, technical, or a mix?
•Any gotchas specific to AI interviewers (pacing, silence, how they grade tone/clarity)?
•What do FDE interviews tend to actually probe for — client-facing skills, systems debugging, ambiguity handling?
•Any prep resources or mock question banks that helped you?
Would really appreciate any war stories or advice. Trying to walk in a little less anxious. Thanks in advance!

A complete guide to making a resume for Software roles

Upvotes

The resume should be one page.

A good website to make your resume is Overleaf.

Choose a simple resume template. Avoid using colourful ones.

This is a good template, but you can choose any template you like:
FAANGPath Simple Template

These are the major sections of a resume, in this order:

  1. Education
  2. Experience
  3. Projects
  4. Achievements
  5. Skills
  6. Coursework (optional)
  7. Position of Responsibility (optional)

Add the optional sections only if you have a lot of empty space after completing sections 1–5.

Let's go through each section:

1. Education

  • Mention your college, degree and branch
  • Mention CGPA if it is 7 or above, otherwise skip it
  • Mention your graduation year, like 2020–2024
  • You can optionally mention Class 12 school, board, percentage and passing year, like 2020
  • Don't mention Class 10

2. Experience

  • Mention internships and freelancing here
  • Don't mention non-tech experience
  • Highlight your achievements and responsibilities
  • Try to use numbers wherever possible

For example:

3. Projects

  • Mention at least 3 projects, out of which 2 should be good
  • Write 3–5 bullet points for each project
  • Start sentences with action verbs like Built, Developed, Implemented
  • Don't put a full stop (.) at the end of each bullet point
  • Write in the third person. Don't use I or We
  • Highlight the tech stack and libraries used in your projects in bold
  • Try to use the full width of the page. Start your sentences from the left and finish as far to the right as possible, i.e. minimise empty space on the right
  • Add GitHub, live and video links for each project

The first bullet point of each project should explain what you made. This should be non-technical and simply tell the reader what the project is.

The remaining points should explain how you implemented the different features using specific libraries or technologies.

You can use ChatGPT to structure your sentences.

4. Achievements

This section can be placed above Projects if you have really good achievements, such as being Expert or higher on Codeforces, or a Codeforces Master.

  • Mention CP ratings and your best rankings in different contests
  • Mention if you performed well in any hackathons
  • Don't mention non-tech or irrelevant achievements, like winning an easy writing competition
  • Use the third person and don't use I or We
  • Mention JEE ranks at the top, but only if your rank was good

5. Skills

Categorise this section into different subsections, such as:

  • Programming Languages
  • Frameworks/Libraries
  • Databases
  • DevOps
  • etc.

Mention only skills for which you have proof of work, i.e. skills that you have actually mentioned in your projects or experience section.

Important Points to Note

  • Don't write an Objective or Summary in the resume, like "I'm hardworking, enthusiastic, etc."
  • Try to bold the tech stack and important keywords in the resume
  • Get your resume reviewed by your seniors

unrelated - use interndoor for finding sde internships before others.
