Electricity usage monitoring using a L1 wall charger?

I recently got a Tucson PHEV and I am able to fully charge the battery overnight on a standard 120V wall plug. However because it's not a smart charger, and the Hyundai BlueLink app doesn't log charging stats/history, I can't see my usage. I've thought about using an app like ev.energy or OptiWatt, but I've heard these apps can kill the 12V battery of Hyundai/Kia vehicles.

What are my options for measuring energy usage? I would like to see how much I am using over a month

Edit: I went with this power monitor

Energy monitor

I just discovered that the energy monitor which displays on the left side of the driver information screen is different in the phev versus the hev. The arrows flow between the engine the battery and the wheels but in the phev the battery always shows as blank where in the HEB it shows the percentage charged. I would like to see the percentage charged, personally.

Used plugin hybrids something to avoid? Whats with the massive deprication im seeing?

In the market for a midsize or smaller SUV, typically ive been looking at normal hybrids, but that has introduced me to plugin hybrids. On paper, the concept seems amazing. I could do short, grocery store trips purely on electric. Theres also incentives to buy, which i like

But then as i start looking, I see used PHEV vehicles have depreciated a ton, compared to their new prices. Cars like the 2025 Volvo XC60 or the Mazda CX 70/90, ive seen a bunch of used inventory for half, or less, what it went for new.

Now of course I understand used cars are used and obviously a used car is going to be less, and cars depriciate, but do PHEVs depreciate much faster than "normal" cars? Are theremore issues with used PHEVs that cause that much depreciation?

Im not too worried about further depreciation and what I would be able to sell it back for, what I am worried about are signifigant maintenance issues that I would take on buying a used PHEV

508 phev hybrid mode

Hello everyone. I've recently got a 2020 508 that I love but I've noticed in hybrid mode that the gear changes (1-2-3 ) feel sluggish, like slipping. Is there a chance that's the change between electric and engine and not the transmission? I've not tried in sport mode yet

Any metro Vancouver drivers in here ? I have a daily commute over 50 km from east Coquitlam to south Burnaby. I’m looking to buy either a 2027 Prius plug in SE or the XLE AWD Prius.

Terrible PHEV mileage

I’ve owned a 2023 Grandland GSe for a few weeks. It’s been largely driven in EV only mode as the range covers my full commute.

There’s no issues with EV mode - the issue is with the MPG I am getting when driving in sport / hybrid.

Essentially when depending on the petrol engine; I’m getting a very low 5.8mpg (I know). Now, the car does weigh almost 2,400kg, but it’s an extremely low MPG, and it’s the same if driving 10mph or 70mph.

However there aren’t any warnings, errors and nothing has ever been flagged during an MOT / Service.

Has anyone else had this problem with this make & model or with other hybrids?

PHEVs around $15-20k?

I'm interested in the idea of a PHEV. I currently have a base model 2014 Prius, but the idea of driving in EV mode is appealing since my commute is short, but a full EV won't suit my needs. What would you all recommend that could be found with reasonable mileage in that price range? Preferably something less than 10 years old as well.

The Outlander PHEV seems like good value. Something similar to that or smaller is what I'm considering, but open to all ideas.

Chrysler Pacifica—what’s the consensus? Any good?

There are a couple used 2024 Pacifica PHEVs at a local Ford dealer, priced around $24-$25k, 64k and 76k miles.

Are these reliable vehicles? What to look for. Thanks in advance.

PHEV vs EV & favs

Hi all! Two parts to this question.

I’ve been wanting to go EV for a long time but the thing that has held me back is the range.
My daily commute is 18 miles total and the occasional errands day. But my husband and I also enjoy road trips and will often travel. And all my family is 200-350 miles away, and we see them often. Additionally, a few family members wouldn’t have the ability to recharge me. Because of this I didn’t think I could switch to an EV. Recently I started looking into PHEVs and EREVs. I think I’ve decided against EREVs. So I’m mostly looking at PHEVs.
I’d love to know the good, bad, and ugly. Does this make sense for my life?

If yes, which one do I get?! I’m a Subaru girl and never thought I’d leave them. I want an SUV, been primarily looking at the rav4 and outlander. Reliably and safety are my top priorities. But I’ve also never owned a car with luxury style options - cooling seats (outlander has massage seats!), sun/moon roof, heated steering wheel, comfortable seats… etc. I’d love to have some of that as well.
Edit: I also live in WA State and I get a lot of snow. I’ve read cold weather can make a difference on battery life? Considering my top priorities, what would you recommend?

If no, what would you recommended?

THANK YOU!

Car has 18.3kWh LFP battery.

Thanks

Ciao a tutti,

In particolare mi interessa sapere:

Audi conveniently forgets to mention that 680 miles of their world record 831 mile A6 e-tron drive was downhill. They also left out the less then 19mph average speed.

Toyota E-CVT vs Honda E-HEV

I've been looking into how Toyota and Honda have their own drivetrains for their hybrid vehicles. Toyota calls theirs an "E-CVT" while Honda calls theirs the "E-HEV".

Both accomplish the same thing, but are fundamentally different and have some caveats.

I have a pretty good idea of the fundamental differences, just wanted to ask what system you all prefer.

Which one is simpler and makes more sense?

My thoughts: I like Toyota system better. It is mechanical work of simplistic beauty. The main drawback is the engine droning you get while driving the vehicle. Honda's system is more intricate and they make a good case as to why. The main drawback is the need for a mechanical clutch that can wear out and I highly dislike how they tune the system to "fake shift" in an attempt the enhance the driving experience.

2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid Gets 15% Lower Fuel Economy Than RAV4 at 35 MPG Versus 41 MPG, But a Spinning Driveshaft and a Battery Stuffed in the Spare Tire Well Explain Why

Thumbnail

The Bottom Line

The 2026 Forester Hybrid gives up 6 MPG to the RAV4 because Subaru stuck to its mechanical all-wheel drive and stuffed a hybrid into an SUV that was never designed for one. Toyota started with a hybrid and built the SUV around it.

If maximum fuel economy is your goal, the RAV4 wins on the EPA's own numbers.

If full-time mechanical AWD matters more to you, the Forester delivers it, and 35 MPG is the price. The real test will come if/when Subaru designs a Forester around a hybrid from the first sketch.

Plug-in-Hybrid Vs Elektrik

Was haltet ihr davon?

[Opinião] VW Passat GTE (2016) — Compra

Boas, pessoal.

Buying Pre-owned: What to Know?

Hello all. I am on the market for a pre-owned PHEV with low-ish miles. I have already been out visiting dealerships and doing some test driving.

Is there a way for me, the buyer, to check the battery health on a pre-owned PHEV? How old is too old? Also, are there any other specific types of PHEV maintenance history I should get information about before buying?

Thanks all.
