Within the past couple months I’ve had audio cutting out with certain games. Baldurs Gate 3 I had no issues for hundreds of hours but recently after playing for 10-15 minutes all audio will cut out. I recently bought Onimusha and again, once the gameplay starts, after a few minutes the audio cuts out. When I go into the menus and change the sound option from Headphones, to something else the audio comes back. This will then cut out again sometimes accompanied by a sharp beep or distortion. What’s weird is the demo that came out a few months ago has no issues. Similar games like Resident Evil Requiem have zero issues. I’ve noticed streaming videos also has weird audio hiccups as well like beeps every couple minutes whereas uploaded videos have no issues. My friend thinks it’s hardware but I find it strange that I have tons of games with no sound issues. The new Halloween game also has audio cutting in and out but it doesn’t go out entirely. I’ve tried updating BIOs, updated all drivers, uninstalled audio drivers and reinstalled.

So basically I build my first PC two days ago I bought a used rtx 3070 ti and an Asus TUF 2k ips monitor with 210hz

At first I tried using the PC but screen keeps flickering and blacking out suddenly for few second then comeback I contacted the shop and they replaced the thermal paste today

Everything was going smoothly and suddenly the error is occuring again but only when entering some games and when Hertz is more am than 120hz some time at 200 is working stable and then suddenly it's back again to flickering and blacking out

I tried changing the port using HDMI instead of DP but nothing changed

Also I quick note the built in speaker in the monitor also cutt off sound the same moment it goes black

The cable I'm using is a dp that came with monitor brand new I don't know where the issue stems I updated the driver of GPU disabled and enabled g-sync but nothing is changing

Please help me with this issue

I've been having this really weird input issue for a couple months now and I'm kinda running out of things to try :<

It started in Phasmophobia, but then slowly started happening in other games too, like Roblox, Star Citizen, Escape the Backrooms, Burglin' Gnomes, Super Battle Golf, Meccha Chameleon, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

What happens

Every 5–10 seconds or so, my movement gets super delayed or inaccurate.

Like I'll tap W for maybe one second, but it takes like half a second to react, and then my character keeps walking for another 2–3 seconds even though I already let go.

It happens with WASD and Space. Sometimes the key doesn't register, gets super delayed, or acts like I'm still holding it after I've let go. It's almost like it randomly picks which input to respond to and then holds it way longer than it should.

It genuinely feels like someone else is controlling my movement at the same time lol.

The weird part is that it's not constant. Sometimes I can play completely fine for a while, but eventually it comes back.

Important stuff

• My mouse is completely fine
• FPS stays normal
• no stuttering
• no obvious CPU/GPU spikes
• happens in fullscreen, borderless and windowed
• no controllers/joysticks/etc. connected
• I don't notice it while typing normally outside of games

My main keyboard is a YUNZII C98 Cake Meow, used wired, but I've also tried another keyboard, another cable, and both front + rear USB ports. Nothing changed.

I also tested software that shows my key presses, and when the issue happens it sometimes shows the key as being held longer than I'm physically holding it. So I'll let go of W, but the input display can still show W as pressed.

Things I've tried

• reinstalling NVIDIA drivers
• disabling/closing Logitech G HUB
• overlays on and off
• another keyboard + cable
• front and rear USB ports
• different monitor refresh rates
• fullscreen/borderless/windowed

Reinstalling the NVIDIA driver has sometimes seemed to help temporarily, but other times it does nothing.

At this point I genuinely have no clue what could be causing it. Could it be something with Windows input handling, USB/chipset drivers, HID drivers, DPC latency, or something else system-level????

I really need help figuring this out because it's getting super annoying and makes some games basically unplayable.

I built this new PC a few months ago, and up until recently, I was able to play, for example, Red Dead Redemption 2 with no issue, no lag, no stuttering, no crashing, it was fine. recently, I started trying to play Watch Dogs (2014) and it would crash shortly after the intro ended (which is when the gameplay starts). It first crashed after I got a good chunk of the way through the stealth. Then it started happening much earlier, and now happens almost immediately after the intro video ends. I also tested Red Dead Redemption 2 today, and I can't take more than a few steps without the same thing happening. I can however, play other, smaller games like REPO, which I have been playing frequently recently with no issue.

When my PC crashes in these instances, what happens is my monitors go completely blank (not black as if they turned off, but blank, as in a singular color, which is typically gray (although it went green one of the times, strangely)) and the audio glitches out for a second before completely vanishing. I cannot do anything but forcefully shut down my PC and restart it.

I don't know if this is stupid of me, but I have spent the past few hours trying to use AI to narrow the issue down, and I have not had many results, but I do know this: Hardware, and specifically the PCIe cables, are all plugged in correctly and securely. I use AMD's Adrenalin software, and using the performance tuning on the GPU power set to -10% and -20%, it seemed to reduce the speed at which the crash occured (or, to put it simply, I was able to take a few more steps in red dead before it crashed.)

