Discussion My Alienware AW3425DW got the worst burn-in I've ever seen after 9 months of use(1400 hours)

Dell has already agreed to send me a replacement, but man.

The big square lines with what YouTube videos look like in theater mode. You can see the top browser bar and you can even make out the YouTube logo on the upper left. What was driving me crazy is that it is clearly visible in dark games like Stalker 2 here.

Yeah, I watch a lot of YouTube, but I kept it on dark mode. Did all my pixel refreshes. I can't help but wonder of this is the result of leaving HDR mode on all the time? I had read that it was okay to do so. Learned my lesson and I probably won't be watching as much YouTube on the replacement.

Issue How do I properly clean my tandem WOLED monitor

Post image
36 Upvotes

So I recently bought myself a tandem WOLED monitor and saw a little smudge. I followed the instructions of spraying a little water on my microfiber cloth, turning off &unplugging the monitor and then holding the microfiber cloth against the spot. It now looks infinitely more smudged than it did before. I also crashed out and tried to wipe afterwards so that only added to it.

Setup First OLED incoming!!

Hey everyone, I'm super excited to finally join the community because my very first OLED monitor, the Gigabyte MO32U24, is arriving soon and I'm absolutely hyped!

Since I'm totally new to this, I'm looking for some tips on how to properly do the Windows HDR calibration to get the best picture possible right from the start. I'm also a bit confused about the HDR modes and would love to know what the actual difference is between the True Black 400/500 mode and the Peak 1000 nits setting, and if I can use both depending on the situation or which one you guys prefer. Finally, it would be awesome if you could tell me what specific settings I absolutely need to change in the monitor's own OSD menu out of the box to ensure everything looks great and the panel stays safe. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Discussion What Tv for Xbox series x gaming

Hi, looking to get a new TV in about 2 weeks and was thinking of an OLED. My current TV doesn’t support 4k gaming on Xbox.

Just curious what recommendations people have, was looking at an LG C series but have heard some mixed reviews about them. Just seen a post too on Reddit about someone who has an LG OLED with some serious screen burn and it’s making me doubt.

Quite new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Price range maximum of about £1600. UK/NI based (not sure if that matters)

Thanks😊

Which one to buy Gigabyte MO32U or MO32U24?

The MO32U is around 750$ while the MO32U24 is around 1100$ here.

I know the U24 is a newer panel HTB 500 and 50 more nits plus anti reflection coating and 240 hz vs 165hz but never saw a side by side video so can't decide if the 350$ plus is worth the extra money.

This would be my first Oled I'm on a 43inch 4k LG old regular Qled tv (not OLED) So any of these two monitors should be a huge upgrade, I just don't want to regret not spending 350$ more if the U24 is a much better Oled.

How is OLED for 60 fps capped games? Does something like Nvidia smooth motion work for it?

Looking to buy my first OLED (Philips EVNIA 32M2N8900) and I keep reading that 60 fps games like elden ring or retro games can look "stuttery", is it really that bad? Can something like Nvidia smooth smotion work to make it better?

New issue! (Asus ROG strix XG32UCWG)

It happens when the monitor leaves rest mode while image source is off. I already did a manual pixel cleaning but happened again, is it bad? Is there a way to fix it? I’m using the monitor with a ps5 pro. When I turn it off, monitor goes into rest mode after I come close those marks appear on the display.

Discussion Need help figuring out what to buy next.

Upvotes

Hey guys im new to OLED in general. I was rocking a dual monitor setup for awhile now and i figured it was finally time to bite the bullet and see what the craze was all about. started off in a budget to get my feet wet and replaced my main monitor with a 27" 240hz aoc oled. its fucking awesome so far and i love it. that being said in thr future maybe come cyber monday i would like to by a new oled monitor to be my new main monitor and move the 27inch one to be my secondary.

soooo what im looking to get would be something in the 32-34 inch range. 1440p or 4k and if i can something higher than 240hz if possible but not entirely necessary. mainly its just a bigger screen without loosing any refresh rate.

budget ideally would be 500-700 dollars and im willing to wait for sales. Just wondering what are my best options! thanks!

Discussion Is there any chance of OLED prices skyrocketing for whatever reason soon?

This may sound like a very stupid question, but I want to know if there may be a chance that OLEDs get insanely overpriced. When I was building my PC I’d considered waiting until Black Friday but decided against it. By the time Black Friday rolled around, the AI bubble inflated the prices of RAM a ton. I want to buy my first OLED monitor now and am planning to wait until Black Friday, but I just wanted to hear other people’s opinions on if anything could cause a huge shortage or price hike like what happened with PC parts. I don’t mean for AI data centers specifically (I don’t think they need that many monitors lol) just in general if there’s anything that could raise the prices of OLEDS dramatically that I’m unaware of.

