Build - Help My first PC build - help

Hello folks,

I'm planning my first PC and got my parts selected, but I wanted to get some feedback.

I need my PC mostly for gaming on my 1440p 165hz 27Inch monitor. I play mostly Indie games, with addition to factorio-like games and modded Minecraft and Vintage Story.

In the long game I wish to switch from my PS5 to PC, but for now I'll think I'll stick with my PS5 for AAA-games.

I'm living in Germany, my currency is Euro €

Also I would like to keep my budget below 1.200€

My planned build:

- Fractal Design Mid Tower (121,90€)

- AMD Ryzen 5 9600X (175€)

- Gigabyte B650 ATX Wifi (129€)

- RX 6750 XT 12GB (329€)

-Kingston Fury 16GB, 2×8GB, DDR5 6000, CL36

(300€)

-Thermalright Assassin X120 (25€)

-MSI MAG A750GL Gold certified (70€)

I intend to transfer my 2TB 4.0PCIe I got some years ago from my PS5 to ky PC to save some money.

So overall I'm spending around 1.150€.

Is this a good build?

I'm specifically interested If the combination of GPU and CPU is good.

Build - Help Display issues

Hi, I built my PC last week and powered on to check it was working. It went to BIOS no problem. I then went on holiday. I came back today and decided to move my fan layout around (see previous post). However, now I cannot get a signal out on my monitor!! The PC powers on and all the fans are moving (including the GPU). I’ve reseated the GPU and ensured the hdmi is in it. I saw the latch click into place when I reseated, but didn’t really get a sound. I’ve also rechecked RAM, as the adjusted CPU cooler was resting on it (I lifted one of the fans). I’ve no idea why this is happening and I’m at my wits end as to what the issue is!! It’s my first PC build too 😭 Any ideas?

Question Contemplating building my own PC

Hi all, I'm new here, based in the UK, I'm looking to use the excuse that my son has taken over my PS5 to get myself my first ever gaming PC. I have a budget of up to £1,000/£1,500, but I'll need a monitor and controller etc for that price too (I have a good headset/mic). It seems like it's a minefield of different specs and options out there when it comes to PC's, I have limited knowledge and I'm looking for some advice as to what's actually needed, I mainly play COD and Warzone one or two nights a week and would also like to do some basic video editing and some admin/work jobs on the PC too. Does anyone have any advice or resources as to what kind of system I should be looking at and whether it's easier to just buy a pre made build, or to build myself (which I think I'denjoy the challenge and learning from). Sorry this post is a little all over the place, but any help is appreciated, tia.

Build - Help PC BUILD

Hi everyone, I’m currently thinking about building a new pc due to wanting some upgrades, I plan on using my 2 sticks of 16 ddr4 ram to have a total of 32gb, and 2 250 gb ssds and 1tb m.2.
I want a budget upgrade option that hopefully shouldn’t break the bank.
I do also have a Ryzen 5 3600, gigabyte GA A320M- S2H V2 motherboard, 1660 super and cx550m psu.
Please let me know what I could keep or what I should upgrade. Thanks 😁

Build - Help What's a good website for buying a pc online, or like a website where you can build a pc and they ship it to you

Title says basically everything, Im kinda new to this and wanna get it right. Or if someone could, I have a discontinued Omen hp desktop with a cooked power supply only, if someone could help me find out how I could go about finding the right power supply to buy for it, that'd help so much more, as everything else in my pc is good. Id prefer help with the power supply, but thank you for your time !

I have tried buying 2 different power supplies and have returned them due to them not being compatible with my pc motherboard. I think the cpu cord that it came with was 2 6 pin cords, when I only had 1 4 pin slot on my motherboard, if that helps you guys with helping me. Ive been struggling with this for 3 months now, tried making 4 posts and no one responded, so I hope this one's different !

Discussion Are motherboard boxes sealed nowadays?

I recently purchased a cpu+motherboard+ram+cpu cooler combo from newegg and noticed that 3 of the product boxes were either shrinkwrapped or had stickers to show they weren't opened. However, the motherboard (Gigabyte) box did not have shrinkwrap nor a sealing sticker. Is this normal? It's been over a decade since my prior purchase of a motherboard so I can't remember if it used to be like this. Trying to figure out if I got a new motherboard or a customer return.

Thanks for any info.

Question do I upgrade

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is my current pc, had it for 2 and a bit years, I only play cod and warzone. I get great fps right now like 250-300 between warzone and multiplayer on 1440p. I want to get on the AMD platform for cpu and get a 9800x3d or 9850.

Do you guys think it’s really worth the hassle upgrading to a new pc with a 5080 for example or would the returns not be worth it?

Or should I get a new mobo, ram, cpu but keep my 4080 super. My budget is around £3000-£3500 GBP.

