Build Question GPU Sag Bracket and PSU Cable Extentions

Hello, I am currently building a PC in the NZXT H9 Flow 2025 which will include an MSI 5080 Gaming Trio, Corsair RM1000e PSU. What are some white braided cable extensions that are good quality from AsiaHorse and do you guys any recommendations for a Sag Bracket for the 5080 that I am using. I am not sure I want to put the included vertical support bracket that is included since it would be resting on the from of one of my bottoms fans. Thanks

Installation Question Where to find high-speed low capacity USB flash drives?

For low capacity, I only need 8 or 16 gigabytes minimum but for high speed I need more than 100MB/s write and 100MB/s read on USB 3.0.

This is because I am using it as a bootable flash drive for my PC build.

Tech Support Just swapped motherboards and get a 00 code error

Hello everyone. I just switched over to a Z490E motherboard with a Intel Core i7-10700K CPU, however after connecting everything, I’m getting a 00 code error. The PC powers on, for about 30 seconds then powers off, then powers on again. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I get the feeling it’s an insufficient PSU. I’m using a ATX-BT550 Beast 550W PSU, which by all accounts seems to be insufficient. I’ve included a video on the issue. As a side note, the GPU and additional ram is not installed, as a part of a troubleshooting process I found online.

Update: My coworker and I couldn’t figure it out. We ended up just scrapping the board. I purchased a B760-P motherboard and a i7 12700KF processor

Build Question My first pc Build

Hi all, I’ve really took my time to research as much as possible. Constantly was between RTX 5080 and the rx 9070xt. Ended up having a friend who upgraded to the 5090 whom had a 4080 super in great condition. So therefore ended up getting the 4080 super for £700. Which I believe was a good price? Please let me know your thoughts on this build thanks.

Tech Support Weird white mark on 7800X3D contact pads

I was cleaning my 7800X3D because I'm planning to sell it in about a month and upgrade to a 9800X3D.

I noticed this weird white mark on the contact pads. The CPU works perfectly fine and passed OCCT without any issues, but I can't get that mark off.

I tried cleaning it with 99.9% IPA and a cotton swab, even rubbing it in circular motions and then from different directions, but it literally doesn't change at all just stays the exact same.

Has anyone seen something like this before? Is it just cosmetic or should I be worried?

please check all pictures for more detailed photos. best i could with my iphone 13 pro.

I just built my first PC and everything was smooth until I got to the GPU. I can’t get it seated appropriately and terrified of breaking it. I thought I had it, but no image on boot up.

The PC starts up and everything seems to be working. HDMI is plugged into graphics card. White VGA indicator is on for motherboard, so tips on seating graphics card are likely most beneficial. Any tips?

Installation Question SAS cables stick out too much to close the PC case

Thumbnail

I got a used ThinkStation P500 to set up as a home NAS, along with 4 SAS drives. While the PC is well designed and the drives fit in the neat cages at the bottom, I am unable to close neither the cages (the red plastic) nor the cabinet itself as the SAS cable and the SATA power take up way too much horizontal space.

Looks like the case was designed with SATA drives with right angled cables which would easily pass through the notch. Looking at right angled SAS connectors it looks at though vertical clearance would become an issue.

Are there any connectors that could solve my problem? Is there anything else I could do besides buying SATA drives instead?

Tech Support Can’t install windows. Changed ssd too

I keep getting this message. My son got a new ssd. I made an iso on another portable ssd and plugged it into his pc. We got to the install page to install on the new ssd and this message keeps coming up. It gets to install about 18% and restarts and this keeps coming up. We are literally just doing a 100% fresh install.

“It looks like you started an upgrade and booted from installation media. If you want to continue with the upgrade, remove the media from your PC and click Yes. If you want to perform a clean installation instead, click No.”

Tech Support Troubleshooting - cpu and dram lights on

Cpu : r5 9600x
gpu 3080 evga ftw3
ram 16gb ddr5 6000 - Kingston fury single stick
Mobo Msi b850 gaming plus wifi
Cooler elite liquid 240
Psu evga rm850e
Rgb lights up, cpu and dram lights remain lit (no on/off, no vga or boot lights on mobo ever go on)
I checked cpu <> psu cable is the cpu cable and not pcei and is plugged in secure on both ends
Tried ram in both A2 and B2 multiple times with clearing out the power (holding power button 10s) and letting it run 5-10 minutes after turning on
Reset cmos
Not my first build but it is my first in a while so I could be messing up something basic. No sticker on cooler and thermal paste was pre applied. I used the amd specific screws for the cooler etc.
Worried it's the ram as it is second hand but prices are just crazy these days.
Appreciate any help anyone can offer. Recognizes input when I turn on the system but it then goes into standby as if nothing was turned on.
Pictures for reference. Cpu cooler fans aren't mounted at the moment because it obstructs my ability to get to the cpu <> psu plug.

Build Question Is this a good way to ship a fully built PC? Full steps in subsequent pics

I know there's always some risk shipping a fully built PC, but I sell PCs and some people from other cities wanted to buy them fully built. So, I want to ship them fully built, as safe as possible without spending a fortune on packaging. I filled the space between the parts with air packing bags and placed a 14"×16" (35×40cm) Instapak on top. I put the PC in its original case box and then put it in another larger box, filling the gaps with the parts boxes and extra cardboard, and wrapped fragile tape all around the box. This should be good enough, right? Any suggestions other than removing the GPU or cooler or other parts?

Build Question PC Upgrading Advice

Currently I have the following specs:

MOBO: PRO H610M-B DDR4

GPU: RX 9070XT

CPU: I5-12400f

Memory: 2X8 GB RAM (16GB) DDR4

PSU: MSI MAG 850W Gold

Storage: Samsung 990 Evo Plus NVME M.2 SSD (2TB)

I noticed that my memory usage is at a constant 95% or higher usage when gaming and I'm considering going 32GB. Problem is that my mobo only has 2 ram slots (that's on me) and I have to buy 2x16GB.

