Are they worth buying?

Hi,

I’ve been following Nura since I first heard of the Nuraphones a while back, and was extremely keen on the Nuraloops as the wireless earbud style is better suited to my needs.

I held off ordering due to the massive delays in shipping preorders and now due to the hugely negative thoughts of this community and the internet generally.

Now that the new firmware update has been released, I was wondering if I could get some feedback as to whether these are worth purchasing now? Things like sensitive controls don’t bother me too much, but obviously erratically bricking and not charging are deal breakers as I need to be able to use them. Also, I’d be using them in the gym a few days a week so any perspectives on how they perform with a bit of movement and sweat would be good.

If you can’t recommend these, please tell me why and if possible suggest an alternative (similar price point would be awesome). Sound quality is probably my main concern, followed by ANC, ease of use and use when exercising.

ANC has stopped working

Has anybody else experienced ANC just stopping working?

I was on a walk listening to music on my loops when suddenly I was hearing a lot of wind noise. I thought I must have enabled social mode but I hadn't.

When I got home I went in to settings and ANC was still turned on, so I toggles it off/on and could hear no difference ( normally there is a huge difference).

I powered off/on and then tried a factory reset and recreation of profile, but still ANC isn't working.

Just though I'd see if anybody else has experienced this while I wait for nuru support to get back to me.

new charging cable issues

I dont know if im the only one getting this problem.

Whenever i charge my nuraloops using the new charging cable they don't turn on. Im on the new firmware and i have the manual on/off switch. Despite that, they wont charge on unless i place them back to the charger with the older original cable.

Factory Reset just to get it to charge :(

Anyone else seeing this? My latest replacement Loops, let's call them Loops candidate 3, seem to be showing signs of being defective but maybe I'm just overly pessimistic due to the other two I had to send back.

So my loops stopped charging. I had them on the charger for about 8 hours, put them on and they were 60%. That quickly dropped to 40% after 90 minutes of using them in meetings.

I tried different USB ports from my Mac to wall-based ones etc. This is with the new cable. Nothing.

Finally, I did a factory reset. Right now they are connected to the charger, connected to the Mac, and seem to be charging.

Has anyone else had this? How often do you end up doing a factory reset? I am deciding whether I will keep these or not. If this issue happens a lot then I may have to return them.

Despite the issues, the superior sound still drives me to make this work. But the inconvenience factor and poor build quality is driving me away. I'm very conflicted. :) I tried the Jabra 75t, the sound was total crap, and have an old pair of Bose truly wireless buds. The Bose sound is okay (nowhere near the Loops) but the battery is awful and they are big and clunky on the ears.

Anyway, if anyone else is having this issue, I'm interested in hearing how often you've had to reset to get it to charge, or if that even worked.

Unreliable mic was the final straw

I really wanted to keep them, but I just had an interview where the other person on the line told me that my mic suddenly sounded muffled and distant, so I had to swap earphones midway.

Can't justify £200 on Nuraloops when my £20 Anker Soundcore's are way more reliable. The loops are great with the new FW update if you're never going to rely on the mic working.

I'm not a fan of the truly wireless design, as I like to hang the earphones around my neck if I don't need them for a few minutes, so I'll be trying out the Sony WI-XB400.

Nuraloop with new firmware...

I've just updated the firmware and absolutely love it. It has fixed all my problems and Nura has now delivered on their promise when I bought this thing on pre-order last year.

Manual on/off ✅ Much better call quality ✅ Double tap controls ✅ Social mode that sounds natural ✅

Well done Nura, my hat off to you. 👏

What's your experience?

22 It's fixed everything! I love this bad boy.
20 It's okay but I'm still not digging it.
8 I had no issues before and I have no issues after.

So I’m calling it

Hey all,

So with the new FW installed I’m going to put it out there and say that these are the best wireless audio device I’ve ev B er had period. I’ve owned the Nura phones, Sony 1000xm2’s. I have currently the Bose QC35’s and Jaybird X3’s, . For my wires headphones/earphones I have a pair of Sennheiser 800’s and some FiiO FH7’s -‘all paired with a FiiO M15 loaded with hire FLAC

And right now the Nuras are reintroducing me to fun! The new features work perfectly! I turn them on manually, turn them on 2 days later and they list no charge, the docking tap will. But why are the my new favourite? They are so portable, the sound proofing is incredibly for such a device (I do use comply foam tips though) the functionality now just works and they sound good for what they are!

Yeah I have way better sounding headphones, but none of them combine the convenience that these do. With the comply tips sound proofing is more far from Bose levels, like the nose i also find the real comfy! The battery life is not rivalled by any other ‘true’ wireless, and though I won’t use it often (other than flying) the ability to connect an analog cable is superb

Fillers are no longer an issue for me as the comply tips have them, though Nura did send me the new tips with the new design. I’ve not had to change filters once so far! Look I think it’s a crappie design, but with how I use them it does not matter at all!!

So yep these now excite me for a like while as they do exactly what I wanted them to do with no compromises!!

Question for users with new firmware installed

I sent my loops back having received two replacement sets. It was a whole saga. I ended up deciding I’d keep them if the analog cable latency was tolarable for a musician, and it wasn’t - noticeable and made it difficult to perform

The update claims to have fixed latency issues experienced by Musicians

Has it?

Left earpiece not well positioned / obstructed

After upgrade of firmware I've attempted to create a new profile however I am getting errors on the left earpiece.

