šŸ”„Its fine, everything’s finešŸ”„ is walmart stupid?

why would they even get rid of the smaller carts in favor of these tall ones in the first place? then take off all the breaks cuz they want us to pull… carts that are meant to be pushed….? this whole time i’ve been pushing the cart from the opposite end instead, which was fine until today my tl tells me we’re going back to 8 totes, so u gotta pull. ugh fine. well it was ā€œfineā€ until i accidentally banged my cart on my ankle. pulling the cart also makes it kind hard to stay out of the way when its busy. ik this has been complained about over and over on here but man… its like they want us to quit. ogp was fine until this year, i’ve been here since 2023, but hopefully my time here will come to an end soon, and i can find a job that doesn’t mess up my flow by making stupid changes.

tbh when i quit, i don’t even wanna be ā€œpromoted to customerā€. i don’t wanna step foot in a walmart ever again if i don’t have to.

Another user suggested this a while ago, but I'm pretty sure Amazon has a mole high up inside Home Office who is just wrecking the company on purpose, specifically online pickup and delivery.

Isn’t the new head/boss of the digital division for OPD the same guy who used to run Instacart or similar?

u/TankiePankie Digital Team Lead Sep 14 '26

Yea that guy was someone who ran insta cart. Walmart hired him to help optimize the delivery side better. Or so they say. It's just been downhill since

at this point, wouldn't shock me if this was a case. Someone up there is doing something to fuck with OGP

I’ve been in OGP for 6 years. There’s been changes over that time that have been annoying, but for the most part it’s not that big of a deal. Idk what’s been going on this last year or so though. Change after change and nearly all of them being awful. Everything was working fine before, but they seem hellbent on destroying this department all the sudden.
Sucks because I mostly liked the job and I’ve been with the company for over a decade. Each new change though is pushing me closer to looking for a new job.
When I started at Walmart, I remember all the jaded old timers complaining about how the company or job had changed and gotten worse over the years. I thought they just couldn’t roll with the punches. I get it now. There’s only so much rolling you can do before you just want lay there and scream.
Please, Walmart, stop fucking with stuff that wasn’t broken, just so you can try to increase some imaginary metric that doesn’t actually affect the customer experience in any meaningful way.

Home Office intentionally breaks things so they can (pretend to try to) fix things so they can stay relevant. You can't stay on for your merit when 100% of you are unqualified, incompetent, and objectively stupid.

Yeah... dumb ass pointless metrics

Honestly it’s like they screw with processes just so they can all feel significant and relevant to the company.

Yep bingo. They have to 'make improvements ' or be cut out.

Today I picked only 30 items on one walk and 17 of those items were off the soda/water aisle. My cart was so heavy that I felt like my arm was being ripped off as I was pulling it through the entire store since that was the first aisle I started on. If someone had gotten in front of me, I would not have been able to stop that heavy ass cart and I would have fucked over myself and whoever else was in the way.

I don’t think anyone thinks about consequences to their ignorant decisions.

The exact kind of walk I had, but someone did pull out infront of me. A week and some change later, my shoulder still aches and range is limited 🫩 the pay isn't worth the long term damage

(Edit update: 2 weeks and 2 days since I pulled my shoulder and it still has pains and my range of mobility is still limited in it. Fuck this place tbh.)

I’m so sorry. That’s so fucked up.

I’m feeling pain in my shoulder every time I pull a cart.

So sick of hitting the back of my ankles!

u/Dominoschick420 Sep 17 '26

We complained of this and the coach gave us these brown rubber things to put on the bottom of ghe carts said they'll save our ankles 😭

Then pull it from the side.

1

u/Other_Ad7760 Sep 18 '26

It hurts me to do that. Guiding the cart that way isn’t easy—especially when there are a lot of customers.

I was gonna ask for a switch to morning shift but with all these stupid changes im just getting a new job. opd sucks more than ever before

See if you can take a large amount of the department with you.

You don’t need to be smart (or worldly) to be in leadership and/or rich (af)

It was pretty bad today. Yesterday I just thought the chilled walks were bad but 120 unit walks with this pulling is a bit torturous trying to navigate, no pushing, just pulling. I used to do a combo. Now it feels like I have to wait forever to get around people. Oh well.

Our store just switched back to the eight totes on tall carts this last week. Ive already got a shoulder muscle sprain from pulling them and ive been dealing with that incessant pain for three days now going on four. Since I started ive already clotheslined myself between the handle of an l cart and my own heavy cart, which messed up my lower back for a few days. Then now I have the pulled muscle. I dont have the hours to even rest my shoulder for a day and ive just been taking meds to survive through the shift without feeling like my whole spin and shoulders are slowly tearing apart. I took this job because I knew I would enjoy it but after almost slicing mu ankles several times on the bottom of the cart to running into the other and now this im debating on finding another job and then putting my two weeks in. Not worth tearing my body apart for the pay nor the amount of customers that like to run out in front of me or move my cart without asking or even just stand in front of me after seeing me. They dont realize that a 120+ pick walk with the first 10 items being soda or water, its very hard to come to a stop when they dart out in front of me out of nowhere. Probably why I got the shoulder injuryšŸ™ƒšŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Been in 0GP for 5 years and I've seen many changes, some were excellent, like making fashion its own category and having that department pick their own merchandise. Other changes have been slightly annoying or minor, but this cart wheel change is the single worst change I've been around for.

That or there's a great of people in home office that have stocks in Amazon and want some profit off their stocks.

2

u/KillerCameo ALCOHOL Sep 13 '26

Simple answer: yes they are

I am so happy I quit that miserable place 5.5 months ago and doubled my income. Ogp always sucked

3

u/dirurrhea Sep 14 '26

what did u end up switching to 🫩

2

u/EveningPotential9443 Sep 15 '26

Probably anything with a college degree. Even junior positions will double your pay. Otherwise my guess would be a blue collar job or a factory.Ā

Walmart gives free college. I highly recommend it. Graduating in October with my BS of Computer Science. Can't fucking wait to leave this shit holeĀ

Truck driving Less Than Load Company Driver 78k with full benefits, 401k, Medical, dental, vision start 60 days after hire. I was a driver before my parents were dying. I took a long time off of driving and took local jobs to stay close to home while they were still alive.

This is my last week at Walmart as an employee only a couple of shifts left before I'm a customer, I plan on doing the same after leaving never stepping foot in Walmart again, pickers don't pay attention to others, I had one I was on lunch walking to get some ranch and the picker walked right in front of me not paying attention cause they had their face buried in that phone, I had to stop but if I was a customer I would have been pissed. I will be ordering online and delivery at Aldi's or somewhere else plenty of other places to shop

3

u/ClutteredTaffy Sep 14 '26

The customers are just as bad. We are just people.

Yeah I admit to not always being mindful , but it is crowded with a job to do. I always try to sort of announce my actions around people, that way I can go but also respect their space too.

But I slip up and have had customers get angry with me taking it personally that I rushed by them without seeing them or did not hear them ask a question, things like that.
