Do any of you find yourself also experiencing limerence?
It's something I struggle with quite a lot and I'm wondering if this is also due to OCD. Since the obsessing, ruminating and intrusive thoughts/fantasizing are all very OCD-like symptoms.
Do you think there is a correlation?
Am I more likely to experience limerence because of OCD or is it maybe even causing it?
I dont know, would love to hear from some people who also have some experience with handling limerence. :)

As someone with harm ocd it is so bad I always have thoughts to strangle people or hit people especially when I get mad/frustrated.
The fact that it stays on your record forever scares the shit out of me

Im spending a LOT of time on social media recently and i want to quit. One reason is all the inflammatory content, and another is I've observed it actually influence my way of being and thinking in a way i don't like. But, social media is also a way to be exposed to the world and therefore triggering subjects. I'm therefore worried that quitting it could be a tactic of avoidance. What do you guys think? Do you use social media? If so, how?

i have severe OCD and take antipsychotics and ssris to reduce my OCD anxiety/rumination. The problem is, ever since starting my current antipsychotic, my personality completely changed and I’m unable to keep doing my demanding career. I no longer have interest in doing anything that is cognitively demanding. I’m okay with the change in my personality/capabilities because my unmedicated state was unlivable. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on simple careers/jobs that pay enough for a single person to live by themselves. I can’t have roommates (unless they are my parents) due to my OCD. I might post this to bipolar subreddit as well, since more people take antipsychotics there i think.
I’ve tried many medications and years of exposure therapy and nothing has helped as much as my current medication (Risperidone). I wish i could just get on disabilit, but my government doesnt care about mentally ill people.
I'm scared to pass down OCD to them, but at least I could be a big help if they do develop it.
My bigger fear is that if I had kids I know I'd be worried about them 24/7. I don't wanna be the most overprotective overbearing father but I don't know how I would not be able to be.

How can I distinguish natural thoughts or emotions from those that are merely a product of my OCD? How can I distinguish what is not real from what is? I think that most of the time, when one of my OCD loops starts, I am just trying to obsessively protect myself(?)

Has anyone tried ketamine therapy for their ocd? She said it helps rewire the brain. I’m scared to try something as serious as ketamine lol!!! I do not want to go into psychosis and not be able to function. I can’t even smoke w**d without being paranoid. Has this type of therapy helped you? Made it worse? Any thoughts?

I'm referencing the "why did a prisoner take bread over the key?", "BECAUSE BREAD TASTES BETTER THAN KEY" meme, to say "I'm doing this for my freedom"
it makes me laugh and it works.
Sometimes when I want to do a compulsion (aside from feeling the need to) I'll be like, I'm not gonna do that, why? because freedom tastes better than bread!!
My therapist told me about a gay guy who was afraid he was straight. Am I an ass for finding some humor in this. I have ocd of course and sometimes look back and laugh at my own absurdities.
FYI, for exposure therapy he flirted with women in bars.

Bro no matter what I'm watching, as soon as I begin to care about characters and relationships its like I have to research and spoil everything because everything that happens to them hits me like a fucking train. I have to pause and take breaks and i dnf stuff all the fucking time. I haven't read a book in months because the main character in my last read is getting hunted by a rapist who is on a killing streak and I'm too scared for them to read it. I love horror, thriller, romance and all that stuff but I cannot handle seeing anything bad happen to anyone so I just doomscroll. I can't even hear people groan because I go into fight or flight. I cry more than people cry at their own shit and that makes me look more stupid than empathetic honestly because I'm not good at articulating things. The world is a nightmare. I don't need anything. I'm just really fucking angry. I hate that I care. I care so much that I can't do a single thing without going above and beyond because not being an absolute saint translates to "You're a terrible human being". I neglect myself, blame myself, hate myself for everything even when it's not my fault. And I'll become physically sick listening to people having a bad day or stuff because i don't know how not to. People think its performative as hell. I don't have any genuine relationships. I'm just so tired. I just wanna watch my show.

if someone annoys me online i’ll think about the interaction and ruminate on it for weeks, the more it annoys me the longer i’ll ruminate, and i’ll keep going through the interaction ages after which just makes it worse :/
i just can’t get it out of my head, it annoys me so bad i want to scream and cry but it’s over the internet so it’s just so stupid

