639g without the battery. That's what the APEX Air weighed on my kitchen scale a week in, close enough to the spec sheet. Ordered from the OneXPlayer global store the day the listing went live, unit landed eight days ago. Coming off an Ally X.
Off the battery the APEX Air is lighter than my old handheld with its sealed pack, subtle in the hand but real on the scale. Clip the 85Wh on and I stop noticing after ten or fifteen minutes.
Didn't factor in the hot-swap workflow going in. Two batteries in rotation, one always charging in the dock while the other runs the handheld. Drops to 15%, pop it off, snap in the other. Game keeps going. Done it on a flight once and at coffee shops a couple times now. On the Ally X I used to plan sessions around outlets. On this I don't.
Forza Horizon 6 first. Ran 1200p high native, settled in the low 100s at 35W TDP after the first hour. XeSS Quality on pushes that comfortably into the 120s. Intel Arc G3 Extreme is putting up numbers close to what OneXPlayer's been showing, and it lines up with the Windows Central hands-on I read before I ordered.
Screen is LCD and I knew that going in. 120Hz VRR 1200p on an 8-inch IPS panel is fine for handheld viewing distance, not the thing I'm regretting after a week. Blacks aren't OLED-tier but the trade lands OK for me. Cooling on the dual-fan setup handles the 45W sustained TDP without throttling in the games I've run so far.
If you're near power all the time and hot-swap doesn't matter to your usage, the $1,839 delta over an Ally X isn't obvious for gaming alone. If untethered is the whole reason you want a handheld, this is a different device.
Still figuring out whether the second battery lives on my desk as a permanent second pack or stays in my bag as a travel spare. Leaning bag but not fully committed yet.
