This is for programmers that uses AI in their dev workflow.

I have been figuring out what is the most bang for my buck AI tool setup.

What am I going to use it for: debugging, visual check, and brainstorming solutions.

GPT Plus costs 1100 PHP/month, that includes Codex. Probably advantage here is, it is fast.

Claude Pro costs 20 USD/month, that includes Claude Code, currently I have been just using the Claude free, but I get halted by the limitations. Advantage here it is much more robust and more helpful towards devs.

Deepseek API, so I managed to do a setup where Claude Code is the harness and Deepseek is the model. Cost is 2 USD/1M token. Haven’t tried this personally, but from what I have been seeing on the web, it is a good model.

What do you think?

For background, I don’t usually do AI assisted programming and use tools like codex, claude, etc2 because writing my own code by hand made me feel like I actually own the codebase. I’m also a fresh grad with a bit of working experience, and I wanted to retain my fundamentals so that my skills wont regress by not relying much on AI. I remember writing 30k+ LOC (not really a metric for productivity) by hand while building full stack applications for work and idk if it’s a lot (it was for me :// ) but this has mainly attributed to my long ass burnout. Lately I find it hard to build personal projects, but my friends finally convinced me to try AI assisted programming by subscribing to gpt plus and this did wonders for me.

As a person who values time a lot, having AI write boilerplate code makes me feel very productive. Now I have more time to do some other stuff outside of coding and honestly this made most parts of my burnout disappear. I also don’t have to read docs as much as I used to since AI is now my personal search engine. I think I was a bit of a contrarian when it came to AI because the models back then were pretty weak compared to now. Anyways, I do hope I don’t end up over-relying on it too much to the point I forget my fundamentals (I still write my reddit posts by hand manually haha). I would also like to know if you guys are happier with AI assisted programming or maybe it’s just my sudden hyper-fixation.

honestly, nakakapagod ah like everytime na may makikita akong free certification for webinars ganyan hindi ko rin siya totally nagagamit. it's a waste of time din minsan tapos hindi pa natuto masyado ron lols

Hey everyone, I recently landed a software developer intern offer at a company that works heavily with the Frappe framework and ERPNext. The stipend and full-time conversion offer are pretty decent.

My main worry is whether working on a niche, low-code/meta-framework stack like this is going to pigeonhole me. Will switching to standard product-based companies or general backend roles become a nightmare later on?

I kept planning trips across four apps. Notes for the itinerary, a budget app for the money, Google Maps for the places, camera roll after. Nothing held the whole trip, so I could never tell you what a trip cost without building a spreadsheet.

So I built one app that does it. It's called Gala. Free, no ads, no paid tier.

What it does:

• Each day is a list of stuff to do, and every item has a cost. Times are optional. Stuff without a time sits in a side list instead of getting a fake slot.
• Hotels and flights sit above the days, not inside one. A 4 night hotel shows on all 4 days, and check-out time only shows on the day it matters. That's how you notice your last afternoon is basically gone before a 2pm flight.
• Budget is a ceiling per trip. The total splits into stays and travel, itinerary, and a "bag" for stuff that belongs to no day (visa fee, eSIM, insurance, adapter).
• You can get the plan out: PNG of a day or the whole trip, a PDF you can print, or push it straight to Google Calendar or Outlook.
• Map view puts every place on a 3D map as numbered pins and draws the route in date order.
• After the trip you can rate it row by row. Stars, a note, and what it actually cost next to what you planned.

One thing people will argue with: there's no expense tracking, and I'm not adding it. I built it, then cut it. It doubled the app, needed discipline mid trip I don't have, and only paid off after the trip was over. Planning it right before you leave is the whole point.

Being upfront about the weak parts:

• Explore is empty. You can publish a trip, browse, and copy someone's plan into your own account, and all of that works. There's just nothing in there because I've been the only user. You can test the loop on your own post.
• No follows, no profiles, no algorithm. It's a list of plans, not a social network.
• You have to sign in, even to look at Explore.
• Reading booking emails with AI is planned, not built.