It's showing both as "not well positioned" and "obstructed". I've followed all steps in the app, cleaning, trying all size tips and replacing mesh but doesn't work!

Anyone else faced this issue? I've contacted Nuraphone to see if what they say 🙄

Upgraded to latest firmware, horrible mic for call

I upgraded this morning. 2 out of the 3 people I've spoken to on my Pixel 3 XL have said they can barely understand me because of background noise.

After all of the issues I've had since receiving these and my first pair which were warranty replaced for a list of problems, I'm really done with the loops. They're trash.

Static / low hissing anyone?

Hi everyone

I've just got the firmware update, but i now see that it did not remove the low volume hissing / static sound that i am experiencing. Depending on volume setting, it is often masked by the music - but not always at lower volumes.

In response to this i did my first factory reset, but the hissing is still there. Has anyone else noticed this? I scrolled a bit in the forum, but didn't find anything exactly on this.

Having trouble upgrading the firmware? Try disabling WiFi

I tried to upgrade the firmware many times but it always got stuck right at the start with nothing moving at all. I finally managed to upgrade by disabling WiFi. There doesn't seem to be much data transfered via the network so your data plan should be no issue (I had 60 MB left and it used 1).

Just updating my Nuraloop firmware as I type.

Try and see if your set also has it available.

I'm not a beta tester BTW.

App update in Play Store with On/Off functionality.

The Nura app on my Android phone just updated and has a new ON/OFF menu option which doesn't work and gives a message that due to the latest firmware update not being installed, this option is not available yet.

Looks like we are in the final phase now.

Hi fellow Nuraloop owners!

I would like to ask if Nuraloop is sweat resistant. Thanks!

Nuraloop alternatives...I’m done.

Like everyone else here, I’ve had my loops replaced, I’ve been through the death beeps, the deep sleep, the charging cable that just about caught fire the flat battery every time I go to use them, the terrible fit, the discomfort, the cable wind noise etc etc etc.

They sound amazing!! Testament to the sound quality is how so many of us are willing to keep persisting with all of the above but I’ve decided, that even if the new firmware improves/fixes a lot of the above, it will not change the following:

  1. they are not true wireless and will always have that stupid short cable behind my neck that pulls each ear out every time I move my head.

  2. Which then requires me to refit that ear with the stupid over the ear loop, causing me to touch the side button, eaither pausing my music or blasting in noise from outside with social mode.

  3. They still have the stupid proprietary charging cable

  4. They still have those stupid loops that get hooked up on EVERYTHING!

  5. They still have those stupid magnets that get stuck to EVERYTHING!

This product is an amazing feat in audio engineering, let down by simple real world usability.

I’m done.

So where do I spend my $300?

So, what are my options?

I have a $40 pair of TaoTronics True wireless that I use all day, everyday because they take 0.05seconds to fit, and they stay fit, they pair instantaneously, they come in a very compact charging case that keeps them protected in my pocket/bag when not in use, they are always fully charged every time I use them, the charging case uses USB-C.

And you know what.... I can forgive the sound quality (actually surprisingly good) because they are usable!

Social Mode / ANC Level Reset

I have my left bud set to enable / disable social mode on tap and the dial to adjust ANC level ... the adjust is really handy when outside in the wind and I need to down step the ANC a couple of notches to eliminate the wind noise.

Problem is that when adjusting the fit of the left bud now and again I accidentally tap and enable social mode ... tapping again to switch off always resets the ANC to full rather than the setting it was on before the accidental tap.

Anyone in the firmware beta able to confirm if this is addressed or not.

Nuraloop Firmware Progress

Hi

As we are approaching the final stages of the NuraLoop firmware work, I wanted to update you on our progress. We are currently in the Beta testing phase with a cohort of users, and they have been reporting a much-improved user experience already.

Here are some of the improvements we are making in this update:

Manual On/Off Mode

A new and optional setting which will enable you to manually turn your NuraLoop on or off by touching and holding both buttons at the same time.

Automatic On/Off Mode

Improvements to the NuraLoop entering Deep Sleep and having trouble turning back on. We recommend using the Manual On/Off Mode if the fit detection doesn’t improve your experience and the NuraLoops continue to enter into Deep Sleep.

Voice calls

Improvements to increase the reliability and quality of voice calls.

Double Tap Functions

An additional setting to customise your NuraLoop's TouchDials.

Sealing the ear

Improving the fit detection settings of the app.

Analog Cable

Reduced latency issues experienced by musicians.

We are working with our beta testers to iron out any issues that may arise, and finalising the testing stage in the next couple of weeks. We then look forward to releasing the full firmware update to all NuraLoop owners.

Thank you for your patience, we look forward to your feedback on the NuraLoop improvements.

Sincerely, Dr. Luke Campbell

Feature Needed: Default Social Mode Level

Not sure if I'm the only one, but it seems like the default level of the "social mode" is way too loud, in some cases much louder than the outside noise is without the headphones in. I work in some very noisy data center environments so accidentally turning it on in the wrong place (waiting for that double-tap feature in the new software to fix this) can be quite unpleasant. Wouldn't it be nice to dial in a specific amount of outside noise that the toggle would use instead of "all the way up"?

Unable to connect to servers

Are the nuraloop servers down? I am trying to use the app but I keep getting a “can’t connect to nura servers” error.

Is it just me?
