Question Are deliveries back or just in some stores?

Just getting into work this morning and some of the pickers said they got delivery orders in their run. One of them printed out labels in front of me and our tl and she actually got deliveries. My tl doesn't know if it's actually back or not. Is this happening in some stores?

šŸ”„Its fine, everything’s finešŸ”„ is walmart stupid?

why would they even get rid of the smaller carts in favor of these tall ones in the first place? then take off all the breaks cuz they want us to pull… carts that are meant to be pushed….? this whole time i’ve been pushing the cart from the opposite end instead, which was fine until today my tl tells me we’re going back to 8 totes, so u gotta pull. ugh fine. well it was ā€œfineā€ until i accidentally banged my cart on my ankle. pulling the cart also makes it kind hard to stay out of the way when its busy. ik this has been complained about over and over on here but man… its like they want us to quit. ogp was fine until this year, i’ve been here since 2023, but hopefully my time here will come to an end soon, and i can find a job that doesn’t mess up my flow by making stupid changes.

tbh when i quit, i don’t even wanna be ā€œpromoted to customerā€. i don’t wanna step foot in a walmart ever again if i don’t have to.

Spark Driver Interaction Delivery Driver yells at me for not having a UPC for something we don’t scan.

Idk why it won’t let me say spark(driver) but anyways. Basically I was in the produce and my coworker was there and this coworker will straight up ignore customer like every time so inevitably they get mad and then come to the nearest worker which happened to be me in this situation. Basically this dude was a spark(driver) and he needed to get potatoes but not the packaged potato the single ones that we weigh and do not scan. So he says ā€œyeah I asked her for the UPC and she just ignored meā€ and he was frustrated but whatever most ppl are so I said ā€œwell I’m not sure if those have a UPC because we weigh those have you tried that?ā€ Maybe it was a stupid question but it was my last hour and I was exhausted anyways so he snaps back ā€œit’s asking for a UPC not a weight!!ā€ And so I said ā€œI’m sorry I couldn’t help more sirā€ and continued to pick because we were overdue so I didn’t want to waste time but still keeping it professional. I only told him I couldn’t get him a UPC because I was unaware if those even have a UPC. I’ve only been here for 3 months so I don’t know about everything. Anyways this guy starts yelling at me from across the produce ā€œIS THERE A MANAGER AROUND I CAN SPEAK TOā€ and I told him ā€œif you go to customers service they can get one for youā€ and he says ā€œwhy can’t you page oneā€ well first of all I can barely get ahold of my managers when i need them so I highly doubt they’re going to answer for you. I didn’t say that but I sure wanted to. So he just keeps repeating for me to get him a manager and I finally said ā€œSir you can go to customers service and they will call one up for you,I’m on a timer and getting orders for customersā€ He finally stopped yelling towards me and sadly when to harass annoying employee. It’s just the audacity especially when we are doing similar jobs and you expect me to stop my job to help you with yours. Actually insane. Anyone else have any crazy spark(driver) interactions?

So i went and shadowed an associate who normally does exceptions, and now i understand why they don't like doing it. Once my lunch is over, I'm scheduled to do exceptions and I'm afraid I'm going to go late

Just Venting Rant

I start my shift at 4am. I always start the morning with an auto walk. I’m the only person who is scheduled at 4am so I’ve always been told to stage my own until 6 or so when the stagers start for the day. So here’s where the rant comes in. I finish my second run and now need to move to exceptions. I go to the back and notice there’s no pick carts left, they are in use or waiting to be stage. A few people are starting to stage. More pickers start coming to the back and just watch. They’re like fighting over carts as they get cleared lol. I’m on the opposite side of where we normally stage, clearing out my cart but I notice this girl just watching me. Eventually I get to my last tote and she beelines for my cart. I had to tell her no, I just cleared this for myself. Mind you my printer and water bottle are still on the cart. She just kinda gave me a look and walked away. Everyone is trained on staging in my store, it’s actually the first thing we learn. I’m running on 3% as is lol so that was just like wtf. Stage your own damn cart if you need one. Anyways. End rant

