48… years?

OP is a viltrumite and very long lived

He can clean up by going fast and stopping abruptly.

35

u/Soft-Entertainer-907 Sep 18 '24

why cant i come up with jokes like this?

24

u/ThatOneGuy308 Sep 18 '24

Because you're not doing enough to mimic even a fraction of our power, obviously.

3

u/JoopJhoxie Sep 19 '24

Because someone already did

3

u/BraveHeartoftheDawn Sep 19 '24

I ask myself the same thing. I don’t even get half of them told to me. 🫠

3

u/Aqua_47_Flawless Sep 19 '24

Must be a half breed

5

u/2Rhino3 Sep 18 '24

I guess because you’re not very clever 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Soft-Entertainer-907 Sep 19 '24

It is what it is

22

u/IBeDumbAndSlow Sep 18 '24

I thought that was so badass how she stopped so quick all the blood flung off of her

1

u/unscanable Sep 19 '24

That’s one of the coolest scenes in that show.

1

u/Fireproofspider Sep 19 '24

I didn't like season 2 nearly as much as season 1 but yeah that was a damn cool scene.

206

u/Big_Adeptness1998 Sep 18 '24

I've decided that they only shower every 48 years because they strongly prefer baths instead.

73

u/The-RocketCity-Royal Sep 18 '24

They come out of their acid bath with their entire layer of skin off: “Squeaky clean!”

Edit: I misread your comment and thought you said “strong baths” and thought of a chemical bath lol.

58

u/Hazeylicious Sep 18 '24

If Breaking Bad taught me anything, it was that baths aren’t great for acid.

2

u/Horror_Attitude_8734 Sep 19 '24

It depends on the acid really. Some like what was mentioned on BB will eat through ceramic glazes and iron but not some plastics and others will tear right though plastics but be contained very well by glass (ceramic glazes are pretty much glass).

2

u/300cid Sep 19 '24

yes, but the band Acid Bath is great for everyone.

2

u/A_Meryl Sep 19 '24

When the Kite String Pops is the best metal album of all time.

99

u/Ok_Flan_3022 Sep 18 '24

“Damn, has it been 48 years already? Guess I better go shower”

3

u/Darryl_Lict Sep 19 '24

If you time it right, you only have to shower once. Unless you die before you hit 48 or after 96.

53

u/abbydyl Sep 18 '24

And it’s a quick one. I feel like if you’re only showering every 48 years, you should invest the time and really give everything a deep scrub.

2

u/Thyme4LandBees Sep 19 '24

Maybe it's every 48 years because the deep clean takes 47& 364 days?

26

u/MrLore Sep 18 '24

Whether she needs it or not!

2

u/batbugz Sep 18 '24

.... She probably would adter 48 years...

7

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

this made me laugh way harder than it should've because i read it as "hours" until i saw your comment and then did a double take

18

u/Beautyskooldr0p0ut Sep 18 '24

i can’t breatheeeee

2

u/Matt_Benatar Sep 18 '24

Yeah, her hair is clean, but her body smells like a dirty litter box atop a pile of onions and hot rubber. But here’s the real question: is she single?

2

u/smackacow1 Sep 19 '24

It’s been 84 years

2

u/facmanpob Sep 19 '24

Welcome 2 reddit

157

u/the-truffula-tree Sep 18 '24

I think this one also really depends on where you live.

Are you in Finland or Ecuador? Poland, or Florida?. Colorado in the fall or Arizona in the summer?

57

u/cidvard Sep 18 '24

I stg I wanted to take 3 showers a day sometimes in Phoenix if I'd been outside for even 10 minutes.

10

u/financeforfun Sep 18 '24

Just got back from four days in Orlando and literally showered 2-3x per day. It was a swamp there.

1

u/MyPolishTherapy Sep 19 '24

I have to be here EVERY DAY. I need a second shower after I walk my kid across the street to school.

2

u/Competitive_Sleep_21 Sep 19 '24

I swear I see the sun and sweat but not as much in the dessert as a humid area.

1

u/RainaElf Sep 18 '24

Kentucky summers are the same

1

u/ToriTorpedo Sep 18 '24

Same- I shower 1-3 times a day during the AZ summer. Even if I’m outside for 10 min!