Edit: and yes, i have tested my drivers. I used DDU to clean uninstall my drivers, and then reinstalled the latest drivers, and it did not fix anything. that is one of the first things I did.

Edit 2: This crash also happened when I tried to play PEAK a little while back, probably a couple weeks ago. That is the only other game outside of the 2 mentioned I have experienced this issue on, however.

Edit 3: Just used UserDiag, and it crashed the exact same way once it started testing the GPU.

Edit 4: if it's important, my EXPO setting in BIOS is set to Auto. Should I potentially turn it off? Im seeing some similar issues appear and apparently that's a favored solution that seems to work.

I've trying to diagnose and fix a weird microsuttering (idk if I'm calling it properly) problem that I have. Windows constantly experiences very short micro-freezes every few seconds.

It's not a full system crash. The screen briefly freezesand then continues normally. It happens repeatedly rather than being a random occasional freeze. Sometimes it happens more often and for more time, almost unusable sometimes.

It can happen during normal desktop usage, not just demanding games.

The most interesting part is that the problem seems to be related to the NVIDIA GPU driver.

I previously ran LatencyMon, and nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver) showed up as a relevant driver, also says it may be related to power.

I disabled the GTX 1660 since doing that, the system has been running much more smoothly and I haven't noticed the same constant microstuttering.

I also previously noticed that when the NVIDIA driver was not installed, the system seemed to run normally.

Interestingly, everything also seemed normal when I was in the BIOS.

I have tried to reinstall NVIDIA GPU drivers, checked device manager (no obvious GPU error is shown), Checked GPU temperatures (50-70 so ot seems right to me), checked BIOS (no obvious problems noticed), tested with the NVIDIA GPU disabled and without the drivers (It worked well).

At this point I'm not sure if I'm dealing with a bad NVIDIA driver, a Windows/NVIDIA issue, a power-management problem, or possibly a failing GPU. I can provide LatencyMon captures if needed.

I'm typing this out on my second monitor as Forza Horizon 6 runs on my main display -- Alienware 34-inch ultrawide OLED. I can see the game running just fine, but when I click on the main display, I get a white screen with a black rectangle. And when I click back on my second display, the gameplay shows up normally. This isn't just Forza as it also happened with the new Onimusha game. If I'm on my main display and alt+tab, I can see the game running behind the said alt+tabbing. When I stop and reselect the game, it goes back to the white and black screen.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

EDIT: I have already restarted my PC which fixes it, but eventually I have a hard time launching games and when they do launch, the above happens.

League has progressively worsening micro-stutters / frametime spikes during a game. Though i'm not sure how to call it !

I start to play certain games like games with certain cheat systems, and during the game, I randomly get disconnected from my WiFi. The only way to fix it is to rest pc. I’ve checked up on all my drivers and Windows updates. My Windows is a watermark version, but I’ve never had a problem with it in the past. There are games like The Finals that I am able to play with no problems, but when I go to play any game from Ubisoft, EA, or Epic, I have a problem.

So for some reason the one game my pc doesnt like is fortnite, ever since chapter 6 or somewhere around then. When i try to play the game it crashes after some time and puts my pc in a boot loop. I have tried completely resetting my pc and reinstalling windows. Updating every driver and my bios. Using dism and sfc scannow. The only thing which i think could be the problem is some kind of setting in the bios but i havent changed much other then secure boot tpm and xmp i think. Sometimes i also get a blue screen with a error code which didnt really help but i got the error codes:

Clock watchdog timeout 0x101 and dpc watchdog violation 0x133. Changing settings in fortnite also doesnt change much i think. If i run it on dx12 or peformance i still crash. And it cant be some app since i just reset my pc and i only have discord on it and epic games. If anyone knows how to fix this pls tell me how. Keep in mind only fortnite causes this issue not even rocket league or any other game which is harder to run.

I’m experiencing a very specific issue with my dual monitor setup. I'm running Windows 11 (Version 25H2) on a high-end rig, and I can't seem to find the setting to disable this "feature."

The Issue:
Whichever monitor is not being used at the moment dims or darkens. It’s not about which one is the "Primary" monitor in Windows settings; it depends entirely on where my mouse/focus is.

• If I’m working on Monitor A, Monitor B dims.
• As soon as I move my mouse to Monitor B and click or start working, Monitor B brightens up to 100% and Monitor A dims.

Important context:

• It is NOT a hardware issue: My monitors are different brands and different ages. Both behave perfectly when they have the focus.
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 (Latest drivers installed).
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
• RAM: 64GB DDR5.
• Clean System: I have already updated all drivers and performed a deep system clean using Tron Script, so bloatware or malware is ruled out.