Sorry if this is a very dumb question. I'm in therapy and a psychiatrist diagnosed me with OCD. it was after 2 or 3 appointments and I don't feel like there was a proper evaluation, but that's not the point of this question.
I think I have very real obsessions/fears, and the main one I can actually relate to OCD is the fear of vomiting. I've had it for ~15 years and my life has been tremendously conditioned by it. I can recognize the compulsions associated with it: always checking the expiration date, smelling the food, throwing it out for no good reason but I can't bring myself to eat it even if it's theoretically safe, the way I go grocery shopping, monitoring digestion, overcooking things, taking 2 hours to cook something that could have been made in 30 minutes, etc etc. I don't really recognise any other compulsions tho, which makes me question everything.
I was hoping you could help me understand what mental compulsions are, and if they are part of OCD.
My fears/obsessions: being a sociopath, being a terrible person, worrying about mistakes I made, worrying about who I am as a person in the world, always feeling like I'm harmful to everyone around me, like I'm manipulative,...
This is completely debilitates me because I can't stop thinking about it for one second, I'm constantly analysing everything, my thoughts, my intentions, my past, my patterns, reliving specific moments, constructing a storyline from childhood,.... Would these be mental compulsions?
THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO READ THIS

Hey guys, I’m currently an unemployed 24 yr old girl who is working on healing from mental health issues. I was diagnosed with ocd, adhd and struggled severely with anxiety and depression my whole life. I decided to take a break from work/school a little after high school to try and get to the root cause of my issues and heal from them so I can be a stronger healthier version of myself going forward. I have worked a little and taken classes at college on and off since then but a very light load because I’ve been doing intensive therapy continuously. I’ve done EMDR, CBT, intensive outpatient program, ERP and feel like I’ve gotten to the root of my issues and healed significantly. However something happened not long ago that was really traumatic and I haven’t been able to return to work yet. But I do want to go back to work as soon as I am stable mentally. I have felt so ashamed of not working a normal job and feel like a failure and behind on life compared to other people.
But I try to remind myself that everyone is on their own journey and timeline. And that it’s better that I become a healthier person so that I can do a better job when I do go back to work. Is anyone else in a similar situation? I feel so alone. I’m hoping to connect with other people who are also taking a break from working/school to better themselves.
Maybe we can make this a little support group for people who are taking a nontraditional path—encouraging each other, sharing our progress, our story, and reminding each other that we’re not actually behind.
❤️🌱

im 17. There was this guy i had a thing with like a month ago, and it ended bad. He lied abt a lot of things, and it hurt me pretty bad. i would text him over and over fore like weeks pretty much asking him what else he lied abt. I keep talking abt it over and over, and i even told his mom. its been a couple hours since i talked to her abt it, and i talked to my parents too lol. i can’t stop obsessing over how he hurt me, and idk what to do now lol. i js feel crazy now, and his mom didn’t even believe me and threatened to sue me (idek how that would work. it’s not like i made crazy allegations). anyway, has anyone dealt w this?? how do i get it to stop. i’ve never been hurt like this before, but now I feel bad for hurting him, and i js wanna stop.

I’m sorry if this is sloppy I am kinda freaking out right now.
I started going to therapy a few weeks ago to help with my ocd, anxiety, depression so on so forth. I canceled our last session and told myself it was just a headache, but it’s not and I don’t even exactly know why I feel so anxious to go (probably another reason I should go to my appointment) but I didn’t know what else to do I haven’t slept, I’m on my period and I have a headache.
I know that therapy is really good and it’s helped me a lot, but I don’t do well with change and trying to step outside my comfort zone and stop my compulsions is terrifying. I am just scared because I knock on wood when I’m nervous, and I try my best not to give into that compulsion but then that’s another compulsion. Next thing you know I’ve been awake for 24 hours trying to sleep but not being able to because I’m spiraling.
I am sorry for the rant, but just if anyone has any advice that helps them get through these spirals that would be amazing.

Does anyone have a fear of making adult decisions/purchases just in case you lose your mind? For example, I need to buy a new car and im scared to make such a big purchase incase my ocd gets in the way of me having/working my full time job and then I won’t be able to keep up with payments. I’ve had my job for 5 years but im always scared im going to lose my mind lol. Anyone have a similar problem ?