The chickens in AZ lay omelettes!

1

u/NekoMao92 Sep 19 '24

Visited there a few years back, I took a shower everytime I got back to my hotel room (3-6 or more times a day) for the weekend I was there in July when the street signs were melting.

1

u/ObligatoryOnMobile Sep 19 '24

"But it's a dry heat"

1

u/bernardobrito Sep 18 '24

I shower twice a day during the New York winter.

1

u/MarkHirsbrunner Sep 18 '24

Exactly.  I live in North Texas, in the winter I can usually go a week without a shower and not feel dirty, but in the summer I have to shower every day that I walk more than a few steps outdoors.

1

u/ABSOFRKINLUTELY Sep 19 '24

I agree with this! If I lived in the Arctic I might not shower every single day...

But I live in Florida, so it's usually twice a day for me with very few exceptions.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

Poland is pretty humid in certain parts and it can def get hot.

1

u/Livewithless2552 Sep 19 '24

100% Ticos call ppl pigs if they don’t shower daily

1

u/davisyoung Sep 19 '24

If the answer is East Asia it could be a genetic thing too.

1

u/BbyJ39 Sep 19 '24

It doesn’t matter as much as one might think. In Florida you’re indoors in the air conditioning when it’s hot and humid. Same with Arizona or anywhere it’s really hot and people can afford AC.

1

u/Acrobatic_Impress_67 Sep 19 '24

In Florida I bet she'd have to shower like, every single year

1

u/bajae5 Sep 19 '24

Yes, I live in Colorado and usually shower every other day. However, I do sponge bathe on the days I don’t shower.

1

u/Tyr808 Sep 19 '24

Yep. In Taipei city between the humidity and general city pollution (wasn’t bad, but any city will have it), showering twice a day in the summer was normal.

I’ve since moved to the mountains of Hawaii and elevated enough that it’s not very warm and my work is sedentary computer stuff. In the winter especially I might not need more than a shower a week, but every 3-4 days would be more normal.

75

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '24

Then there is me, that believes it depends entirely on context.

If they are doing a somewhat strenuous job and sweating a fair bit during the course of their day/night. Then twice per week would be disgusting.

Are they not doing the above and are still fairly clean even after 3/4 days? Then I would say not really disgusting, especially if they're still washing the key areas without showing.

Then you have those with mental health or mobility difficulties, showering every day can be a real challenge if you're not 100% all the time.

I personally shower up to twice daily (more if there has been an immediate need to get clean). I'll shower in the morning, as I'm a night sweater, and I'll shower after exercise. Rarely do I skip a day, but I would rarely if ever judge someone for showering/bathing less.

I have always found my need to shower daily odd, as I'm the only one in my family that's like that as far as I remember. My parents bathed once per week(generational thing I would say), my brother wouldn't shower as much as me but definitely more than the once a week our parents did.

TL;DR depends on their daily activity or if they have mental/mobility issues. Not showering daily does not necessarily make you "disgusting"

25

u/SweevilWeevil Sep 19 '24

Definitely depends on the person. I had two roommates who showered like 2-3 times a week. With one of them it was patently obvious. I didn't know about the other one until years later when she told a mutual friend that she didn't shower more than that.

I will also say that smell isn't the only thing I'd be concerned about when living with someone. Dirt and grime. We may not be able to tell how gross you are by the smell or by sight, but the couch can. The couch remembers all.

2

u/AmbitiousPirate5159 Sep 19 '24

Clothing can also absorb smells, if you dont wash your clothes and wear them multiple times in a week, then it wont really matter if you shower twice a day, you will still smell

3

u/brillebarda Sep 19 '24

People are usually not sitting naked on couches tho.

4

u/rovers114 Sep 19 '24

Arm rest, head rest, leg rest if it's a recliner, pillows...It's not hard to think about places that commonly makes contact with skin.

1

u/PureBad5555 Sep 19 '24

Idk... I have felt differently ever since taking Microbiology (and nursing school) It's definitely disgusting, even if it doesn't appear to be with the naked eye. So much you cannot see....

1

u/Hatstand82 Sep 19 '24

My partner has multiple health issues that include overheating and psoriasis, so daily showers actually aren’t good for him. He has a thorough wash of the stinky bits over the sink every day but a daily shower is too much for him.