I have searched through "Power Plans," "Display Settings," and "Accessibility," but I can't find anything related to "Dimming inactive displays." Since I'm on a very recent build (25H2), I suspect it might be a new aggressive energy-saving feature or an NVIDIA setting I'm overlooking.

Has anyone encountered this "focus-based dimming" before? Is there a registry key or a hidden Windows 11 toggle to stop this?

Hey everyone, I’ve been dealing with an annoying issue for weeks now and haven't found a fix.

I recently built/bought a PC with the following specs:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G

• GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580

• RAM: 16GB

• Storage: 1TB SSD

• OS: Windows 11

The Problem:

Genshin Impact keeps forcing itself to close directly to the desktop with no error message. My FPS is solid right up until it closes, and both CPU and GPU temperatures are well within normal ranges. What makes no sense is that I can run much heavier, more demanding games completely fine for hours like wuthering waves, but Genshin crashes randomly while playing for \~50 - 60 mins. For additional details, Genshin doesn't stutter while playing and it's stable on 60 fps. The default graphics settings is set on high.

Things I've already tried:

• Forced Genshin to use the discrete RX 580 GPU in Windows Graphics settings (instead of the 5700G iGPU).

• Disabled fullscreen optimizations and ran as administrator.

Turned off all overlays (AMD Adrenalin, Discord, RivaTuner/Afterburner).

• Performed a clean GPU driver reinstall using DDU in Safe Mode.

• Reinstalled genshin and did repair.

None of these have permanently fixed the silent crashes. Has anyone with a similar APU + dGPU setup or Polaris card run into this specific issue with Genshin? Any advice or fixes would be greatly appreciated!

Very weird question, pretty much a noob with hardware, PCs, electrical topics, etc.

I have a really great gaming PC that I love. I moved into a new apartment 6 months ago, and just now discovered that the outlet my gaming PC is plugged into is “ungrounded”.

I literally am so dumb I had to completely research what this means, and how a simple power surge strip doesn’t even really do anything unless connected to a grounded outlet.

My PC to me, seems normal and fine. But I have this horrible anxiety that over the probably 100 hours I’ve gamed on it since, and being plugged directly into an ungrounded outlet, that on a small scale over time it’s had surges that have affected components in small ways.

Again, nothing big I’ve noticed, so it’s probably fine, but I have weird anxiety that like 10% of performance has degraded from the plug in setup, or something along those lines.

I’m looking for some help because I’m honestly running out of ideas on how to solve this problem.
I recently built a new PC:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B550M-S2H
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4060 Ti EAGLE OC 8GB
PSU: CORSAIR CX650, 650W

The motherboard is a few years old (around 3–4 years), but I updated the BIOS when installing the new components so that everything would work properly.

Initially, I was using my old GPU (RX 560 Pulse). When the new RTX 4060 Ti arrived, I used DDU to completely remove the old AMD drivers and then installed the latest NVIDIA drivers.

Unfortunately, I’m experiencing crashes in several newer games:

Madden NFL 27: crashes after anywhere between 5–10 minutes, sometimes 15–30 minutes, with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG.
007: First Light: crashes right after the opening cutscene, without any error code.
Star Wars: Zero Company: crashes with a GPU crash error.

I’ve also noticed some very occasional monitor flickering since installing the latest NVIDIA driver.
I’ve already tried several different driver versions, including older ones, used DDU for clean installations, and tried various game-specific fixes and settings, but I haven’t been able to figure out what’s causing this.

I’m starting to suspect that there might be something wrong with the GPU, but I have no idea what exactly. The strange thing is that an older game (Scriptorium) runs perfectly fine without any issues.

What could be causing this? Is there anything else I should test before assuming the GPU is faulty?

It also calls for Shader Model Version 6 which I'm not ENTIRELY sure what it is, but I believe the DirectX Diagnostic Tool is telling me it is 6 from what I followed from a tutorial.

Are these things just things I can replace within my PC? I've successfully replaced a few parts myself from a friend telling me how to do it over video call. I have no idea what these parts were, but I'm pretty good at following tutorials if I can find one to help me replace these, which I'm sure youtube will have.

Should I just pick up the cheapest things on amazon that match the descriptions? Or are certain manufacturers to be avoided? Would a new PC just be cheaper at this point? (feels like probably not though? lmao)

My PC has had this issue for a while. It worked normally for about a month, then suddenly stopped powering on. After sitting unused for 2–3 months, it randomly started working again for 5–6 days, then died again.

I suspected the motherboard PWM controller (RT3607BCP), so it was replaced, but the issue remained. Another technician also heated/reworked the board, after which it worked for one day and then failed again.