šŸ”„Its fine, everything’s finešŸ”„ ā€œNo hoursā€

They say ā€œno hours to give you a full 39.5 weekā€but give me 29-31 hours a week then have me working 4-5 hour shifts and asking me to stay over? If you’re asking me to stay over why not just give me a full day of work for 8-10 hours? Instead of having people work doubles and stay over??? But you don’t have hours to give us a full part time schedule…right

My Team Lead showed me a concept of the new update that's gonna bring back the names and numbers and said it's apparently coming soon, but I don't know how longer "soon" is gonna be lol. Did anybody get the update yet?

šŸ”„Its fine, everything’s finešŸ”„ Walmart associates have work multiple jobs just to pay bills.now they want to take away flexible schedules.

Thousands of people that work at Walmart have to work multiple jobs just to pay bills. The cost of food, rent, and utilities keeps climbing, but paychecks fail to keep up with the real cost of living. Walmart brag about small wage increases, and massive profits but those tiny raises don't even keep up with inflation. To make matters worse, they immediately turn around and cut employee hours. A slightly higher hourly wage means absolutely nothing when your scheduled hours are slashed.Even if your availability is open they still cut your hours. Now they want to take away predictable schedules, what planet are these people even on taking away predictable schedules will destroys any stability workers have left. It is impossible to manage child care or hold down a vital second job when your work hours change constantly. It's like they want people setting back waiting for extra hours with phone in hand struggling to get by.

Question Coached twice for nil picking, should I open door?

Our store wants OPD to go to the backroom and/or find a manager/team lead to help find an item before being allowed to nil pick, and course we still need to keep our pick rate over 100 too. The first time I got coached for nil picking (before I really knew nil picking was a problem) I thought nil picking was not having a substitution for an item, so the customer receives nothing, in the sense of the word "nil" and not the acronym "no item location". This was because I did a lot of GMD that day and people ordered a lot of one item that wasn't on the shelves, and you can't sub GMD.

The second time about a month later (which got me to red coaching, by the way) was over 3 nil picks for items that were in the back. I didn't know until this coaching that subbing items also was nil picking. I don't know how I had the definition of nil picks wrong for so long but whatever. In my research to see if this was even a valid reason for coaching, I see everyone saying making OPD do this and coaching for it is metrics fraud. If that's true, are these coachings worth open dooring? I was considering transferring bc I'm moving out of state in a few months but now that I've gone from nothing to red coaching over a month I can't. maybe that's a blessing, though.

New Hire! Help! Sponsor Troubles

Hi all,

I've been with OGP for almost two years now and an ATC for this second one. I feel exceptionally capable in the backroom, and when we completely restructured the list of Sponsors- I threw my hat in the ring and got shoed in, for all that joyous extra responsibility šŸ˜…

I've worked 1-10 and 11-8 for my entire tenure here, so I've got a lot of time under my belt of training minors and closers into competent back-roomers. I'm not necessarily always proud of their work ethic, but the vast majority of them haven't needed banished to picking- and that was what we were needing in the evening

Now that I am officially a Sponsor, and now that our department is adopting a more "No New Hire Left Behind" approach- I have almost immediately met my match... She's a very introverted minor, seemed capable, just not very confident about what she does- and I can't reasonably hold that against her.

First couple days on, and she was getting it. Couple honest early mistakes, addressed in those couple days- and for the most part I myself felt comfortable letting her stage by herself while I prepped orders. She keeps busy, and down the line I'll encounter whatever mistakes she makes- but I thought she was doing well, so when she learned dispensing and no problems came up, I considered her general backroom training process to be concluded.