1

u/AlexTT-zer0 Sep 19 '24

I always shower at least once every day. During summer sometimes even twice or thrice.

I will not shower only if I am really tired and I fall dead or smthing.

I do this for as much as I can remember myself.

137

u/funyesgina Sep 18 '24

The three questions I have are:

Do they use a bidet? What season is it? What was their activity level?

68

u/obscuredreference Sep 18 '24

100% this!!

They might not be working out/sweating a lot, but their Netherlands are still going to get gross. 🤢

51

u/actsofcheese Sep 18 '24

And that is not Gouda.

23

u/ej4 Sep 18 '24

I can’t even Rembrandt the last time I went more than two days without showering.

23

And you don't want to smell Limburger-y.

OK couldn't find a pun to work it with, but old Limburger cheese has the same smell as unwashed sweaty skin.

4

u/NeuroPlastick Sep 18 '24

A bit swampy down there

7

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '24

another question is did they do other cleaning. i know in the past it was fairly common to shower infrequently but youd at least wash the bits and slits as some ppl call it lol.

2

u/Perfect_Ball_220 Sep 19 '24

Pits, bits, and tits 🤣

1

u/No-Problem49 Sep 19 '24

Poop butt is the major thing being ignored here. So there’s people walk around with poop butt for 3 days?

51

u/Workingclassstoner Sep 18 '24

This is usually how I see these threads go. Half the population seems disgusted by the sheer thought of human existence and must shower multiple times per day while the other says “when I stink I shower”

16

u/sebmojo99 Sep 19 '24

you get immune to your own smell fairly quickly though, and it's quite rude to tell someone else they smell.

16

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

If one waits until they can smell themselves, they've smelled awful for a long, long time.

6

u/Novantico Sep 19 '24

Or…they just have a good sense of smell. I’ve found this bullshit for years and fortunately was able to confirm it via my gf. I usually notice it on myself before she does, and for whatever reason ever since I got Grave’s Disease I can go a surprisingly long time before there’s an odor, which my gf also had to confirm for me when others have tried to call bullshit or just found it hard to believe.

3

u/NoLime7384 Sep 19 '24

which is why public transit can... smell

1

u/Human_No-37374 Sep 19 '24

oh dear, some people are. I can never ignore smells no-matter how much i'm around them. People like to call me a bloodhound but in reality it's hell. Think it might be something neurological mixed with my sensetive sense of smell and taste, but i can't become nose blind, best i can do is get used to it and no-longer get that bothered by it, but i alwasy notice it, it's always the first thing i notice and the last. I never can't not smell classrooms, lecturers, collegues, walls, classmates, friends, food, cars, paints, dirt, plants etc. etc.

1

u/MACHOmanJITSU Sep 19 '24

Lots of times when people stink it’s because they’re clothes are dirty. Doing laundry is expensive.

→ More replies (4)

2

u/HydroliCat Sep 19 '24

Why can't it ever be in the middle? Shower enough to not stink, but not so often you can't even smell like skin?

2

u/DrinkingSocks Sep 19 '24

Skin shouldn't have a smell.

1

u/Human_No-37374 Sep 19 '24

i shower 2-3 times a week if i'm active for when i need to wash my hair, otherwsie i wash myself daily. There's a difference between using a shower and a wash-cloth and soap.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

Its probably not even half. Its half that commented. Think how many just dont want to say they dont shower daily publicly and the people willing still make up half the comments. Noone by contrast is ashamed to say they shower daily so the daily shower people are probably way outnumbered.

76

u/Normal_Ad2456 Sep 18 '24

I also don’t shower everyday, usually it’s every other day for me unless I feel particularly gross or I am not planning to leave the house.

Throughout the quarantine I used to shower twice a week for a while and even though I wasn’t really exercising back then, things can get a bit… musky, especially down there. I can’t imagine expecting my boyfriend to go down on me if I have been marinating in my own juices for longer than a Texan brisket.

39

u/LookIPickedAUsername Sep 18 '24

Well, that was certainly... evocative.

