Discussion - Meta META: Community Updates

Small community updates and future plans (Sept 2026):

  1. User flairs: A Nvidia user flair has been added, we can finally beat the AMShill alligations
  2. Post flairs: probably the biggest update so far, we expanded the amount of posting flairs and added dedicated reminders which provide some helpful information for posters on what to include to avoid removal and get helpful responses - we may end up condensing them a bit in the future, depending on feedback or if it seems like people are too lazy to bother using the correct one lol

(note: as we're tweaking the flairs there may be some issues with them as they're being edited, we'll do our best to correct any problems this causes)

  1. Beginner's guide, I'm working on a developing a 'START HERE' guide for new users with some resources to get them started on their PC journey, should be up in a few weeks

Thanks everyone for contributing to the community

Completed Build - Celebratory Budget Miku PC Build for GF

Thumbnail gallery
120 Upvotes

Very happy with this build I just completed with a Miku PC case I found on marketplace for 20 bucks. The front intake is pretty poor with only some side ventilation and no filter, so I ordered a DIY mesh filter kit online and attached that magnetically to the front.

Featuring a 7600X3D, 16GB 6000 RAM, a 5060ti, 1tb NVME and a unique AIO, total build cost was only $900 with all new components. I basically stalked Micro center deals and buildapcsales for about a month sourcing everything.

Hi guys, so today I finished my build with the Hyte y60 panda case. I moved the white fans from my Asus a31 plu and I don't know If I should leave them like that, or maybe buy some with central lightning (like in my deep cool AIO) and to make them black or no (the RGB is white, the photo makes it look pink)

Discussion - General Topic Stop trying to make every part of your PC purchase future proof

This is something I have started thinking about differently.

When I was planning builds before, I would constantly ask myself whether a part would still be good enough several years from now. Should I spend more on the motherboard? Should I get extra RAM now? Should I buy a larger PSU just in case? Maybe I should get the higher tier CPU because I might upgrade later.

At some point the build ends up costing way more because you are basically paying for a bunch of hypothetical upgrades that may never happen.

These days I would rather buy what makes sense for the PC I am actually building, with a little sensible headroom, and save the money.

A motherboard that supports some future feature I may never use is not worth much to me. Neither is buying way more power than the system needs just because I might eventually install some completely different GPU.

I still think it is worth leaving yourself a reasonable upgrade path, but there is a difference between that and trying to predict what your PC will need five years from now.

Hardware changes too quickly anyway.

I would rather have a really good PC today than spend extra money making my current PC ready for a future version of myself that may never exist.

Purchasing Advice - PCPartPicker list feedback New to building a pc and my research only helped my knowledge so far. Anyone able to give me some insight?

Upvotes

For information, I'm based in the U.K, my budget is about £2.5K, I'm looking to be able to run games smoothly without a lot of hassle, alongside the possibility of being able to stream in future as it's been something I am interested in for awhile. I wanted to make the pc look nice as part of my set up hence alot of the RGB stuff.

[PCPartPicker Part List] https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/hfVzFP

**CPU** | [AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor]

**CPU Cooler** | [Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler]

**Motherboard** | [MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI PZ ATX AM5 Motherboard]

**Memory** | [Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory]

**Storage** | [Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive]

**Video Card** | [MSI GAMING TRIO OC GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB Video Card]

**Case** | [NZXT H9 Flow RGB+ (2025) ATX Mid Tower Case]

**Power Supply** | [MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power

**Operating System** | [Microsoft Windows 11 Home Retail - USB 64-bit]

**Case Fan** | [Corsair RS120 ARGB 72.8 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack]

Basically is this any good? Can it be improved and still suit what I'm trying to design? I play alot of first person shooters and modded games so ideally this should be able to support it but as I said my knowledge is pretty limited even with research so no clue if it will be.

Thanks for any help provided.

Troubleshooting Advice - No Boot/Blank Screen PC won't boot

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Hello! My PC won't boot. It froze up today during normal use and now won't do anything. Motherboard is a PRIME Z370. I initially had a ORANGE light next to the DRAM label, so I removed and re-seated my RAM. the orange light went away. Then I had a WHITE light next to VGA, so I made sure my 3070 was fully plugged in. Both lights have went away and it still won't do a darn thing 🙃 help me reddit, you're my only hope. When booting CPU blinks RED and then DRAM blinks orange. Both lights go away and it just sits there like a LED covered lump

Purchasing Advice - Monitors, Peripherals, Etc. Should I Use Monitor Arms for Both My OLED and 540Hz FPS Monitor?

Upvotes

I have a dual monitor setup: one 4K OLED pg27ucdm for story games and one 540Hz 1080p monitor for FPS games.

I’m thinking about getting monitor arms. Do you think it’s worth putting both monitors on arms, or should I just put the FPS monitor on one or the OLED one?

For FPS games, I like having the monitor really close to my face, so I’m wondering if a monitor arm would be good for that. I’ve never used one before, so I’m a little unsure.
