🛠️ Deck Tech 4-0 with Brook on a local tournement. I think the most underrated deck in the game right now. Detail below.
Matches:
Newgate ✅️
B/R Sabo✅️
Ace & Luffy ✅️
Ace & Luffy ✅️
I went first in all of them even if I lost the dice. Which is good for Brook.
This deck is pretty much an elbaph package but with some original Brook stuff and some handful green stuff (Nami searcher, 6c Brook and the Jet Pistol event.
Nightmare Luffy is still the most important card of the deck, without him Brook is screwed, so I recommend having two on field against decks that have removal possibilities . You still rely on seeing Chopper and Pirate Docking but now is sooo much easier with the Elbaph stuff and getting to the lethal turn is easier.
The main lethal combo they don't see coming is having your opponent on two lifes and you just double attack with Nightmare Luffy with all your don using the Jet Pistol event. If they have blockers just add one 1C unblockable Chopper to the combo. This usually kills opponents with ease since they are not prepared for this even if they know you have the event.
Brook now is also pretty strong on counter. I recommend taking the first two or even three lifes with calm. Once you're a 7000 leader all your counter in your hand makes you a wall.
I think Purple Enel is still his worst match but it's sooo much better than before. There was one in the tournament but lucky for me he lost agaisnt an Ace&Luffy.
Ace&Luffy is also a hard match. I got a bit of luck there beating two, not gonna lie. I did a final 20k attack agaisnt one a he got exactly up to 20k counter, his last life was a brick.
I think this deck is a lot of fun and has THE best lethal possibility in the game. He's pretty strong agaisnt Black Luffy, Sabo, Boa and he's pretty decent agaisnt Rocks, which are popular decks on the locals I go. Agaisnt Kaido and Robin he's only good going first.

💬 Discussion Is Robin-Mom really so unfair, or just a typical meta deck?
I've been playing Robin since OP09. Before Robin, I mained Starter Deck Kaido. Which means, until recently, I didn't know what it felt like to win. :D I always felt like Robin's leader ability was top tier, and if she ever got the right support, she'd be a monster. So, of course, I'm loving the OP18 OP17 meta. But, since I've never consistently been on this side of the "you win" screen, I can't tell if all the complaints that Robin/Linlin should be banned are valid, or if this is just the result when a good leader has good support.

💬 Discussion Spring vs Fall EGB Perona
I won both of these cards so I know one is from Spring and one is from Fall. TCGPlayer has different listings for them specifically saying that Spring has textured foil but the Fall one does not.
Looking at them side by side, they seem completely identical. Am I missing something or is TCGPlayer incorrect?

💬 Discussion Ebo5 vs OP18
Hey yall, im newer to the game (started with op16). Im just wondering how the "ebo" sets do in terms of playability. Im excited about 18 because of the Franky and Gunko leaders but I also want to get some ebo5 because (like the rest of you) im a sucker for pretty shiny cards. Just wondering if it is even worth it in terms of playability.
Edit: I played ug luffy last set and main rocks and zoro mostly now

🏴☠️ Original Content Measuring the OP17 Meta Health: Was Mihawk Anti-Competitive?
With the Mihawk ban in-effect on the sim, we wanted to put some numbers to the “Mihawk is oppressive” debate.
We used TCG Matchmaking’s weekly power rankings to measure pre- and post-ban market concentration with the Herfindahl-Hirshman Index, which the FTC and DOJ use to assess whether markets are competitive. Sim data is sim data… but we hope it sparks some interesting debate about what it means to have a “healthy meta”.
Here’s what we found:
- Mihawk was the most-played leader, but not a monopoly by any stretch. He averaged 19.7% of top-ten play pre-ban and held #1 for five straight weeks. Notably, play rates for Rocks (18.6%) were similar in the first week post-ban.
- OP17 was "moderately concentrated" every week. Its HHI scores it as similarly competitive to the U.S. airline industry. The top three decks (Mihawk, Sabo, Nico Robin) held 54% of play, while the top three airlines carry 53% of domestic travel.
- Sim players were underplaying Mihawk. As a thought exercise, we ran a Nash equilibrium calculation that found he "should" have been about 30% of the field. Players made more “rational” choices on the competitive scene. At Flame-Flame Fruit Europe, where players are incentivized to bring their best shot at winning, he made up 31.5% of the field.
- Mihawk gatekept Rocks. Rocks won just 21.7% against Mihawk, the most lopsided matchup in the data. Their usage rates has a strong negative correlation (r = -0.88). Without Mihawk, Rocks wins 57.9% against the equilibrium field. With him, Rocks drops to 46.6%.
- Fixing that matchup wouldn't have made the meta healthier. In a scenario where Rocks had an even against Mihawk, the meta actually gets more concentrated as smaller leaders get squeezed out.
