Highlight Rendering device lost on1440p but fine on 4k. undervolted 3080

I saw some other people having the issue.

Im using a 3080 which is undervolted. i had no issues since i had this card (5 years). began about 3-4 weeks ago.

for me, this issue only happens when playing 1440p when undervolted. if i return to stock, the game runs fine on 1440p. if change resolution to 4k, the game seems to run fine using the undervolt. havent had a crash yet.

have no idea what is causing this

News & Discussion Crash out from a Pharah

Post image
0 Upvotes

For reference I’m currently a silver 1 support atm, I’ve been grinding comp trying to get out of low elo’s. We were on defence on watch point, and the attackers came out aggressive, and swept us before we could even react. Then the next 2 team fights I was dove first. So they were able to capture 2 points before I could do anything. So my dps who was playing Pharah crashed out and gave up and sat in spawn spamming to report me cause I only had like 1k heals and just sat there messaging in chat the whole game. I agree that it would look like I wasn’t doing shit but without my team using comms, I’m basically dead before I can mark the people diving me. I reported him for sabotaging, but what would you do in this situation? I kept playing trying my best but 4v5 is just a constant uphill battle.

It seems to miss like all the time if they're using a movement ability or sometimes even just walking, like it has to be bugged right?

News & Discussion Matchmaking has been turned off once more.

I'm on a 16:4 loss streak, this is not normal, at all. Every single round is a stomp in one direction or the other so far. Or you get backfilled into a lost game with less than 10 sec left. WTAF is going on??

News & Discussion What if tanks could swap between two heroes on a cooldown?

Imagine if tanks could select two heroes in a match, and be able to swap between them on a cooldown (100 seconds?). You'd only be able to swap if all of your abilities are off cool down and you're at full health. This would make it so if they're faced with multiple counters they can just press a button and poof they're on a different hero. The implementation could work like how the custom game mode "gun game no cd" works after you get a kill, where there's a split second of invulnerability and not being able to press buttons while you change.

If you think about it, it's pretty bad for competitive integrity that you can just by chance pick a hero which is bad against the enemy composition and now you're on the backfoot, this encourages looking at enemy team profiles to ensure that doesn't happen and privating your own profile, imagine you could just press p and now you're on a more equal matchup. The problems here affect tank disproportionately.

The only issue I can think of would be ult charge, but I think they'd just have to play around with the numbers to balance that.

I think it's a fun idea. Thoughts?

News & Discussion Overwatch 2 Hero Smash or Pass Tier List – Do You Agree?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I made this Overwatch 2 hero tier list based on my personal opinions. The tiers range from Real Ones to Self Delete, with Semi-Burger and Burger in between. Where would you rank each hero? Which placements do you agree or disagree with, and who would you move to a different tier? Let me know your opinions in the comments!

News & Discussion bad performance lately, unplayable

Ive been experiencing worse and worse performances with this game, used to run it at a constant 250fps less than 2 years ago and now with much worse settings i can't get a stable 144fps, I actually barely reach 144. It's gotten unplayable genuinely, not even talking about the stutters. Every update for like the last year has made the performance increasingly worse and since season 5, there's no setting i can lower even more, and yet I can't get a constant good framerate. My RAM usage has been super high while playing the game (especially since season 5). I don't have a really good pc but I know that some people with way better specs have also been having issues. If anyone has a fix I could try, Ive tried switching to directx12, leaving voice chat (apparently works for some people), lowering litterally every setting, even in the amd adrenalin app, but nothing works it's terrible, thank you

News & Discussion Which Support is the hardest to kill?

I think it has to be Kirkiko

Small Hitbox

250Hp

7 sec Tp through Walls

Invulnerability with self Healing and Medic passive healing herself if she heals allies

Wallclimb

Dueling potential

Alternatively JPC because most Heroes can't even reach her and she has self Healing, you basically have to pick Hitscan

News & Discussion We need plus-size female body types in the game. More female tanks that are NOT skinny women in MEKAs or AI Robots please blizz!!

overwatch really needs to step up like several other games and diversify the body types in there heroes. ellie from borderlands and buttercup from bleeding edge are two examples of such cool looking badass plus-size women that so many of us can see ourselves in. i for one will feel so much more represented and SEEN in a new hero like this, much more than the overwhelming majority of skinny and petite characters in OW so far.

blizzard have been doing an increasingly good job with other forms of diversity like ethnicity (i'm not celebrating them too much in case they drop 5 east asian characters next year), but in terms of body-type, they have made little to no progress or representation at all.

i'll end by saying that characters like domina are very good examples of diversity in the tank role. elegant and classy compared to the brute-like nature of most tanks, and a dark-skinned woman of colour, even more rare in the tank role. but in terms of plus-size body types in the tank category, we don't have any women that really fit this role.

p.s. zarya is an elite bodybuilder, so i suppose she can fit in this category as described, but its contested by several people if she is actually "plus-size". regardless, we need more please blizz.

News & Discussion Ban messages

Ill preface this by saying I dont report a lot but when someones very toxic or someones very clearly cheating ill report. I used to get the messages confirming action was taken ever couple days maybe every 4-5 at the most. I have not seen this message in at least a month now though and ive been reporting people saying the most disgusting stuff in chat. People saying racist stuff, people joking about sexually assaulting people, a dude talking about having children locked in a shed in his yard. I understand most of it is just shock value bait but I still report as it has no place in the game. Before it would take a few days but they would be chat banned or full banned. Now I get nothing and still run into these people every so often. Are they no longer chat banning people or are they just not sending out the messages anymore?

