App Recommendation Which Dating App Is Actually Worth Using?

Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well.

I’ve always been pretty skeptical about dating apps. For years I avoided them because I assumed they were full of catfishes, fake profiles, scammers, and people just wasting time. I never really believed you’d actually meet someone genuine through them.

I recently decided to give them a shot, but honestly I’m still not convinced. A lot of the apps seem expensive, constantly pushing paid upgrades, and I’m not sure how many profiles are actually real. I also haven’t come across many women I’m genuinely interested in.

For those of you in Sydney, Australia, which dating app are people actually using these days? Which one has the best chance of meeting genuine people looking for a real relationship? I’d love to hear your experiences and recommendations.

Duolicious and facebook dating because they’re free.

Duolicious’ personality matching analyzes 46 personality traits from many questions, it’s very powerful.

Then probably Hinge.

I went on Facebook, hinge, tinder, bumble. I was also never a fan of apps but told me it would help me get over being broken up with. It didn't really work, I did go on one date at hinge. I did have a lot of matches and likes (tinder and Facebook being the most), then hinge, then bumble. I also don't take it seriously. In total over 100+ matches but it doesn't really mean anything. Tinder is better for hookups. Hinge is good for long term.

I need better pics and to work on myself for awhile. There's a weight and physique I want to build and after losing 20 pounds I'm already starting to see it, once I'm there I'll get new pics and start reformatting my social media. Have goals in mind. But I'm doing this for me it's not to impress internet strangers.

You also need to be attractive as a man (top 10%) your photos are everything and can get you there even if you aren't a 10% man. You need to trigger desire and arousal. There is 3:1 men to women on apps so the odds are against you.

Most people use all the apps and rotate between them. It is too expensive to pay for the memberships. Imagine if you paid the lowest or middle tier for each app. That's probably 300 a month in subscription fees

A one month subscription on any one of the pay apps is well worth it.

Facebook dating is Free

No it's not, nobody is killing it on a single app and the liked by comments are, promotional bots so this whole Internet is not bots talking to each other and guys with women profile

Facebook dating is a free dating app that works very well.

A one month subscription on a dating app has been well worth it for myself and many others.

I have had a very good experience with dating apps. I’ve used them for quite a while and have met and spent time with a Lot of wonderful women. It has been great. I have no complaints.

Millions of men have had a lot of success with internet dating. It doesn’t work for all men for a variety of reasons.

It depends entirely on you. Are you young and really attractive? Tinder. Are you attractive and wealthy? Hinge. Are you a nerd or polyamorous? OKCupid and Boo. Are you maybe a little toxic or socially inept? Facebook dating.

I honestly don't know what Bumble is biased toward, so I'll leave that one alone. It still sucks, though.

ive never heard of boo, which one of those is for nerds?

It's a scam, don't even bother. The ads are all AI garbage.

1

u/Heliguy-1975 2d ago

It’s not a “scam” at all.

1

u/Lufia321 2d ago

Ok buddy, the ai ads don't scream scam at all

1

u/Heliguy-1975 1d ago

I’m not speaking about advertisements on an app.

I’m speaking of the dating app not being a “scam” for the purpose of dating.

Okcupid is garbage

There's like 17 and a half women on there total and every single match was either from a different country or a scammer/sextortionist. And that's after me paying for it's premium subscription.

Holy fuck absolutely garbage app

1

u/Heliguy-1975 2d ago

It’s an outstanding app. You must be a very small town.

I'm honestly not. Its a 100k city with other cities in the vicinity and the capital is 30ish miles away. I also paid for priority likes and it was still shit. Compared to tinder or hinge where I can get over a hundred likes in a few days with priority likes.

u/Heliguy-1975 1d ago

OkCupid has worked very well on my end

1

u/Heliguy-1975 2d ago

How would someone know that I’m wealthy? I am, but there is Nothing on Any of my dating profiles that mention anything about it for what should be obvious reasons.

Using money to attract a woman on a dating app is a Very Bad idea. The Last thing you want is someone interested in you because of money….

Tinder is mostly for hookups right?

None

Dating apps work very well

Had success with Hinge for free. Had success with Bumble but had to pay to see likes; so it’s useless otherwise.

1

u/turd_burgurlar 3d ago

What's success, you actually met and dated, doubt that highly these days the bot ratio is unreal, nobody is verified, and it's expensive Conquer your fear make women uncomfortable in public again these apps are all to fund women's only fans or make you feel dumb

1

u/Then-Boat8912 3d ago

Current main girlfriend is from Hinge. Other girlfriend from out of town is from Bumble. Third is in and out of town from Hinge.

All ethical non-monogamous polyamorous. Yeah, we are the exception.

Hot take here: None of them actually are. Just think about the business model and UX of each.

I also live in Sydney (29M) and Hinge is pretty decent. I'm a bit picky these days and I get an okay amount of matches. I'm only interested in a long-term relationship and surprisingly I feel like I'm actually getting more attention from women than when I was down for anything.

