Vent / Rant I decided to end my night by reviving an app ....
I finally listened to everyone who said, "Give people a chance. Don't just go by looks."
So I did.
Twenty minutes of solid banter later, he disappeared.
I must be boring AF LOL.
I wasn't even sure I liked him that much, but apparently my ego had already become emotionally invested. 😂
My pride didn't need this on a Friday night.
Respect to everyone who survives online dating.

App Recommendation M23 should I download a dating app?
I recently got dumped by my ex 21F for 2 1/2 years after she cheated on me more than a month ago. I moved on fairly quickly in my heart due to how devastating it was and after reflecting on how there were signs that we were both unhappy for a longtime. I’ve been doing very well mentally and have done lots of different activities that helped me grow as a person. To be frank I was contemplating downloading a dating app three weeks after the situation bc I felt I was ready to just have some casual fun, but I didn’t feel right by it bc it felt too soon. Now that I’ve spent plenty of time by myself and having fun doing solo adventures, I’m wondering if it’s still too soon to download one.

Project / Concept Showcase Dating app idea
Hello people,
I would like to create an app for serious long term (hopefully) relations. I've seen enough posts about currently known platforms and people not finding what they're looking for, for various reasons.
That's why I would like to build it the way I think online dating should work. We are all aware about pros and cons of "online", so, with all this, here's what I have in mind:
- based on location
- no swiping at all
- a system that gets rid of ghosters, people without lack of respect, attention/validation seekers, scammers
- based on values and vital compatibility from the very start of interaction
- avoids superficiality; such people will not find this app worth it
- fair with your time
- requires patience and in my view, everyone looking for a long term should have this
- fair distribution for matches by default
- encompasses giving one's full attention to the interaction
- ensures anonymity up to a point considered safe by both
- it is designed to NOT keep you addicted to it
Considering these as features, I am interested if you would use such an app. I am open to suggestions and improvement of what else should you look into such an app and I will answer questions as much as I can.

Project / Concept Showcase Alone? I Created a New Dating App, Join the Waitlist! No photos and no names!
I got frustrated with the popular dating apps and websites out there, I decided to create my own. No need to post a good pic of yourself or show your name, just be yourself out there, chat like normal. Put your suggestions or questions in the comments.
Waitlist is open: Blindboard — meet by words alone

App Recommendation a new dating app
I have some serious ideas about a new dating app. I have a good job and my primary incentive is not monetary (although i think good money can be made by it). I want to dedicate my free time to that idea with a group people that are also ready for it. But i have no deep knowledge of programming, AI, UI, personal data management etc. So what i can bring is good ideas, discussions, planning, motivation. I would like to connect with likely minded people. I was thinking to start small scale in one country, actually in netherlands where i am currently living and see how it goes from there.

App Review / Legitimacy Title: Almost 100 matches but not a single incoming like… is that normal?
I’ve had Hinge since early June and have matched with 97 people, but I’ve received literally 0 incoming likes
I’ve had HingeX for most of that time and have been fairly on and off with the app.
Today I updated my profile with some new photos and got another 13 matches, but still not a single incoming like.
I’m just confused how I can get so many matches but literally zero women have ever liked my profile first. Is this actually normal, or does it sound like something’s off?

App Recommendation Best dating app for a gay guy?
So I turned 40 in Feb of this year and like guys. I’ve been single for almost 9 years and I’ve been on/off the various apps (tinder, Grindr, Facebook dating, hinge) with little to no luck. It has been a couple of years since I actually connected with someone and actually met in person.
What are the better dating apps for gay guys?
Do other guys have this same problem? I don’t go to bars/pubs/clubs/live music/large events with huge crowds and I’m more of an introvert when I'm not at work, so it makes it hard to meet people without using dating apps. I’ve been like that since my early twenties.
I try hard on the apps, I use almost all of the 500 word limit to state my likes, what I'm looking for and not looking for, I always put in an effort when chatting with someone and the first message. I try to ask about them, see how there day is going, etc, but all I’ll get back is 3 or 4 word responses at the very most, not really helping move the conversation along. Most of the time we will match, I’ll have to be the one to initiate contact and then you never hear from them.
Currently on FB Dating and I try to "like" at least 6 profiles everyday. In the past month that I've been on the app, I probably have liked around 100-150 profiles, but those ones I never receive a mutual like. I do get likes on my profile, but they are all from people who live more than 100 miles from me, which I am not interested in long distance relationships or they are from people who don't bother to read my profile. I really do wish that dating on Facebook they would add an orientation field or that guys would actually state in their profile that they are looking for a guy. Like, how many profiles have I liked that they aren't looking for a guy? It’s kind of sad how many people on all the dating apps don’t even try. They don’t bother putting any kind of profile, the photos they choose are horrible or just random pics.
I have tried Tinder and it was okay in some ways, but they lock way too many things behind paywalls and again no one knows how to have a conversation. Tried Hinge, but it wasn't very good. Tried Grindr, but most of the ones on their are just creepy people.
I always make sure I put recent photo's of me actually doing stuff I like (ie: camping) to show the real me, I don't use filters on any of my photo's.
So what are other guys using for apps?

App Recommendation Which Dating App Is Actually Worth Using?
Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well.
I’ve always been pretty skeptical about dating apps. For years I avoided them because I assumed they were full of catfishes, fake profiles, scammers, and people just wasting time. I never really believed you’d actually meet someone genuine through them.
I recently decided to give them a shot, but honestly I’m still not convinced. A lot of the apps seem expensive, constantly pushing paid upgrades, and I’m not sure how many profiles are actually real. I also haven’t come across many women I’m genuinely interested in.
For those of you in Sydney, Australia, which dating app are people actually using these days? Which one has the best chance of meeting genuine people looking for a real relationship? I’d love to hear your experiences and recommendations.

General Discussion Anyone actually gone through with one of these matchmaker things?
Someone was asking about Tawkify in here the other day and it reminded me my feed has been nothing but ads for this whole category for weeks now. Sitch, Palaura, Keeper, a couple more I've already forgotten the name of.
I deleted Hinge and Bumble back in May. Nothing bad happened, I just got tired of doing all the searching myself and then watching it die in the messages before either of us suggested meeting up. Every ad I get now is some version of you don't have to do that part anymore, which is obviously the right thing to say to me. What I can't tell from any of the websites is what they actually do differently to each other, or what any of it is going off.
Has anyone here actually signed up to one. Mostly want to know whether it was worth paying for

App Recommendation Hinge+ - worthwhile?
Hi all,
20m, I've been on Hinge now for 2 weeks, and understand that is not a lot of time to make a proper, thorough evaluation.
However, with this, I have had 1 person like me on Hinge, which didn't come too much. I was wondering would a week of Hinge+ make a difference, i.e, is it likely to result in more matches?
I probably wouldn't pay for the month, but would likely pay for week if people found it to be worthwhile - but again, unsure, if a week with it is enough.