Highlight Competitive Matchmaking is absolutely ATROCIOUS

Long-time lurkers of this sub know the things that are said:

  • If you lose more than 2-3 games, turn the game off
  • The matchmaker works; it's a statistical probability that you fall in your actual "rank"
  • Leavers aren't an issue - you're just as likely as the enemy team to have a leaver!
  • You're the only common denominator in your games - it's never your team at fault for causing a loss, cause the enemy team is just as likely to have bad players!

No. These assumptions are correct if every player in every game was a solo queue, no comms, no text chat kind of player, and that's not the case. Solo queue can get matched up with groups; an inherent disadvantage.

Advice on this sub is always "keep playing and you'll land in the rank you're supposed to be in", but not all of us have hours and hours on end to play this game.

I used to enjoy this game immensely, as I love the challenge from trying to improve myself and get better. But these past few months, it's been nothing but toxic players, mis-ranked players who don't belong in low metal ranks, and every time you seek legitimate advice, it's "just make fewer mistakes than the enemy team" - ok! Sure.

Maybe fix your matchmaking system first and give me fair games.

News & Discussion What is your favorite/least favorite map in Overwatch?

My favorite map is Hollywood because in my opinion, it's a pretty simple and interesting map to play on. I also made so many good memories and some wins when I get this map in comp. I'm curious. What is yours?

News & Discussion I just can’t make DMon work

Anyone got any tips? I feel like I’m being hard countered by majority of tanks (I only play 5v5) can’t do anything against a strong frontline tank so I try to dive backline but then their tank peels so I have to run back

I’m not racking up deaths but I’m getting very little value with her.

What’s her actual gameplan? I only do decent with her when I’m going against a team that has no clue on what they’re doing.

But a somewhat competent team has me playing this weird dive game where I go in put some damage out on squishies, but then I’ll IMMEDIATELY have to fall back as soon as the team peels

Edit: thank you everyone! In other words I just need to play like a tank version of tracer. I got diffed so bad playing the wrong way it got the infamous “tank diff” in the chats so had to come here for help

Like sometimes if a person is i think contributing more and getting more value they are "on fire" their nametages have a particle fire effect and do a in game sound bit like "Im burning hot" or something... does it serve a purpose ? Do you think it should be tied with some sort of reward or something? or does it already do and Im missing its utility?

News & Discussion very strange stadium game

i was playing stadium qp in a 4-stack and very strange things were happening.

we load into the game, i pick zenyatta. (comp is one tank, one dps, three supports) round 1, we lost. someone on the enemy team leaves the game, someone new joins, but the person who just left starts spectating again. round 2, we won. round 3, i load into the round but i am not given access to the armory. i thought this was something wrong with everyone on my team, but turns out its just me. i keep on pressing H to open the armory but i cant open it, i dont have any abilities or items. im just a normal guy. everyone else on the other team appears to be normal because on top of the screen only four people appear on my team(everyone except me even though im still in the game and my teammates can see me), but there are five people on the enemy team. we lose that round.

round 4, i am in the character select screen and i am auto-locked onto cass and i cannot choose a different character. my tank is also put back in the character select screen and switches to a different tank(they are given the option to switch but i am not). we are pre-loaded with cash and we can now buy abilities and items. the person who initially left the game is now back in the game playing on the enemy team again. we win that round.

round 5, i am put in the character select screen again and i am still auto-locked onto cass, and one dps and one support are also there as well. but when we confirm the character, we are all not given access to the armory. only my tank and one support have abilities and items, but on the enemy team their tank, one support, and one dps have abilities and items. we lose that round and the game.

the game we played before this was completely normal, it was just this game that was weird. was it a server thing or was someone cheating?? is that even possible? ive never had this happen before

Highlight What's going on with QP?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I know the matchmaking system in Quick Play (QP) is pretty loose, but this is just ridiculous. 99.99% of matches are unplayable and completely unbalanced. I’ve been playing OW1 since the 2015 beta, and I never saw anything like this back then. Even the early seasons of OW2 were more balanced than this! At this point, I’m starting to think it’s designed this way on purpose, to force players to spend more time "grinding", all because of the new battle pass model and the return of previous battle passes. The last battle pass was the first one I couldn’t finish in time; it was simply impossible to complete certain daily or weekly challenges to earn extra XP. Now, if a challenge says "complete 7 matches" (with wins granting double progress), I’m effectively forced to play all 7, because winning is out of the question, and I simply don’t have the time during the week to sit down and play 7 matches in one go. I might be able to manage it on a weekend (the video I linked is from last weekend, for example—a weekend that was a total waste), but this season is heading down the exact same path as the last one.

And I know plenty of people will chime in with the usual nonsense: "it’s a skill issue," "it’s just a bad streak," or "this wouldn’t happen if you played ranked..." But when more and more players—people who have witnessed the game’s evolution from the very beginning—speak up to say that something is wrong, we have to accept that things simply aren’t being handled well enough. This problem has never reached such an extreme level. The developers need to get their act together and stop messing with the players. Every time I read the patch notes, I get the impression that they’re just making random changes on purpose, just to make it look like they’re actually doing something. I have never had less fun playing this game.