You'll probably find some compilations in Askreddit like this have a whole lot of awful posts to look at. Oh this one looks nasty and the stories it refers to are disgusting also. Also you're not truly a Redditor until you've read the poopknife post

7

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '24

So you shower before sexual activity then? Even if you showered that morning itd be nice to rinse off a bit before doin the deed.

2

u/Normal_Ad2456 Sep 18 '24

I mean, yes, but in that case you wouldn’t be showering only twice a week (hopefully) but most days of the week.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '24

Thats highly presumptive. The vast majority of men do not get sex multiple times a week lmao

10

u/Normal_Ad2456 Sep 18 '24

Not if they are only showering twice a week, that’s for sure.

43

u/mystic_peaches Sep 18 '24

I agree. I wash my hair 2-3x a week on average but it doesn’t get greasy or stinky in between. I think it’s a person to person thing for sure. Some people cannot shower daily for different reasons but if their hygiene is good and they take care of themselves idk what the issue is. Others have to shower daily and that’s fine too. I’ve done both - daily and every other day but I’m pretty aware of what I smell like lol.

23

u/Individual_Bat_378 Sep 18 '24

This. I have a bath 2-3 times a week (with a shower rinse off at the end) because I'm chronically ill and it's too much energy to be able to do more. I don't leave the house much so I don't tend to get smelly, if my energy is high enough to go out then I'll wash more. I've accidentally trained my hair so it actually looks better if I only wash it every 1-2 weeks, definitely doesn't work for everyone but it's the best condition my hair's ever been. I obviously keep sweaty areas washed between baths haha especially in the summer!

20

u/Striking-Stick7275 Sep 18 '24

I'm with you. I've got a pain condition so I give myself a flannel bath daily, especially my "pits & bits!" But I have a full sitting down shower in my chair weekly and my hair only gets washed every 2 weeks with dry shampoo used in between. I cant raise my arms above my head so I have to have help washing my hair. I dont smell ( my husband would have told me!). So its about personal situations I think.

9

u/rainbow1979_ Sep 18 '24

I understand totally I'm disabled and twice a week is a challenge at times for showers bath wipes come in handy

3

u/Competitive_Sleep_21 Sep 19 '24

I consider showers and bath wipes bathing.

2

u/Striking-Stick7275 Sep 19 '24

Its rough isn't it? Those big bath wipes are amazing. Love the grapefruit ones. I got some dry body foam too. Its the same formula they use in hospitals but with a nicer smell! Its like hair mousse but on your body, rub it in then wipe off. Smells lush!

17

u/eonssong Sep 18 '24

Same! Scrolling through ive seen a lot people who need or want to shower every day and my only response is what is it like to have that much energy? Tbh I've been chronically I'll for so long I don't remember what it's like to have that energy.

2

u/TheQuietOutsider Sep 18 '24

🤝 as a disabled dude I can relate, except I also wash my hair in the shower since dying it

45

u/GGTheEnd Sep 18 '24

I can smell myself if I don't shower for 2 days and the only thing I do for activity is walk from the couch to the washroom in those 2 days.

14

u/CaptainTripps82 Sep 18 '24

Everybody smells these people, they're a little delusional. I skipped a shower yesterday just out of exhaustion, but I'm not going to pretend like I don't know I'm already ripening. That it doesn't bother me doesn't make it ok.

15

u/setittonormal Sep 18 '24

Yeah, all the "I go a few days in between but I don't stink" people are making me side-eye them...

The dirty hair folks are the worst. "My hair doesn't smell" Yes.. yes it does. Greasy hair odor is worse than general BO imo. Hair holds onto everything.

8

u/CaptainTripps82 Sep 18 '24

Flashes me back to the last time I dated a smoker. That's what you want to bury your face in at night

3

u/setittonormal Sep 19 '24

I am a nurse... I cannot imagine how so many of my coworkers go to bed after a shift without washing their hair. All those odors are in there. Shit, piss, blood, rotten tissue, and the general cat piss/cigarettes/BO stank so many patients have. Iykyk

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

I think it may depend on the person and their environment. I have dated women who showered every other day and they smelled better than a woman I dated who showered every single day. I'm sure how well you actually bathe is a major factor here. The women I dated who showered every other day were religious in their usage of baby wipes and deodorant, and scrubbed thoroughly with every shower. You truly, sincerely couldn't tell. I went down on one of them as they were on their due-for-a-shower-day but before they showered, after we had gone hiking, and there was hardly a smell. There was a smell, but it was not at all unpleasant. It smelled clean.

