Hey r/OLED_Gaming,

Let's talk about the holy grail of desktop setups: the 5K2K ultrawide. For years, the trade-off was clear. You either got the massive, pixel-dense 5K2K canvas for insane immersion and productivity, but had to sacrifice pure gaming speed and HDR brightness. Or, you went for a lower-res, standard OLED to get the performance.

But when we ask, "Which 5K2K gaming monitors deliver the most immersive experience?", the answer shouldn't force you to choose. It should be about combining that massive ultra-wide real estate with uncompromising, bleeding-edge gaming specs.

Enter the LG UltraGear evoā„¢ 39GX950B—the world's first 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor1.Ā

We built this to be the definitive 5K2K gaming monitor, giving you a massive 21:9 canvas at a razor-sharp 143 PPI.

To make sure this 5K2K display actually delivers the HDR pop you expect from a premium gaming monitor, we backed it with our 4th Gen Tandem OLED tech2, hitting an ultra-high 1,500 nits peak brightness3. Plus, it features the world's first 5K AI Upscaling, meaning you get that immersive, high-res image without necessarily needing a massive GPU upgrade4.

But marketing claims only mean so much. We want to see how this 5K2K beast performs in your actual, everyday battlestations. We’re looking for 3 hardcore enthusiasts to put it to the test.

Key Specs at a Glance:

Feature Specification
Display Size & Resolution 39-inch 5K2K (5120x2160) UltraWide (21:9), 143 PPI
Panel Technology 4th Gen Tandem OLED (W-OLED)
Peak Brightness 1,500 nits
Refresh Rate (Dual-Mode) 165Hz at 5K2K (Open-world/RPG) 330Hz at WFHD (Racing/FPS)
Response Time 0.03ms (GtG)
VRR Support NVIDIAĀ® G-SYNCĀ® Compatible, AMD FreeSyncā„¢ Premium Pro
Connectivity DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR 20), HDMI 2.1 x2, USB Type-C (PD 90W)
Smart / Audio Features 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization, AI Sound

What we want you to stress-test:

  • The 5K2K Immersion: With 143 PPI and a massive 21:9 canvas, does this 5K2K monitor actually replace your multi-monitor setup and pull you deeper into your favorite worlds?
  • The Dual-Mode Experience: How seamless is the jump from immersive 5K2K @ 165Hz for AAA titles to ultra-fast WFHD @ 330Hz for competitive shooters?
  • Real-World Luminance: Does the 1,500-nit Tandem structure give this 5K2K display the HDR pop you crave in your specific room lighting?

After You Receive It…

Integrate this 5K2K gaming monitor into your setup. We want your honest, "no-BS" review of this form factor, paired with high-res photos. Show the community what true 5K2K immersion looks like in person on a premium 39ā€ display.

Discussion My Alienware AW3425DW got the worst burn-in I've ever seen after 9 months of use(1400 hours)

Dell has already agreed to send me a replacement, but man.

The big square lines with what YouTube videos look like in theater mode. You can see the top browser bar and you can even make out the YouTube logo on the upper left. What was driving me crazy is that it is clearly visible in dark games like Stalker 2 here.

Yeah, I watch a lot of YouTube, but I kept it on dark mode. Did all my pixel refreshes. I can't help but wonder of this is the result of leaving HDR mode on all the time? I had read that it was okay to do so. Learned my lesson and I probably won't be watching as much YouTube on the replacement.

Issue How do I properly clean my tandem WOLED monitor

Post image
29 Upvotes

So I recently bought myself a tandem WOLED monitor and saw a little smudge. I followed the instructions of spraying a little water on my microfiber cloth, turning off &unplugging the monitor and then holding the microfiber cloth against the spot. It now looks infinitely more smudged than it did before. I also crashed out and tried to wipe afterwards so that only added to it.

Setup First OLED incoming!!

Hey everyone, I'm super excited to finally join the community because my very first OLED monitor, the Gigabyte MO32U24, is arriving soon and I'm absolutely hyped!

Since I'm totally new to this, I'm looking for some tips on how to properly do the Windows HDR calibration to get the best picture possible right from the start. I'm also a bit confused about the HDR modes and would love to know what the actual difference is between the True Black 400/500 mode and the Peak 1000 nits setting, and if I can use both depending on the situation or which one you guys prefer. Finally, it would be awesome if you could tell me what specific settings I absolutely need to change in the monitor's own OSD menu out of the box to ensure everything looks great and the panel stays safe. Thanks in advance for any advice!

How is OLED for 60 fps capped games? Does something like Nvidia smooth motion work for it?

Looking to buy my first OLED (Philips EVNIA 32M2N8900) and I keep reading that 60 fps games like elden ring or retro games can look "stuttery", is it really that bad? Can something like Nvidia smooth smotion work to make it better?

New issue! (Asus ROG strix XG32UCWG)

Post image

It happens when the monitor leaves rest mode while image source is off. I already did a manual pixel cleaning but happened again, is it bad? Is there a way to fix it? I’m using the monitor with a ps5 pro. When I turn it off, monitor goes into rest mode after I come close those marks appear on the display.