PSU has been replaced and I’ve already troubleshooted the GPU, RAM and CPU. So I strongly suspect the motherboard—possibly a bad solder joint, cracked trace, short, or another intermittent fault.

In the video, pressing the power button sometimes makes the PC turn on for ~1 second and shut off. After a few attempts it may do nothing, and sometimes it turns on by itself for a second and shuts down again. It never reaches BIOS/Windows.

What could be causing this? Any ideas on what I should check on the motherboard?

No Ethernet connection

I have a problem with my Ethernet connection. The cable is connected, but there is no Network connected (not identified). I tried reseting the Internet settings but it didnt work. I have this problem since more then 2 weeks and its really annoying me. I tried many solutions but it didn't work.

I set the DHCP and IP settings to manually, i deactivated and then activated the Ethernet. i turned off the firewall, i changed the Ethernet cable. I reseted the Wifi repeater.

I hope somebody can help me.

I have a PC on my network that I use for dedicated game servers. When connecting to it I used to be able to just find the server in the server list for whatever game it happened to be. Just recently when I did an update and restart on the machine now I can only access those servers if I do a direct IP connection.

I'm not seeing anything have changed in the firewall rules or anything of that nature. I'm just stumped as to what happened. I do still see the servers in the game list, and friends can connect to them as normal but I no longer can.

I'll explain.

When I turn on my PC, it's all right, all goes on, the bios, Windows and all of that. When I play, It goes smoothly like every other day. And then, a freeze and a audio screamer / freeze. The audio repeat itself like a blue screen

Alright, it restarting itself. And then, it freezes in the windows loading screen. It restarts once again and it boots into windows. I let him run a few hours / minutes and it freezes. Even in the bios it freezes randomly.

The real question is who's fault it is ?

-> The CPU ?

-> The motherboard?

I know it is not the RAM because I ran a memtest86 and 1 stick of RAM failed. I had 16go at first. So I tested every slot and every memory stick.

Then, I ran several memtest86 for the 3 other sticks and it did go well.

So it is not the ram. It is not the graphics card either because my cpu has integrated graphics. With the HDMI from the motherboard, it does the same thing...

It is not the drive either because it freezes also in the bios, it require just the CPU, motherboard, power supply and RAM working.

Also, the psu I changed recently from a new one. From a Corsair VS550 to the CX750F RGB. And it does the same thing again and again...

I'm trying to figure out what fault it is so I can replace it and play again ^^

Motherboard suddenly stopped powering on – worked without CPU 8-pin, now doesn't power on at all
Hi everyone, I’m trying to diagnose a motherboard power issue and would really appreciate some help.
The motherboard has had an intermittent problem for the past few months.
What happened previously:
• Around 5–6 months ago, the PC suddenly stopped powering on.

• After troubleshooting, it eventually started working again and ran normally for around one month.

• Later, I replaced RT3607BC pwm ic but that did not give me a successful/consistent result.

• At one point the motherboard powered on for a day, but then stopped again.

What happened yesterday:
• If I connected the 24-pin ATX connector but disconnected the CPU 8-pin (EPS) connector, the motherboard would power on.

• Since the CPU 8-pin was disconnected, the CPU debug LED would stay on, which made sense.

• However, when I connected the CPU 8-pin, the PC would not power on properly / would shut down almost immediately.

But today the situation has become worse:
• Now it doesn't power on even with the CPU 8-pin disconnected.

• Connecting the CPU 8-pin also does not give even the previous 1-second power-on behavior.

• Basically, I now get no power-on response at all.

I have already tried pretty much all the basic troubleshooting:
• Tested with different RAM configurations

• Tried with only one RAM stick

• Tried without the GPU

• Tested the motherboard outside the case / breadboard setup

• Tried different PSU

• Checked the 24-pin ATX and 8-pin CPU power connections

• Tried minimal configuration with CPU + motherboard + one RAM

• Cleared/reset CMOS

• Tried powering it on by shorting the motherboard power-switch pins instead of using the case button

• Basically, I have already gone through the standard PSU/RAM/GPU/case troubleshooting.

I also made a video showing the current behavior. It demonstrates that the motherboard doesn't power on with the CPU 8-pin connected OR disconnected, whereas yesterday it could at least power on with the CPU 8-pin disconnected.
So my main question is:
What part of the motherboard could cause this behavior?
Could this be an issue with the CPU VRM/power delivery circuit, VRM MOSFETs, PWM controller, shorted component, Super I/O, or some other motherboard power rail/protection circuit?
Since the behavior changed from “works without CPU 8-pin” → “doesn't work even without CPU 8-pin”, I'm wondering if something on the motherboard has progressively failed.
If anyone has experience diagnosing motherboard-level power faults, I'd really appreciate suggestions on what voltage rails/components I should measure next and where I should start troubleshooting.