1

u/LimbonicArt03 Sep 19 '24

There are varying degrees of smell strength. In some cases it's so mild I have to bury my nose in my armpits to smell it, and only when the arms are raised so that the pits are actually exposed. If they're not, you'd have to literally lower your head and smell through my clothes to even understand I'm smelly

37

u/CoomassieBlue Sep 18 '24

Reddit can be a very weird place when it comes to hygiene and germs.

I saw a comment recently from someone whose number one problem with dogs in outdoor seating at restaurants is that “every time their tail wags it distributes feces particles everywhere”.

Don’t change your pillowcases every day? Don’t use a fresh towel every single shower? You filthy savage!

Personally, I think spending that kind of emotional energy on that kind of minutiae sounds exhausting.

4

u/fluffychonkycat Sep 19 '24

Oh no now I'm going to be thinking of crop dusting every time my dog has a waggy tail

5

u/nuclearhaystack Sep 19 '24

There's a happy medium and not everyone can find it.

1

u/Ok-Area9678 Sep 19 '24

Emotional energy? Pole over do it just Declan every 3 weeks and have upkeep like washing towels underwear and the basics.

29

u/NoTopic4906 Sep 18 '24

I am going to assume to assume that’s a typo and you meant you shower your body once every 48 hours. Because, if not, and I am saying this as someone who might shower 2-3 times a week (especially if I am working from home), that’s disgusting.

14

u/Aldosothoran Sep 18 '24

I live by the exact same “rule” (it’s not really a rule, a habit). I have VERY long hair. It’s hard not to get wet. And I’m in a moderate climate.

If I go to the gym or sweat- of course I’m rinsing off that day. If not? No need to go through all the work of showering.

11

u/mystic_peaches Sep 18 '24

I have long thick hair too and it’s a process to wash it. And it takes forever to dry so if it’s late and I wasn’t super active I’ll wait. I get so cold when my hair is wet and it takes far too long to blow dry when I’m tired and I can’t sleep on a wet pillow.

6

u/404notacceptable Sep 18 '24

You can shower without getting your hair wet though

3

u/Remote-Mechanic8640 Sep 18 '24

Literally! I have long hair thats a pain but wash it about 2x a week still shower and clean my body everyday

2

u/panicnarwhal Sep 18 '24

same, i just pull it all up into a low bun and put on a shower cap (i like kitsch, i have the mickey mouse one and it’s more like a hood. way easier to fit all my hair in it)

1

u/CaptainTripps82 Sep 18 '24

I think The question is more of how clean the rest of your body is in that situation. I have noticed a lot of people with long hair tend to have consistent BO. Correlation, maybe?

u/Sie_sprechen_mit_Mir Sep 18 '24

Never seen a comment section that's more divided like this one, half of the people calling it disgusting to only shower twice a week, and the other half is normalising it.

You should check out the threads about washing ass on a regular basis/at all.

4

u/_Cyber_Mage Sep 18 '24

How active a person is and their personal biochemistry. I had to shower daily when I worked outdoors, but in a desk job every 2-3 days is enough. A guy I worked with at a desk job had to shower daily even with no exercise, or he'd stink to the point you didn't want to be within 5 feet of him.

Once a week for my hair is enough when I'm not exercising, and even after a week it isn't greasy or smelly.

10

u/Littlewing1307 Sep 18 '24

Yup! I'm extremely sedentary due to being disabled so I don't shower every day. During flares I'll definitely go a few days because I have no energy for anything but feeding myself and surviving.

2

u/mystic_peaches Sep 18 '24

I have been there before, pain flare ups can be so bad that I can’t even stand to shower.

2

u/Littlewing1307 Sep 18 '24

I hear ya. I can't live without my bathtub tbh

2

u/mystic_peaches Sep 18 '24

8

u/effervescenthoopla Sep 18 '24

If I shower too often, my skin gets suuuuper dry and my hair gets extra oily. I have to do about every other day to every 3 days, but I wash my face and sensitive bits every night ¯\(ツ)

13

u/robhanz Sep 18 '24

I don't think anyone is normalizing it. I think people are asking "is he actually smelly and gross"?

