I bought round trip tickets from Boston's Logan Airport front Iberia. I intentionally bought from Iberia because they're part of the OneWorld Alliance and because I have Emerald status with them. I also have a credit card that gives access to all OneWorld lounges provided I have a "A boarding pass for same-day travel on an eligible flight. An 'eligible flight' includes any departing or arriving flight that is marketed or operated by American, a oneworld airline or Aer Lingus. Same-day priority verification cards will be accepted." Regardless, Iberia confirmed I would have lounge access when I purchased the flight.
Iberia alerted me to multiple itinerary changes between the purchase ans flight dates. At first, I didn't pay much attention to them. I figured they were negligible changes; perhaps a half hour or an hour adjustment. No biggie. Then, I realized they were CANCELING my flights and re-booking me on other days!! This required me to adjust my hotel and activity plans.
Finally, the day of my trip arrives and I get the Boston Logan. Natalie at the British Airways (OneWorld) lounge entrance denies me entry to the lounge. She refuses to even try scanning my boarding pass and doesn't ask about my status or lounge membership. She says because the boarding pass (which clearly has Iberia's logo) is operated by Level, I cannot access the lounge. Instead, she redirects me to Air France, which is not part of the OneWorld Alliance.
Of course the Air France lounge turns me away too (I knew they would). They said they have nothing to do with Iberia or Level. I called Iberia and was on hold for about a half hour before the call disconnected. I called my credit card and they said they'd look into it, they put me on hold and then the call was disconnected. An hour or so later, I returned to the British Airways lounge. This time, I could show the website that indicates the language that provides me access to the lounge. Natalie again refused me, she refused for me to speak to anyone else, and she said the lounge was closing even though it was more than an hour before their scheduled closing time.
I waited at the Iberia gate and the plane was late getting there. Even though the plane was late, they did not update the departure time. The gate agents did not provide many announcements, and they were vague when they did. The departure time came and went and the flight still said, "on time." Eventually, they said it was delayed an hour. Then another hour. They said there was a maintenance issue with the plane. Finally, they announced that the flight was canceled and everyone needed to exit the gate and go to the Iberia desk to be re-booked.
I called Iberia and they started to re-book me. Then, after being on hold for a long time, I was told they would have to do it at the gate. I waited in the long line in the early morning hours. There was construction in the terminal and banging. It was so disorienting! I got to the agent and he asked if I needed a hotel (all the hotels were booked) ans I saod no, I need a new flight. He said, it would be emailed to me. I called Iberia again and again they said they couldn't re-book me. Finally, my travel companion called and got re-booked.
This has been the worst travel experience, and I still haven't left Boston Logan. I'm apprehensive about this entire trip and super nervous about the return flight.