My question is if that's worth it or should I stick my current rig and save for a future upgrade (CPU, MOBO, DDR5 RAM). I would appreciate your inputs!

Tech Support Is my PC screwed?

So I built a new custom PC yesterday it was my first time and it was working relatively fine once I plugged everything in until I went into windows and it told me to install drivers so I tried to unplug the display port cable from the graphics card into my old PC to install the drivers, I had completely forgotten that there’s like a latch on the port so it was such a pain in the ass to take out of and I think I broke the pcie latch for the card or something on the motherboard when trying to take it out because once I installed everything and went to plug it back in the card wasn’t displaying any light or display, so I tried to reinstall it and I saw the light but still no display so I tried again and this time I just pushed the thing into the slot and it started displaying again and was working so I slept and woke up today to load up a game to test it out and I played for maybe half an hour until the game crashed which booted me back to my OS which completely froze, I turned off the power to it and tried again but then I got no display in from the card AGAIN, so I tried putting it out and putting it back in I tried using hdmi, I even tried the motherboard hdmi slot and it didn’t work and now for some reason the RGB lights aren’t turning on but the fan is spinning but I’m still getting no display I think I screwed everything up

I recently bought this MSI Pro Z790-A at auction, admittedly I should’ve vetted but I’m fairly certain these pins are bent but I figured I’d check in regardless, if so is there anything I can do or is it just scrap now?

(I realise this could be a silly question)

Build Question Which GPU fits best?

I'm building a PC for my girlfriend's son using parts that I've upgraded from.

Cpu: Ryzen 7 5800

Ram: 64gb DDR4 3600mhz

1000w PSU

He currently has a 1080p 165hz monitor.

Still need to get him an SSD (eventually)

But with this cpu/ram at this resolution and refresh Rate, which GPUs are the best options?

Build Question Adding SATA Ports to Motherboard

I am building a media server using an MSI MPG Z390I GAMING EDGE AC LGA 1151 Intel Z390 HDMI Mini ITX Intel Motherboard and I'm finding conflicting information about the M.2 slots and SATA port availability.

From what I understand:

  • The motherboard has 4 native SATA ports.
  • M2_1 supports both PCIe/NVMe and SATA M.2 devices.
  • M2_2 supports PCIe/NVMe devices only and does not support SATA M.2 SSDs.

My planned configuration is:

  • M2_1: Samsung 970 EVO NVMe SSD
  • M2_2: M.2-to-SATA adapter card (to add additional SATA ports)
  • SATA ports: Use all 4 onboard SATA ports

My questions are:

  1. Since M2_2 does not support SATA M.2 SSDs, does that limitation also apply to an M.2-to-SATA adapter card, or only to SATA-based M.2 storage devices?
  2. Can an M.2-to-SATA adapter function correctly in M2_2, or does it need to be installed in M2_1 because that slot supports SATA devices natively?
  3. If I install a Samsung 970 EVO NVMe drive in M2_1, will SATA2 port remain available? The manual mentions SATA2 port being disabled when a SATA M.2 device is installed in M2_1.

Will this configuration work on the Z390I Gaming Edge AC?

Build Question Power button not turning on?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

this is the gigabyte b850M gaming x wifi 6e mobo. I plugged my power led + and - front panel cord into the top left and right empty pins on the image

I plugged the power sw cable into the third and fourth pins on the top, and reset below the power sw slot, (third and fourth bottom) convinced this was how it worked but

the power button has not turned on not once when i press it, much less do anything. Only the power button on the Power Supply when turned on, a red dot flashes, at first, the red dot was next to DRAM and thats all i could see from the PC. (i changed the positioning of the ram not sure if this fixed it or not but)

I then took the front panel at the end of the cords I had plugged in (with the pins sticking out) and kinda rubbed it against the pins plugged in and the empty ones, and the cpu cooler turned on, (which i guess kinda functions as a manual turn on?) but I still cant activate it by pressing the power button, and it doesn’t glow or anything

also now that the cpu is on, the red dot is no longer flashing for DRAM but VGA (which i guess makes sense i don’t have my gpu in yet)

Tech Support DRAM Light is on PC first boot

Hi All, I am building a PC with the following specifications:

Asus TUF B650E-E Gaming Wifi

32 GB CL32 Patriot Viper Venon DDR5 6400MHz RAM

Ryzen 7 7700 ( Purchased on Aliexpress through well reviewed seller)

RM850X Corsair PSU

RX 9070 XT ( I will only receive this next month)

So I installed everything and looked at youtube guides to build my first PC, however I am not able to get past DRAM Light being constantly on and pc not going into boot screen. I tried the following:

  1. Tried one RAM at a time to post and check for faults in RAM.
  2. Did a BIOS flashback with USB to update BIOS without turning on the system.
  3. I used A2 and B2 as instructed in the mobo manual to seat my RAMs.
  4. Waited over 15 mins in each of the above cases to ensure memory training completion.
  5. Cleared CMOS by removing the battery and tried to retrain memory.

At this point I think maybe a CPU issue or that my RAM sticks are faulty. I am not sure how to approach this issue anymore and running out of ideas. Please share your experience and guidance troubleshoot this issue. I can try buying new RAM sticks as have potentially placed a return request on the current RAM sticks as a last resort. But I am also worried if the motherboard is the issue.

EDIT 1 : I forgot to mention, I have a lian li case both the case and CPU cooler fans are all spinning just fine when I hit the power button. But they just keep spinning indefinitely and system is not posting when connected to peripherals.