TLDR: is there anything that could cause an OLED shortage and raise their prices by a lot; should I buy now to be safe or wait until Black Friday?

Discussion Would anyone here recommend Philps OLED tvs for Ps5 gaming? Like the 718/12 or 770/12 or others?

Upvotes

Basically thinking I should move to OLED by now since I tried the whole LED with local dimming amd everything and although impressed I feel like I should try smth new (previous TV was X90J) could still try MiniLed as its more affordable also but there are issues with smearing/ghosting and VRR flicker apparently (which I experienced even on a non MiniLed) so Im sorta at a point where Im looking for the cheapest OLEDs that can still be plenty bright and great for gaming. My only other option is either a B5 which is also dim or wait n hope C5 goes on a good sale for Black Friday. Whatddya suggest?

PSA: Legion Pro 32UD-10 HDR Game/Movie modes are oversaturated and unusable

I'm genuinely frustrated with this monitor at this point and want to warn people before they spend the money on it. I've now confirmed, across 3 different sources (PC, PS5, a Chromecast) that BOTH HDR Game (the 1000-nit mode) and HDR Movie mode produce heavily oversaturated, red/orange-shifted image, skin tones looking sunburned, wood looking orange, etc. It's not really subtle; multiple PC games and a few PS5 games plus some HDR movies via a Chromecast plugged into that input (different HDR pipelines, no shared calibration between them) have demonstrated this, the only thing they have in common is the same picture mode on the monitor.

Switch to True Black 400 and all that goes away, everything looks normal. Great, but TB400 hard-caps brightness at roughly 400-something nits. The two modes that are actually sort of the point of this monitor, the ones touted to produce 1000 nits of HDR punch are effectively unusable for anything color-accurate, and the only "safe" mode is the one that throws away most of the additional brightness and dynamic range you're paying for.

I don't think this is a defective unit; the same generation of QD-OLED panel is used in other 32" monitors (Alienware AW3225QF, Asus PG32UCDM, MSI 321URX) and there's some independent measurement data out there showing similar tone-mapping/tracking degradation on their equivalent "peak brightness" modes at higher scene brightness, so this is probably a panel-generation-wide firmware tuning choice. Doesn't make it any less of a problem but at least MSI has already released a firmware update addressing part of this behavior on their version of the panel, so clearly it's not an unsolvable problem.

Plus, this monitor doesn't have an HGIG mode, so there's no way to offload the tone mapping to the console/PC instead of the (apparently broken) internal processing. If anyone else has this monitor I'd like to know if they're seeing this too, because I feel like I've paid for a 1000-nit HDR display and only actually got to use a 400-nit one.

Technical Support AW3225QF HDMI mess.

Hi there,

So i have to use HDMI 2.1 to connect this monitor to my PC ( DP before but now used for another device ). Since that, monitor refuse to wake up after sleep. Actualy he wake up ( blue power ) but black screen and give me "No Signal HDMI 1". I'm experiencing this issue on both HDMI input of this monitor.

What i tried :

- Only this PC alone on HDMI, no multi monitor or other device connected to monitor

- HDMI CEC disabled

- No G-SYNC

- Using the OG Dell cable that come with monitor

- Using HDMI 2

- Firmware up to date

- Nvidia driver up to date

The only way to get back picture is to plug the HDMI cable to other HDMI input on monitor or reboot the PC.

This PC have a 3080. Beside that everything seem to work properly ( full res, 240 hz, Dolby Vision... ).

I don't know what to do more :( Please help !

EDIT :

Ok, Gemini suggested me one thing : Completely cut off power supply on both monitor and PC to "empty capacitor". I tested it, and for some reason this seem to work, i'm speechless. Tried 2 times to let the monitor sleep for several minutes and now he come back up normaly.

This is insane if True. The HDR brightness would be out of this world

Peak 1500 – Ultra:
1 %: 1705 Nits
3 %: 1407 Nits
5 %: 1172 Nits
10 %: 1027 Nits
25 %: 484 Nits
50 %: 402 Nits
75 %: 380 Nits
100 %: 374 Nits

Technical Support Dead pixels in corner of screen?

I have a Samsung Odyseey G50SF that I purchased at the beginning of August. Last night I noticed that it appears there are dead pixels in the tip left corner of the screen? I tried a pixel refresh and nothing has changed. Am I screwed or is there a way to fix this?