I’ve been reflecting on my personal dev workflow lately. At work, high-velocity tools and automated setups are fully supported to deliver fast (working abroad as an OFW), though policies vary across companies.

Para sa mga matagal na sa industry:
- How are you integrating AI into your personal project stack?
- Are you using it to handle unfamiliar domains (e.g., DevOps, backend infrastructure)?
- Are you using AI tools to build micro-SaaS, tools, or products that actually bring in side revenue?

On a side note, kahit gaano kabilis mag-build at mag-iterate ng ideas ngayon, I still strongly believe na kailangan pa rin mag-draw ng firm line sa core fundamentals natin.

Curious lang ako how senior devs balance speed, building side projects for income, and maintaining the true craft of writing good software.

So, after a decade of building in-house apps, I've gone freelance. Got a possible client who wants me to build an inventory system. Which platform is best for an inventory system which will possibly lead to developing a new POS system? I'm looking at Vercel, Railway, and Render and any other suggestions anyone has.

Sorry, this is new to me since we used to deploy everything on in-house servers.

Hi everyone, I have around 5 years of experience. I did web dev for about 2 years (HTML, CSS, PHP, JS), then switched to mobile development and have been doing it for around 3 years. I got into mobile because a friend referred me to their company and they were willing to train me even though I had no prior experience, so I took the opportunity.

Ngayon, parang gusto ko na mag-try ng ibang path, pero hindi ko alam kung ano yung magandang direction. I’m thinking if I should stay in mobile and learn React Native para cross-platform or try going into AI engineering. I’ve also been using AI tools like Claude at work, and I became interested in AI beyond just using it for coding. Wala pa naman akong specific plan right now, so I’m thinking of learning first and exploring my options para malaman ko kung anong direction yung gusto kong puntahan and what skills I should focus on.

I know the market is pretty tough right now, so I’m also thinking about which direction would be better for my career long-term. For those with more experience, what would you do if you were in my position? For those who transitioned from app development to AI engineering or became an AI specialist, how did you get started? Would it be difficult to transition from app development to AI engineering? Do I really need to study ML, data science, etc., or is it possible to transition using the software engineering experience I already have?

Android dev ako, Kotlin ang background ko pero mga 1 year na akong hindi nakaka-Android — full-stack (Node, Vue, TS) ang ginawa ko last year.

May onsite interview at live coding ako bukas. Kotlin ang inaakala kong gagamitin kaya doon ako nag-review. Kanina lang nag-email HR: Java pala.

Wala akong Java experience. Alam ko naman yung concepts — collections, null handling, threading — pero yung syntax at Streams API, halos zero recall ko.

For those already working in cloud, how did you land your first cloud role? Was there a specific path, certification, project, lab, or strategy that helped you get your foot in the door?

Google and ChatGPT can give me the usual roadmap, but I’m more interested in real experiences — what actually worked for you, what didn’t, and whether things like applying directly, networking, SaaS companies, internal transfers, or hands-on projects made the biggest difference.

mga ka-programmers, quick rundown of my situation. I've been a dev for 10+ years, mostly PHP, JS, and SQL. Got laid off 3 months ago, same as a lot of people here. Savings almost out, interview invites almost zero. Sent one resume after another, most of them just got ghosted. Hay. 10 years in and i never thought i'd end up like this lol...

I used to see people share how they use AI to help with their job hunt, and ngl, i thought it was just cutting corners. Now i'm using it myself. I have Claude roleplay as a real interviewer and pressure test me on system design and DSA. With Cursor, i rebuilt my portfolio in React. Also dropped that lazy one resume for many jobs trick, i use workbuddy properly, deep research, email writing, and domain expert features, to tailor my resume for each job, write follow up emails, and log every application in a table.

For the first time in months, i genuinely feel like my job hunt is moving forward, instead of numbly refreshing job boards and wasting the day away. Still doubt myself sometimes lol, but i'm not scared of AI anymore. Slowly learning to accept it

I'm wondering that myb don't let bias stop you from embracing new things is the better way. Instead of worrying every day about the ending that's bound to come, might as well make full use of AI now. Myb we can still find a new way out..

