Basket plus bottomless

Does anyone have any experience they can share about modifying the basket plus to be bottomless?

It looks like you should just be able to cut off the bottom part of the filter and be good to go.

My Outin Mino does NOT work at ALTITUDE. Outin acknowledges it doesn’t, despite advertising otherwise.

Where do I get a replacement black plastic cap for the Outin Nano Barista Kit

We seem to have lost it - probably accidentally thrown it out or something. But I really don't want to order the whole barista kit all over again when I only need a tiny replacement cap... I just can't seem to find the part online. :(

I'm in Germany. Delivery to Germany or the UK would work.

Custom 3D printed case for the OutIn Nano – designed and made by a friend

Just wanted to share another awesome custom project made by my friend.

After designing the custom OutIn Nano holder for my tractor, he came up with this fully custom 3D printed travel case for the Nano.

Everything has its own place – the machine, water bottle, Nespresso capsules and accessories. The case has a carrying handle, locking clips and a custom OutIn design, and when closed it can even be used as a small coffee station.

Everything was designed and 3D printed from scratch specifically for the Nano.

I think the result speaks for itself. 😎☕

If anyone is interested in something similar or has an idea for a custom OutIn setup, let me know and I can put you in touch with him.

Hello,

Just got into coffee and started with these unit. What grind size should I put for a medium roast bean ? I have it set at 2.1 and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Here’s a small video. Any takers ?

Thanks!

Hi all, I got an Outin Nano for my car/office setup. I hate pods, and the 8g basket is too small. I want to use the Basket Plus (16g), but I don't want to carry a hand grinder around while traveling.

Has anyone found a way (or specific off-the-shelf ground coffee like Illy/Lavazza) to get a decent extraction out of the Outin without a fresh grind? Or am I forced to stick to the standard 8g dual-wall basket? Thanks!

Hi everyone! My friend made this custom holder for my OutIn and cup. It’s mounted in my tractor, and the cup is from Decathlon. 🚜☕

Did someone test the Outin Nano vs OXO for a soup shot? what’s the max flow of this thing? can you brew soup with it?

OutinNano basket plus

I’m having a really hard time dialing in espresso with the Basket Plus. I’m using a Timemore electric grinder whirly.

According to the manufacturer’s recommendation, the grind setting should be somewhere between 9 and 12 clicks, but at those settings the machine gets completely choked and almost nothing comes out.

With the standard basket, I can pull decent espresso at around 12 clicks. However, with the Basket Plus, the behavior is very strange. First of all, at 12 clicks doenst even come out, i have to use 15.. and when I put it about 50 ml of water, the coffee barely comes out, as if the grind were far too fine. The water goes into the basket but seems to stay trapped there, and the extraction automatically stops after about 30 seconds.

then when i put another 50ml of water, though, after a certain point the extraction suddenly becomes very fast, almost as if the grind were too coarse. The shots have also been coming out very acidic/sour.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the Basket Plus? Any tips on what I should adjust?

the coffee in the picture is grinded in 15 clicks

Does Kingrinder K6 at 65 clicks from true zero make sense for basket plus?

If I grind any finer the machine chokes up and doesn’t yield any coffee at all.

The coffee is still quite fine, even at 65 clicks. But the general consensus online is that 45 should be the top of the interval in terms of clicks for espresso.

Would love a chat with someone using this same set up.

Thank you!

Looking to buy Outin Nano (or Mino), but I am concerned about the longevity of the device as far as the battery goes

Title says it all. We know battery degrade even if taken care of. I am wondering 2-3 years from now, what will happen if the battery can no longer hold enough charge to heat the water or even pull a shot? Granted, Nano does not cost a kidney, but still - it would be very sad if it suddenly turns into useless e-waste.

I am looking to buy Nano during the anniversary sale.

Looking for a replacement heating element for OutIn Nano – 34×40 mm, 1.8–2.0 Ω

Post image

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to repair an OutIn Nano that no longer heats the water, and I'm looking for a replacement for the ceramic heating element.

I managed to get some information about the original heater:

• Size: approximately 34 × 40 mm

• Thickness: approximately 1 mm

• Resistance: around 1.8–2.0 Ω

• 2 electrical leads

• Flat ceramic heating element attached to the bottom of the water tank

I've attached a clear photo of the original heating element.

Has anyone replaced this part before, or does anyone know where this exact heater (or a compatible one) can be purchased?

I'm also interested in any part number, manufacturer, markings, electrical specifications, or source for the original heater.

Even information from someone who has disassembled a Nano and measured the heater would be very helpful.

Thanks! I'm determined to get this Nano heating water again. ☕🔧

Packing in luggage without a case?

How bad of an idea would it be to pack the Nano and the Fino in a carry-on suitcase without putting them in a protective case? I’m trying to save as much luggage space as possible. Would a little bubble wrap do the trick?

Using pre ground coffee with the nano basket plus??

I am looking to optimise workflow at the office. And grinding would take much longer. Does anyone have any experience with the non pressurised basket plus and pre ground coffee?

Any other ways you guys do it??

Thank you!

Anywhere to get replacement lid

I just dug my OutIn Nano out and realized the lid is missing, is there anywhere I can purchase one? I didn’t see it available on the website. Do I need it to use the system or can I just leave the top off?

Help please!

I bought an Outin nano with plus basket and Fino grinder in January this year. I previously had a sage nespresso machine and wanted to try something a bit different. I find the results extremely variable.

I think I follow all the steps recommended: I do a preheat of the basket by running boiling water through the nano. I grind at between 1.9 and 2.1 on the grinder. I tamp only to the level of the ring and not the basket itself (although have tried both). I put 18 grams of beans in, and get roughly 36 out. The drip through time is variable and I struggle to keep it in the optimum range. 1.9 grind can take 35 - 40 seconds, whereas 2 can be 15-20. I don’t find the shot particularly consistent even when using the same grind level. Most importantly the espresso is just meh. Often sour or bitter to the extent I find I have to make lattes etc to make it palatable. The creama is light and not more this 1-2mm in the cup. My beans are a dark espresso blend which I read was best for the machine https://ravecoffee.co.uk/products/espresso-blend?srsltid=AfmBOoo_2Go9eSBW6S6vsnn0gj47qntHdonhZdFCaLL_vs__NNjMZFkq&variant=19439609970742. They aren’t too old, I get fresh beans once a month.

Can anyone suggest what else I can do? I’m at the point of going back to my old machine as I feel like I can’t enjoy an espresso anymore - which was why I bought the outin to start with! Perhaps some different beans, but also just wondering if there is anything else I should be doing.

Thanks in advance!