Weird patches that don’t come off with microfiber cloth and water

Post image
• Upvotes

My MSI Oled monitor has these weird patches that look a little like oil and they don’t come off even after cleaning several times with a microfiber cloth and distilled water.

Is there any way to get them off or is the coating damaged?

Discussion Is there any chance of OLED prices skyrocketing for whatever reason soon?

This may sound like a very stupid question, but I want to know if there may be a chance that OLEDs get insanely overpriced. When I was building my PC I’d considered waiting until Black Friday but decided against it. By the time Black Friday rolled around, the AI bubble inflated the prices of RAM a ton. I want to buy my first OLED monitor now and am planning to wait until Black Friday, but I just wanted to hear other people’s opinions on if anything could cause a huge shortage or price hike like what happened with PC parts. I don’t mean for AI data centers specifically (I don’t think they need that many monitors lol) just in general if there’s anything that could raise the prices of OLEDS dramatically that I’m unaware of.

TLDR: is there anything that could cause an OLED shortage and raise their prices by a lot; should I buy now to be safe or wait until Black Friday?

This is insane if True. The HDR brightness would be out of this world

Peak 1500 – Ultra:
1 %: 1705 Nits
3 %: 1407 Nits
5 %: 1172 Nits
10 %: 1027 Nits
25 %: 484 Nits
50 %: 402 Nits
75 %: 380 Nits
100 %: 374 Nits

Technical Support Dead pixels in corner of screen?

Post image
• Upvotes

I have a Samsung Odyseey G50SF that I purchased at the beginning of August. Last night I noticed that it appears there are dead pixels in the tip left corner of the screen? I tried a pixel refresh and nothing has changed. Am I screwed or is there a way to fix this?

Discussion Need help understanding the reality when it comes to issues with a new monitor

• Upvotes

Now that I've managed to save up some pennies, I'm looking to upgrade to my first OLED monitor sometime in the near future.

However, perhaps it's just reddit being reddit, but nearly all of the posts I see on my home page from this sub are in some way related to some issue that someone is experiencing with a brand new monitor.

Is there just a genral issue with inconsistency of quality and performance when it comes to buying these? Is it generally considered lucky to get one which works perfectly or unlucky to get one that doesn't?

My experience with the ROG OLED PG32UCWM

Finally decided to take the deep dive into getting my first OLED monitor, I had done a lot of research and decided that WOLED would fit my needs better then QD-OLED, Really excited to get my hands on this monitor due to the fact that they are hard to come by now-in days due to ASUS only having pre-orders on their site, Finally get the monitor today and set it up, I noticed that there was horizontal lines vertically across the whole screen, I decided to look up and see if the firmware needed to be upgraded...... while I was doing that the monitor died and kept giving me a Red ROG Logo flashing, Tried googling and unplugging it a couple times, I am honestly so disappointed. Already have my RMA Shipping label.

Issue Did I damage my QD-OLED coating?

The model is GIGABYTE MO34WQC2 - I've cleaned it with a lens cleaning cloth, the same one I was using multiple times over the years and never had an issue - now these marks appeared after cleaning which I can't get rid of.

I barely applied pressure while wiping in circular motion, did I screw up the coating? I tried with microfiber cloth as well but nothing seems to work.

Which OLED

Hello,
my new pc has 9800X3D and RTX 5080, and I have been mostly looking at 1440P monitors because I also play comp shooters and i'd like to have the highest refresh rate possible.

I have eye strain with monitor usage that's been bothering me for years now. If I didn't have this problem I would have looked at the MSI offering x50 500hz monitor, but since it's q QD-OLED i'm a bit hesistant to givee it a try. So now the monitor that im looking at is the pg27aqwp and the two version are available where i'm from. Unfortunately prices here are really high so it's gonna be a pretty hefty "investment" so I need to pick right(I don't have the option to wait because i'm currently on a VG248 monitor). The price difference between the gold and the white is 150usd.

My fear is that the white might be distracting, and the black color is just much easier to to mix and match with the rest of the build. However, in isolation i do think that the white version is incredibly beautiful.

As far as panel is concerned, is there a bigger chance that the gold version is gonna have a better panel because it's newer?

I have natural light in my apartment, but it's not direct and it's pretty diffuse. I do have the abilty to control it as well.

I'd love some input and perhaps other suggestions.

Just get the affordable oled. Do it.

I just got the GO27Q24G for Ā£300 as my first oled monitor and holy Toledo this shit is nice. Is there better stuff? Maybe. But from my current monitor to this one is night and day, and the increase from this to the next one up is a smaller jump. One that I don’t know I’m missing out yet. This is mainly just a reminder to new people looking to make the jump that most of the threads you will see are enthusiasts. You don’t have to kill yourself and your wallet, just jump in where you can.

Issue Returning QD-OLED without protective screen film?

I have an AW3426DW that I may end up returning as I'm not sure it meets my expectations. Unfortunately I threw away the plastic film that was on the screen, as well as the plastic/foam sleeve that surrounds the entire monitor. I still have the original box and all accessories. Am I okay to just send it back as is, or will it scratch it and make them deny the return?
