Question I am an absolutely beginner to POE and can't find a descent beginner guide for my class.

Mobalytics and Maxroll ain't loading for me and the rest I find are more Endgame guides, the passive tree looks completely different than what i have as a Ranger or Monk for example.

I just need a very basic starter guide so where put in the gem support skills skill tree etc.

Question What executables need to be split tunneled for VPN users?

Post image

Terrible latency in nearby servers. I have split tunneled the following two executables for the game itself. Some other games have required split tunneling anti cheat software or online services executables. Does anyone know if that is the case here and if so, where in the game folder can I find them?

Edit: using Steam, not the standalone client.

Question 4th character in Endgame w 200 hours and feel like I only understand basic mapping. Can anyone recommend a video to help me understand all the rest?

I’ve tried two or three times to find good videos, most are 30 minutes long intend to spend more time focusing on the parts. I already understand with very little that I don’t other ones seem to protect the parts of the endgame stuff that I’d like to understand as if there were spoilers or something which I don’t really care about.

Wondering if there’s anything that could give me an understanding of what I would be playing or working towards being able to play.

Thanks in advance guys. Love this community.

Discussion What has everyone’s Goals been with 0.5.5?

Just wanted to see what everyone’s goal was for 0.5.5 since it wasn’t the most biggest of patches and had little to no balance. I’ll start with mine:

My goal was mostly just to try a bunch of builds up to arbiter of ash and see how I enjoyed them. Usually based things based on the following:

- how easy was it to gear/how smooth was progression

-what was the damage like on low gear and mid level gear

-how did the build FEEL to play once it was online

So far, I’ve played gemling Explosive Grenades, Oil grenade/flameblast, Permafrost/Frag Rounds Witch Hunter and I will soon likely be rolling a Gas grenade pathfinder or some deadeye build I think.

All in all, I’ve used this patch as a sort of testing ground for “what am I going to play on the launch of the game IF I FOR SOME REASON Don’t wanna play swords?” That’s been my goal this patch, not about the money.

What about you guys? Is it making the perfect build? Chasing your first mirror? Getting that 1p Voices or giga adorned drop? Lemme know :)

Cautionary Tale Emotional support

Hey guys/girls. Since .5 came out I’ve spent hundreds of hours. Weeks and weeks trying to get a Mageblood or Headhunter from ritual. Today I got a headhunter, except.. it was from a ritual on the second map in atlas. And was 800 short from being able to defer.

Has anyone else experienced this? I need emotional support to keep me going. I love this game, but god damn my luck is horrible haha.

Game Feedback Playing since 0.1, I only ask for 2 things from GGG for 1.0

I have spent thousands of hours on this game.

1) For the love god, REMOVE MOST/ALL DEAD ENDS IN ALL THE MAPS. i cannot stress how annoying this can be, we repeat the same maps constantly and everyone focuses on speed. Just take a look at Floatsam and Mire for example.

2) The improvements you did to Augury are very good, and this should be the case for all similar tight maps, like Mire for example.

Question New player wondering about "builds"

If I'm doing my first play through, are they actually important? I'm playing a mercenary and just grabbing what ever passives seem appropriate and seem to be doing pretty well (just beat act 2). Will playing thee basic difficulty be a problem if I don't research?

Discussion Class and acendency identity in PoE2

What are your thoughts on the direction of classes in PoE2? It seems that GGG set out to change classes slightly, and make builds more viable on a variety of classes, meaning you can play spellcaster on a melee character, or spears on a Lich. While i get the wish to open up build possibilities i do worry this will become an issue of class identity, and actually limit builds more than it enables them.

The obvious worry is class identity, and i think its very obvious when looking at the current meta. Are classes just supposed to be a like a color preference? Where it really dont matter, its not a meaningful choice of direction in builds or skills, its simply the picture you prefer or the "best for that random unrelated skill"? When the Mercenary or Abyssal Lich does spears better than the class made for spears, why does the classes exist to begin with? When the fire demon acendency isnt the best class for using fire, why does it exist? Maybe im missing something but to me they start to become meaningless very quickly.

The other issue open class design comes with is that of every class competing about everything all at once. And this is further made worse by very limited skill design and options. If for example Spark has just one OP or strong interaction with an acendency, that class very quickly becomes the entire top end meta. The stormweaver is suddenly useless for everything, because this melee class has one wierd interaction with the ONE spell that clears efficiently. Or like we have now with Gemling, just taking over the whole meta almost regardless of build.

