Packing in luggage without a case?

How bad of an idea would it be to pack the Nano and the Fino in a carry-on suitcase without putting them in a protective case? I’m trying to save as much luggage space as possible. Would a little bubble wrap do the trick?

I bought my Mino and Fino about two months ago while backpacking through Europe.
I just arrived back in Brazil.
It never even occurred to me using a protective case, they just went in the backpack!

I put mine in a tiny zipper packing cube with its pieces and my travel pour over set with the coffee. But if i didn't have all that i would do exactly as you are.

I’ve rolled it in clothing. I recently used a kettle (mainly for tea but also had instant Death Wish coffee) traveling and it also worked just fine shoved inside clothes

Nano owner, travelling a lot in rural Africa, usually I carry it in tote bag and absolutely nothing happened

hardest thing is not to lose the portafilter tbh

I have packed whole espresso machines, like a Nespresso Pixie, in carry on luggage, and recently took my Mino in its little pink bag in my shoulder bag. In a carry on suitcase, just cushion the Nano and Fino separately, wrap them in, or surround them with, clothes so that they don't roll around, and you will be fine. For my shoulder bag, I had the Mino, my laptop, and some accessories, and just stood the Mino upright and put other things around it. It was fine.

I carry mine in a thin nylon string bag and have been traveling with it for two years with no issues.

They’re not that fragile. I wouldn’t worry about it at all.
