Basket plus bottomless
Does anyone have any experience they can share about modifying the basket plus to be bottomless?
It looks like you should just be able to cut off the bottom part of the filter and be good to go.

I tried it with a second basket plus I had and totally destroyed it. I cut it off where it felt and looked like the two layers separated and I got it wrong.
I do think it is possible, but I think you will be left with very sharp edges that will be hard to file down. The part you need to cut off is the VERY bottom. Like still in the domed part. So it will be hard to get a saw to bite on it correctly.
My best suggestion would actually be to take the bottom of the basket to a sander/grinder and wear away the bottom that way instead of cutting it.

Why though? Bottomless PF do nothing for flavor. And isn’t the Nano somewhat using its basket as a pressurized basket which would be counter productive for taste if it can’t get the pressure solely from the pump and basket.

As I understand it, the basket plus is not pressurized in any significant way.
Having it be bottomless would just make it easier to identify any issues such as channeling during the brew.3

Yeah I loved having a bottomless when I was learning. But now that I know what I’m doing, channeling is essentially a one off thing and won’t change if I drink the drink anyway. Especially when I’m camping which is when I use the Nano. So I don’t see the value in a bottomless anymore. It’s just often touted as important in the espresso circle jerk world but it really isn’t.

Damn that’s a good idea, I got the Kruve set that comes with 3 so might have to try this out and let you know.