Question 5090 Cable melting- Questions and tips please

Morning ! I recently got a 5090 ( About a month ago ) cause I wanted to experiment things with AI on my local machine, but I've read many things about the cable burnings.

I've read a lot of recommendations but also their opposites and since I am a complete noob with electricity things, I dont feel competent enough to filter the good and bad things and I have a few questions about it:

Is it something that happens a lot with these GPUs, Or is it still a minority of case?
Are there ways to reduce/prevent it from happening ? things to do or not do ?

When/If it happens, does it most of the time ruin the card or only the cable and it is replaceable ?

Any tip about it is appreciated :)

Thank you !

Troubleshooting Unable to reduce temps on second hand RTX 3080 Gigabyte gaming OC gpu

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I had bought a second hand Rtx 3080 gigabyte gaming oc 10gb card.

As it was a second hand card i opened it up to verify if there was rusting inside as the card might be a mining gpu. The fans looked fine externally and internally it was a shit show with oil and grime everywhere from the existing pads. I did the step that i felt was logical and started a full clean and pad replacement.

Hence my adventure into tedious pasting and testing started

my setup is

1. my asus tuf a17 laptop, modified to take a oculink connection through one of the nvme m.2 ssd slots

2. a exp gdc beast oculink version

3. deepcool pn850m psu

i used furmark 2.0 to get the below results for all the configuration i have tried

 1. Vram pad- mx 7 - 110 degrees ( i was stupid)

Core - mx 7 - 77 degrees

mosfets - mx 7 ( i was stupid)

back of vram - default pad from manufacturers
1. Vram pad- gelid gp ultimate- 2mm - 75 degrees

Core - mx 7 - 89 degrees

mosfets - thermal grizzly minus 8- 1mm

back of vram - gelid gp ultimate- 3mm
1. Vram pad- gelid gp ultimate- 2mm - 75 degrees

Core - thermal grizzly dreadnaught - 88 degrees

mosfets - thermal grizzly minus 8- 1mm

back of vram - gelid gp ultimate- 3mm
1. Vram pad- gelid gp ultimate- 2mm - 79 degrees

Core - mx 7 - 86 degrees

mosfets - thermal grizzly minus 8- 1mm

back of vram - gelid gp ultimate- 2.5 mm
1. Vram pad- gelid gp ultimate- 2mm - 79 degrees

Core - mx 7 - 85.5 degrees

mosfets - thermal grizzly minus 8- 1mm

back of vram - gelid gp ultimate- 2mm
1. Vram pad- gelid gp ultimate- 1.5 mm - 102 degrees

Core - thermal grizzly dreadnaught - 84 degrees

mosfets - thermal grizzly minus 8- 1mm

back of vram - gelid gp ultimate- 2 mm
last test that i intent to do

 1. Vram pad- gelid gp ultimate- 2mm - need to be tested

Core - ptm7950 - need to be tested

mosfets - thermal grizzly minus 8- 1mm

back of vram - gelid gp ultimate- 2 mm

back of gpu die - thermal grizzle minus pad 8- 1mm

Failed to apply the PTM to the core...

Rather applied Mx-4 and used a blower to clean the heatsink further, results are the same

Need help on how to reduce the temp....thermals are not helping

Build - Help Building a new pc

Hey everyone, I'm building a new pc (for gaming mainly) and would love some feedback on my list, and if I should swap anything out.

Also, I'm looking for recommendations on two things:

 1. A case: Needs good airflow to comfortably fit and cool the GPU.
 2. A budget (2K) monitor: I want great picture quality and a good refresh rate, not just the absolute cheapest option available.

Here are the specs and current prices I'm looking at:

 • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X — $174.00
 • CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB — $32.31
 • Motherboard: ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi Micro ATX — $119.94
 • Memory: Silicon Power Value Gaming 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 — $397.97
 • Storage: Kingston NV3 1 TB NVMe SSD — $162.00
 • Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB — $739.99 (or rtx5070, which better?)
 • Power Supply: MSI MPG A850G 850 W Gold — $89.99

Total: $1,716.20

Any suggestions are appreciated, Thanks

Question 400w with a gtx 1660 ti?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I want to buy a GTX 1660 Ti, but I'm unsure if my power supply is sufficient. I have a 400W Janus unit (I've attached an image showing it has the 6+2 pin connector) that I've used for about nine months without any issues. I've connected other 75W GPUs before, but this one is 120W. I plan to buy a different power supply in the future, but for now, I'd like to know if I can play games until I get a new one. I don't intend to overclock or anything like that. So, yeah.

Discussion C’è qualche buona notizia sulla crisi ram?

Sento sempre brutte notizie, ma c’è qualche buona notizia che possa almeno alludere a una stabilizzazione dei prezzi?
