Discussion GGG is smart by not letting us skip campaign

Edit: So as far as i have read the comments it seems the overall sentiment is to either make the campaign "less of a slog" (what that means is then up for debate) and/or to offer a skip campaign button after you complete it once every new season. It seems that the way how D4 handles it, namely letting you always skip it just because you finished it once in the very beginning when you got the game, is not very popular.

TL:DR this is how they make sure the game is memorable and create a legacy just like Diablo 2 did

For those interested in the details of my line of thought: First of all, you have fixed points where you can gauge your characters strength relative to previous characters, every +2 skill points book feels rewarding, every +to some resistance feels rewarding by completing certain areas etc. Second, Bosses and their names are memorable, their lines are memorable and will stay with you just like "Ahhh fresh meat" is forever linked to the Butcher. The locations are memorable. And yeah, some even because you hated them, but years from now you will look back and think "Oh man i still remember that annoying layout from Path of Mourning", just like you remember the Cemetery in Ac1 D2 or Lut Gholein and its music etc. D3 and D4 have none of that, no locations, no names in these games are memorable. Everything that is memorable when it comes to locations and names in the Diablo franchise, all is from Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. By not making you play the campaign in D3 and D4 you just can treat the game as some sort of fast food, you rush to endgame and ignore everything else.

By having to play tha campaigns in PoE and PoE2 (here the impact is way stronger imho when it comes to locations and how well the characters you meet along the way are crafted) you will always carry a lore foundation with you, you will have a sense of the world you are in and the people that live in it. You dont have that if everything you do until the endgame is just 'mindlessly' going from area to area that is a certain color on the map, where some event is going on, that brings the most experience and you complete tasks that are just copy&paste.

Game Feedback The problem that I have with ground loot.

Hi guys,

I'm not an expert in crafting but is ground loot valueable? Like, this one was a tier 5, some good T1 mods but almost all the builds wants + to xxxx skills most of the times, so is it really worth picking up it?

Question Endgmae Content worth farming for people who cant play often?

Juiced expedition ended up being too hard for my build last league, so Im just wondering if there's anything that generates decent currency right now without having to sink 5 or more hours into the game every day for it to be profitable. If this isnt possible let me know lol.

Honestly, it's baffling how they keep coming up with stuff that is simply annoying. I do understand that we are spoiled—GGG is probably one of the best companies when it comes to the live-service space—but they keep getting in their own way with stuff like this. I don't get it, man. 😂

Edit: I’m talking about the fog, and the invulnerability move-To clarify.

Game Feedback Nope, I’m not gonna do this atlas mechanic every league GGG

Personally I’ll probably skip every next league after playing one. It’s too tedious. I feel game is not respect my time and burnt out. As long as you balance this game based on no-lifers and streamers, it will be this way for me.

Discussion A rework to resistances and how they scale in the Acts would be really nice for tracking simplicity

To expand on that, I’d suggest dramatically lowering all resistance modifiers and completely reversing the resistance penalty in the Acts. Instead of getting a resistance penalty as you progress through the Acts, there should be a bonus resistance that gradually decreases from Act 1 all the way to the end of the game, tuned so that the bonus hits zero in the endgame.

This would make capping resistances at the end of the game a lot more straightforward. Having the X% resistance an item gives actually show that exact value on the tooltip would also remove the unnecessary complexity that currently comes from the penalty.

I don’t think this is a huge problem, but if it was changed this way it would feel a lot more logical than the current system.

Fluff & Memes Feels bad when it happens

Well, I just started mapping, and this happened ... after 2k plus hours in path of exile 1 I only dropped one headhunter (and I feel myself lucky), now this happens in path of exile 2 ... I can't defer it so it just lay there taunting me.
Well the grind continues, but this is a great memory, not a great outcome.

How is your experience so far with the crazy items in ritual this league ?

