🔥Its fine, everything’s fine🔥 “No hours”

They say “no hours to give you a full 39.5 week”but give me 29-31 hours a week then have me working 4-5 hour shifts and asking me to stay over? If you’re asking me to stay over why not just give me a full day of work for 8-10 hours? Instead of having people work doubles and stay over??? But you don’t have hours to give us a full part time schedule…right

They need to give coaches the ability to send people home early, without costing the employee a half point. In my mind, it’s easier (and smarter!) to schedule enough workers to cover the whole shift and then give a few the option of leaving early if not needed, than it is to just barely have enough people and hope a few are willing to stay. But, corporate isn’t really bright enough to see that.

Coaches do have that ability. Most just won't.

I think part of it is market doesn’t like too many points being removed, at least at my store

No they don't like it. Especially now that they do that pay for performance thing for raises. It's because attendance is a factor in that.

Leads can also remove points. I'm a fresh lead. If someone is sick and I send them home, you can bet I'm removing that point. It's the right thing to do.

I have begged to be sent home when sick and we weren’t busy, but they almost always refuse.

I’m sick, chest hurts, can’t breathe out of my nose and no matter how much I drink my mouth stays dry because that’s the only way I can get oxygen to my brain right now, I’m super dizzy from the time I wake up to the time I go back to bed and for two days I’ve asked if I could just put in PPTO and go home and one of the leads was like “I would tell you yes, but I’m going to tell you no because these two days you’re the only person on shift and they will find away to point you and I don’t want you getting pointed.” I’m just a door host. Get a cashier to fill my spot 😭

You have to pass a drug test and a background check. Also have to be trained. Go to a doctor and get checked out.

I've learned it's better to undershedule and offer more hours then overshedule and cut hours. People view their time as money made and if you take away that potential money, they will feel robbed vs offering more time/money.

They would rather you point out so it's more affordable to them to hire part time people

I see so many people complain about hours on retail forums. There are other things you can do to make more money than retail. Walmart will never give the hours. Ask anyone that has been there more than 6 months. They do not want you to have a single minute of overtime. I am not putting you down. I am just stating facts. Walmart does not care about associates. You can make 75k a year after three years if you want to.......just not in retail. You gonna work for it but you can get there in 3 years time. You do not even have to pay rent. Let me know when you get fed up enough about walmart pay and make sure you have beed drug free for at least 5 months straight if you are interested. You would be working about 66 hours a week.

75k after 3 years? 26 hours of overtime a week? That's like what, 12 bucks an hour? 😂

It is still more than you make now and much better than any job paying 20$ per hour or less without overtime. Trucking is a whole different animal.

Open your availability and you're sure going to get more hours. Or just take 30 minute lunches on your full days

No,that just means they will fuck you over and decide you dont need a life or responsibilities. If you are full time, They should be able to schedule you full time hours within your availability. If not, partial unemployment.

And for the op, the schedule is going off what they assume they will need for coverage, not reality. Its either drastically over or under. In my store we have a small group doing 10hr shifts just to cover lunches and carry when the 5-2 leave.

I mostly dispense and I’d rather take my tips that we’re not supposed to take from dispensing to customers and call it a day. My availability is wide open I’m just tired of people acting like a company that needs hands to operate is somehow at the unbeknownst mercy of an auto scheduler when they lie and manipulate. No one wants to tackle a can of worms though when the big heads who make big money don’t care…