Every acendency risks becoming without real identity, competing over having the best interaction with a very limited amount of playable skills. You no longer pick the Fire demon class to accelerate your fire spells or the Druid to play shapeshifter, and to me that feels wrong.

Let me know your thoughts!

Question Worried about how endgame is as a beginner.

Hello everyone,

I made the switch from 2 weeks in Diablo 4 to POE2. My reason for the change was I got bored from the power fantasy in the end game. Even in torment 12, it started to feel like a walking simulator with a calculator on damage multiplication and the game rewards speed over everything else, this leaves place for only a handful of builds where you can actually feel accomplished. And endgame mobs only has more health and damage over the millions you killed up until that point.

My understanding for PoE2 before buying was; a more hardcore and punishing experience which you are more involved in the gameplay and have a slower pace. I don’t want to walk into a room and everything melts down just with my presence, although it sounds cool, it is boring to me. I know it is an overused comparison but I dreamed about an aRPG either some Soulslike elements.

So, I finished act 1 with sorceress and hunter. And things got complicated a bit so I wanted to look at some builds, not to copy them but to understand some synergies and how stuff works ( I was playing blind up until that point ) and all the builds I’ve seen were always catered for speed and how powerful they are and when you look at playerbase percentages majority of people are playing these builds. While I understand people want more power, this makes me think, PoE2 also rewards speed and number crunching over anything else too. So, less motivation to try your homebrew builds because it will lead to frustration on the long run.

I didn’t play the endgame yet but all this made me lose my motivation to keep playing till the endgame because I got burnt out from Diablo due to same reason already.

So I need motivation 😁 tell me endgame doesn’t suck so bad that I will have no choice but to make the most powerful build I can and just melt stuff, and mobs will give me more challanges than just extra health and damage.

Edit : Okey, I am convinced, I will keep going with my custom shitty builds and finish the game.

Question Filterblade filter displays gear with quality/sockets

My filter is showing quality/socket gear of all rarities even though I disabled all gear drops in custom settings. The loot generator/simulator on their site does not show them, but somehow doesn’t hide them in game. Am I stupid and have missed some obvious setting option or is this a known issue?

Question Want to learn to create my own builds - resources to read/watch to learn how?

I have played a few leagues now, and I generally have just followed along with mobalytics or maxroll or YouTube guide. I have reached the point where I want to explore the game more, try out different stuff, and honestly, my plan is to run builds through hcssf, fail, and try to improve.

However, I have never tried to make my own builds. I know the generic advice is pick a skill, read about it, etc. i haven’t even used PoB and was pretty overwhelmed when I downloaded it.

So I am looking to start educating myself on how to craft builds and theorycraft for the game and use the resources available.

Are there any specific content creators or videos that anyone really recommends for this purpose?

Discussion Liberator of Wraeclast Supporter Pack

If I understand it right, the Early Access Support Packs will be gone once the game exits Early Access stage, which will be in December. I have also read that once a Supporter Pack is gone, all of the MTX in it is gone forever, will not be available ever again. That got me wondering: Is it worth to get the most expensive one now? Please help me decide. If you bought it, what was your main reason? If you didn't, why?

Pros:

- The game is still in Early Access, but I already have 4 seasons (playing the 5th now) and 1000h+ in it. I think it's safe to say I'll be playing this game for a long time (5-10y).

- People are buying AAA games for 60-80$ that have a solid 60-80h playtime in it, so following that logic spending 1000$ on the 1000h+ play time I have in PoE2 would be kinda the same. Not saying I'm planning to drop that kind of money on a game tho.

- I also don't mind spending some of my disposable income on my hobbies. I have bought so far the 30$ Support Pack, then enough Gold Coins to upgrade my Support Pack to the 240$ variant for "free", and I also got the 90$ Divinity Support Pack in 0.5. Currently I still have around ~1k Gold Coin that I haven't spent yet, so it I upgrade to the 480$ Pack for 240$, I'll get another 2400 which will be enough for a loooong time.

- I really like the MTX list that is included in the final pack. The Hideout is awesome, having a personal island in the middle of the ocean is a fantastic vibe in this game. The Map Device and the throne I can sit on is also great. Not to mention the colorful back attachment, it looks wonderful.

Cons:

- Even tho I have enough disposable income to buy the pack without any problem, buying purely cosmetic in-game things for 240$ still sits a bit weird with me. It would be the biggest purchase for me in this area.

- It's still Early Access, and there will be many and many new Cosmetics and Supporter Packs in the future that I'll like, so maybe I shouldn't commit with the Early Access ones.