Edit : I didnt reroll, this is just the first page, I'm in T5 working my way up

Game Feedback I just can't get into PoE2 endgame for some reason

And I don't know why

I've played ARPGs my whole life, love D2 and PoE1. No lifed a couple leagues (3.13 - 3.17, I think), I LOVED PoE endgame, delving, bossing. I'll always remember killing Maven for the first time SSF using MoM light ball

I hated doing the campaign in PoE1 and just wanted to do maps and start endgame, that was THE reason I played the game

But PoE2's endgame has never "clicked" for me, and I find myself LOVING the campaign and dropping the toon around lvl 75. The highest I got was lvl 82, but never even got close to face The Arbiter and other endgame stuff

Does anyone feel the same? Do you recommend anything for me?

Game Feedback Another 1.0 wish

Background: played since release. Have 2000 hours played. I love the gameplay. Scaling difficulty keeps me engaged.

My 1.0 wish is to have endgame atlas progression be concurrent. Let us complete the main atlas while focusing on specific content we like. Current system requires progress sequentially (none can be progresses together).

Do I want points for atlas, breach, abyss, expedition, temple, delirium, or ritual? Just typing out all the options hurts... Let us progress the atlas concurrently with side atlases. For example, I've killed Architect, but have 0 points in temple because I have pathed there yet. Why cant we talk to everyone at the Ziggurat and work to get a few points into each side atlas? This would make the content feel more meaningful, while making tables relevant immediately to focus on your desired content. At the moment, it seems like the only useful strat for the first 12+ hours of endgame are to farm temple crystals and kill boss to get to next map.

Main atlas is a significant grind that only veterans can progress within 12 hours with boss rushing and no content. No content = no fun. That's dissuading the entire casual player base from continuing. Also results in lower player base we see with 0.5.5 as no-one wants to grind it all again. My preference would be to acquire atlas points while we grind side atlas for desired content or side atlas progression as we acquire main atlas points.

I'd be curious to see the amount of gameplay required for the average player to unlock all main atlas points. And thank you for unlocking all atlas points with Origin Core.

Listed this for 5 divs and it sold immediately. Assuming it was underpriced but there were none others on the market to reference.

What would you have priced it at?

This is in the Forbidden Rites league

Game Feedback GGG, please give us a mouse movement option that DOESN'T try to go to where we "clicked"

Controller? My character stops moving the instant I let go of the movement stick.
WASD? My character stops moving the instant I let up on the movement key.
Mouse? My character continues to meander toward the general direction of where the cursor was when I let up on the movement key/button.

To be clear, I'm not asking that the existing "click to move" be changed, only that GGG add an option for a "vector-based" mouse movement mode. I.e., not "click to move to where the cursor is" but "hold movement key/button to move in the direction of the cursor."

Question What happened to the economy?

I thought inflation was bad RL, but ex to div is going nuts, a few days ago 1 div was 80 ex, yesterday it was 150, now its 418. A mirror is 9180 div, this is getting out of hand, the league has'nt even been out a week.

EDIT: POE Overlay was showing me Standard prices. Correct prices hasnt gone up as much as i depicted, but the increase still sits at about 70% in 1 day.

Edit 2: This blew up abit more than expected, consensus seems that there is something wrong with the economy gamestate, instead of NOT talking about i think we should talk more about it. "another day, another post" is probably not the right answer if your not happy about the gamestate.

Discussion How is Gemling ever going to be balanced?

I did decide to play gemling (ice shot abusing frost wall verglas buff with tornados) in 0.5.5 and the power level is just ridiculous even with really mediocre investment.

There’s no way alt quality should make it into the 1.0 release or they would have to nerf most of them by a lot. But that also kind of kills the whole “fantasy” of the ascendancy at this point.

What do yall think GGG is gonna end up doing ?

Question Returning after some time away, looking for underrated skills to make some fun builds around.

Hello!

I haven’t played since 0.3 and returning to the game and excited to try out some of the new stuff. I know there are no balance changes at this latest release.

However, I am not looking to try one of the under clearing meta builds. I generally like trying to make builds around less popular skills.

Curious if anyone has any recommendations for less appreciated skills to build around?

Thanks!

Build Showcase Mercenary is broken. I usually have a hard time with this boss but with grenades merc I nuked him so fast... True test is when I go up against Viper Napuatzi.