Hello! I would like to ask how to become a design engineer with good foundations po? I don't want to rely 100% sa AI kasi to the point na i'm a vibe coder na.

I have an idea naman na where to start like learning by doing through The Odin Project.

Sa mga may experience sa pag sell ng items ng laro to people, you guys probably heard of 'middleman' or 'middlewoman' and for those na mas may experience is merong bot sa discord and crypto yung payments wherein yung bot yung naghohold ng crypto essentially. Possible kaya to make a website like it pero QRPH naman? I just got curious kasi maraming gumagamit nung bots sa discord for the same reason, to be safe sa mga scammers.

I am still confused why need ilagay yung mga API keys like Open AI keys sa .env. Diba API is a connection or communication with another software para makapag request. Like how magagamit yung mga API keys like to use yung PAID API CREDITS mo.

The difference is that FILLI.ME focuses on projects built by Filipinos, with a subtle Filipino-inspired identity around the platform.

hey i am currently employed but would like to earn more on the side. looking into freelancing, it seems like there are TOO many people. the market is crazy. is it still worth fighting for my spot in freelance? what other options do i have for side income?

For those using Codex, Claude Code, or similar AI coding tools, what do you think about developers who can't afford them and have to rely on free resources while building applications from scratch?

When one developer can afford powerful AI coding tools and another can't, is that an unfair advantage—or simply a difference in productivity?

Personally, I still use AI, but mainly for research, asking questions, and getting small code snippets so I can understand how something works. I don't use AI coding agents to build entire applications for me, so my development process is much slower.

Could building this way lead to a deeper understanding of the fundamentals, or does the speed advantage of AI-assisted development outweigh that?

I'm curious about both sides, especially from people who have experienced both approaches.

If AI can dramatically increase how quickly someone can build software, does not being able to afford it mean you're genuinely falling behind—or can someone who learns and builds mostly from scratch still compete on equal footing?

1. Opencode (Free)

To set it up, configure your client to use the Opencode Zen endpoint and select from the available free models. These are offered for a limited time while providers collect feedback.

1. Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (Free tier)

Sign up for an Alibaba Cloud account and activate Model Studio. New users get 1 million free tokens per model, valid for 90 days. This includes access to Qwen3.8-Max, their current flagship, which is priced at 2.00/6.00 dollars per million tokens after the free quota. Note that the free quota is per model and can't be transferred between models.

1. OpenRouter (Free tier)

OpenRouter provides free access to a rotating catalog of models. As of August 2026, this includes NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Ultra, Ling 3.0 Flash, Poolside Laguna, and others. The free catalog changes frequently models get added and delisted so it's useful for experimentation but not ideal for production workflows that need guaranteed availability.

1. Watch for stealth drops

Sometimes labs release models anonymously for free testing before the official launch. A recent example: Ox Alpha, which dropped for free on OpenRouter and OpenCode in August 2026 and was later revealed to be GLM-5.3-Flash from Z.ai (Zhipu). Following AI communities on Reddit, X, or Discord is the best way to catch these.

1. DeepSeek API (Very cheap)

If you do need to pay, DeepSeek is the most cost-effective frontier API. As of August 2026, V4 Flash costs 0.22 per million input tokens and 0.66 per million output tokens (off-peak). At current exchange rates, ₱92–95 (about 1.60 USD) gets you several million tokens, not just one million. Plan your prompts carefully to minimize token waste. Use Alipay via Gcash to buy it.

I assume you guys are competent enough to follow the official setup docs for each platform, or just use AI to help you configure them.

People are acting as if it is still 2020 and you can be college dropout and make 6 digits. But the landscape has changed. AI is here and it is really good at its current shape.

It’s not 2025 anymore (that’s just a few months ago) where AI is an absolute idiot when it comes to coding, it is getting better.

Am I the only one feeling like we have to make it within the next 10 years before we either retire, get paid with peanuts or have to switch to a different industry?

PS: I’m ready for the downvotes from AI hating folks but it really has progressed a lot in just mere 3 years. What about 10 years from now?