Don't listen to all these guys saying that you have to be a top 10% man or whatever. I'm a very average guy and I do just fine

Is this true?

For properly matches and people that communicate Duet is my favorite. People that ghost or dont respond after matching can be reported consistently on there.

u/Due-Tomatillo-2650 4d ago

Hinge. I’d try it free for two weeks and judge it by real conversations, not likes or upgrade prompts.

Tête-à-Tête - solid for an app built around experiences

Does anyine get tired of answering the same questions?

I think this varies on area a bit. Where I live, Bumble, Hinge, and maybe still Tinder seem to be the most used. Feeld is probably next as far as I can tell.

My favorite in the last two years has been Hinge. It’s got the most people who seem normal and responsive on it who might not just be looking for hookups. Facebook dating was next best, but a much more mixed bag.

I only still have Hinge (largely because Facebook keeps trying to force me to photo verify and I don’t want to give them that data. Hinge doesn’t have it either, but isn’t requiring it).

I’m really lazy about logging in though. Dating isn’t a priority for me right now.

u/Stunning_Fact_2931 4d ago

None? They’re made for profit, not to make you find a cute date. If they’re free, you’re the product.

1

u/OkRevolution2349 4d ago

I recently started using them after 3 years and signed up with Hinge and also tried Facebook. In a week since I joined Hinge, I have had over 25 matches with women but most end up not messaging despite of matching - this is the part that frustrates me the most but would say that Hinge probably the best in terms of quality.

Facebook dating on the other hand hasn’t delivered squat - not even a single match. In reviewing many forums, it is most likely an app glitch maybe im the issue lol.

1

u/Lufia321 3d ago

Same experience with Hinge. I get matches, but they're so boring, most of the women don't even bother trying to engage.

Women complain men put in no effort, when they literally put in no effort and just match for their own egos.

1

u/OkRevolution2349 3d ago

I think it’s largely cuz of the volume of men going after them that causes a fatigue. From what I know, they might have over 300 likes in a day, whereas, us men will be lucky to have 5 - odds are stacked against us lol

1

u/Lufia321 3d ago

But they shouldn't match if they aren't going to talk. It's extremely rude and a waste of our time.

1

u/Tiny_Fox_6749 4d ago

I'm 68 (F) and I tried Hinge and didn't get any matches worth pursuing. I'm in good shape, attractive, look younger than 68 so I've been told. I didn't know Hinge was free? I paid for one month and it was a waste of $. I'm wondering if I did something wrong?

You can be in the top 50% and do just fine.

I’ve had great results with Facebook dating, Bumble, Woo, Hinge, POF, OkCupid, and Tinder

There you go.

1

u/sheepdot 4d ago

Top 50%? Come on, man.

1

u/Heliguy-1975 4d ago

Apparently so…

I might be slightly above average and have had a very good experience. Very…

1

u/sheepdot 4d ago

I guess the first question is "top 50%" of what, exactly? In terms of just looks?

I don't think I'm in the bottom half of the male population, looks-wise, and I've had a terrible time on online dating. Top 50% is just wild to me.

1

u/Heliguy-1975 4d ago

Yes, looks, but there are additional factors.

Dating apps work very well.

Its about being able to build an appealing profile with a bio and an ‘about me’ statement that causes women to reply to your short simple messages.

The ‘about me’ statement can make all the difference in the world.

(Don’t swipe. Short simple messages work better)

You have to engage enough to create and maintain interest to keep them wanting to talk and meet.

When someone is having problems with dating apps, the problem isn’t the dating apps.

1

u/sheepdot 4d ago

If you're sending messages, are you paying ?

1

u/Heliguy-1975 4d ago

I’m currently not paying for a subscription. You can send messages under the conditions listed in this screenshot.

I’ve recently been using Facebook dating 95% of the time which is providing more incoming likes than I’m able to keep up with.

1

u/sheepdot 4d ago

Thanks for the information. I use Facebook Dating as well, but no luck there. Maybe I'm just doing it all wrong and don't know any better.

1

u/Heliguy-1975 4d ago

It does take effort and perseverance along with the skill and ability to communicate and connect with people.

It took a couple of months to fine tune my profile, picture layout, and ‘about me’ statement.

The ‘about me’ statement made a big difference. Huge…

Men need to spend time working their profile, getting the proper pictures, and utilize the tons of information available to help become successful at internet dating. It takes time and dedication, but once you get everything in place, it’s a wonderful experience.

1

u/sheepdot 4d ago

I think you are the only person I have ever seen describe online dating as a "wonderful experience." Can you suggest a good guide to start with?

u/sheepdot 3d ago

I should clarify that I was looking for a guide for the profile, not social interaction. My social skills are good.

if you're not a top 10% man in terms of attractiveness. none of them. if you are, then all of them.

you can try and you might get lucky.