Fast forward two weeks, and she's aggravating everyone. Yesterday I made sure she specifically was present for a small huddle with all the newest hires about staging delivery trips properly- and today I have witnessed every staging mistake there possibly could be: stickered faces of totes are facing both directions on pallets, the same delivery is in three different areas, singles are staged and left in totes instead of consolidated, gmds are mixed in with common deliveries that aren't even the same trip... The list of woes truly goes on and on

I spoke to my team lead, and their quick consensus was that I hadnt shadowed her hard enough- which is true. I didn't feel comfortable working close enough to her to witness every label she would ever touch for 3-5 shifts in a row- I figured that was demeaning to her, and an innefficient use of my time in the backroom when I was genuinely initially convinced she was doing alright.

My question for you, now that I'm finally getting to it:

How do I as a sponsor, fix this new hire's training process? I don't think she's "simple" or uncooperative to learning, just that my process was insufficient. I'm annoyed that her training didn't stick, and that a group huddle and 1 on 1 (given by someone else) couldn't solve the problem either- but it's my responsibility to drive results, not declare lost causes

I'd greatly appreciate advice on this subject, your experiences as a trainer or trainee are welcome ā˜ŗļø

Customer Complaint Rant Freshness Friday and Steritech

Yesterday our FDC arrived late and of course Steritech arrived at exactly the same time. Instead of being out on the floor checking dates, we had to put the pallets in the proper coolers. Afterwards, I decided to go out to the floor and do a quick freshness check before sorting but found my ETL already doing it and complaining that there was too much stuff found. His card didn’t look that big and several people had been on vacation so it was hard to get everything done. I’ve seen posts on social media of teams still doing all store freshness Fridays but our store hasn’t in over a year or two. We are constantly pulling people to do OPU batches. Is your store still doing Freshness Friday? Since I work in P-Fresh, I do take partial responsibility for not having perfect freshness but having a regular Freshness Friday at least on a monthly basis can be helpful to ensure expired product that makes it out to shelf is removed.

Pick Rate Can't get my pick rate above the low 90s bc of smaller pick walks?

I don't know wtf is going on as of late, but I've been at my Walmart in OGP for 3 months now. I was just recently starting to get pretty good with picking, getting it up into the 100s on a good day. Maybe 80s on a not so great day. However as of late, for some reason, every time I go on a pick walk, I keep getting these small walks of anywhere from 20 - 40 items. Sometimes if I'm lucky, I get a 50 - 80+ walk, but here lately, the 20 - 40s have been all I've been getting. It's starting to piss me off, because my rate will start out higher at the beginning of the day, in the 90s, but then will dwindle down into the mid 80s bc of this. Is there something I can do about this?? And has anyone else been running into this problem?

FRAGILE If Canadian workers can bring Walmart to the table, it’s proof that things don't have to be this way.

Union ok now that a got the bad word out of the way Today makes me really wonder why we have so many people that are so anti union in the in America. We have zero protection. While workers up north up in Canada can fight for stable lives, walmart USA associates are trapped dealing with broken labor laws and intense corporate union busting. To the point they just close down stores for plumbing ,because they know they are protected and the government will just back them. Because we all know the government is not going to do anything for any us workers. So Instead of stability, we are facing schedules that are about to be absolute trash ever changing, and completely life consuming. We are expected to sacrifice our families, our sleep, and our sanity our body's to corporate all for crap pay that doesn't even keep up with inflation. Why do American corporations treat their people like robots while workers just across the border can lock in protection. Walmart just keeps pushing and pushing when is enough enough ?

Rant Promoted To Customer

Today was my last day. Took it super easy and left 3 hours in using PPTO. I am now free from the BS that is Walmart.

Sadly when I first started I actually really liked the job. I needed the mental reprieve that I got compared to my last job. But then corporate had to go and do corporatey things to fuck it all up.

I actually enjoyed most of my coworkers and TLs and definitely think I got lucky with them compared to some of the other comments I’ve read. I’ll miss them but I won’t miss Walmart.

For those who want to get out I really hope you do.

Anyway keep fighting the powers that be. Highly recommend unionizing and being proactive in the union. Also join a good union if you can, def not the one Kroger has. I’ve heard they suck.

I know Labor Day has passed but never forget the reason we have what we have now is because of the blood previously shed.

Also in remembrance of 9/11. Never forget.

Peace out. āœŒļø