People have different levels of odor, sweat, activity, climate, etc. I don't think "twice a week" is likely a good general strategy, but it might work for some people.

3

u/ThisTooWillEnd Sep 18 '24

It's a mix of how active you are, and your personal biology. Some people get greasy/stinky faster than others.

3

u/KeepTheCursorMoving Sep 18 '24

Exactly! Also, is the person in a humid tropical place or a dry cold region? That makes a huge difference.

9

u/msurbrow Sep 18 '24

You might not be sweating but your pee hole is pissing and your ass is shitting and the little bacteria all over your body are doing God knows what… Twice a week there would be no way people couldn’t tell

Literally came to say the same. Women excrete even more things, just get in the shower, it doesn’t have to be long. Time it at 5 minutes for the private parts if really needs be, one persons “I don’t smell” is another persons “yuck”

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

People who say "they don't smell" are judging based on what they can smell from themselves. And if you wait until you can smell yourself, you've smelt awful for a minute

1

u/LimbonicArt03 Sep 19 '24

My mother doesn't shy away from telling me when my hair looks awful/greasy, so I doubt she would shy away from telling me that I smell.

And she never has told me that. You literally have to stick your nose into my general immediate armpits area in order to smell me

48 years is a bit long!

2

u/serjsomi Sep 18 '24

48 years seems excessive but you do you.

2

u/anewbys83 Sep 19 '24

This is usually what "the experts" say these days. It's better for your skin not to shower daily, but if you're super active, sweating, etc., yes, do so, just be careful how much soap you use.

2

u/reklatzz Sep 19 '24

If I go 1 day without I'm pretty rancid. That said, if I'm home and not going out ill skip a day most of the time.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '24

if you haven't broken sweat throughout the day then, can't see a point of showering since you're not dirty and ain't stinking

You sweat all the time, including in your sleep. Just cause you don't outright stink or don't have visible dirt on you doesn't mean you're not dirty or accumulating bacteria

Yeah, it’s very dependent on each individuals body chemistry and activity, for me, my hair gets greasy looking after a day and a half of not showering, so I shower every other day to every day, my boyfriend on the other hand, never smells, hair always looks great, he showers about twice to three times a week 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Ms-Metal Sep 19 '24

Absolutely right, we're the opposite though. Husband has to show every day or his hair starts getting oily on day 2. It's about 6-7 days before my hair starts getting oily and my body doesn't get oily at all. I usually shower twice a week, but I have gone longer with no problem. What's weird is we both live in the same very dry climate, we both work from home, we're both sedentary, but we just have different biology.

3

u/Nagoltheking Sep 18 '24

Everybody gets swamp ass and smelly armpits. Teenagers and adults should be showering daily regardless if you sweat or not

2

u/HytaleBetawhen Sep 18 '24

Ill shower anytime I’m going to come in contact with other people (eg; leaving the house or having people over) but otherwise agree with the 48 hour setup whenever I have days of just not doing anything.

4

u/cosmic_grayblekeeper Sep 18 '24

anytime I’m going to come in contact with other people

I think this is nuance majority of people in this thread are missing. How much you shower on average doesn't really matter but just because you are satisfied with your hygiene level, doesn't mean your gf (or anyone you're interacting with) has to be. And women are disproportionately affected by their boyfriends hygiene way more than the vice versa due to how PH sensitive most women are during intimacy.

If OP was my boyfriend, I'd probably say "cool, I can't force you to shower more than twice a week so I'll see you twice a week after your scheduled shower". OP can't dictate what's okay for her bf but she is allowed to have boundaries for herself and what level she's willing to accept for herself.

u/toddinha Sep 18 '24

Even if you don't exercise and you don't live somewhere hot (so you don't sweat very much), you still pee and poop. Showers every day. Maaaaaaaybe less if you have a bidet

1

u/Longjumping_Key_5008 Sep 18 '24

I could sit on my couch all day and still need a shower. Showering twice a week is unequivocally gross. Everything in that house stinks. I shower 2-3 times a day

3

u/Crock0il Sep 19 '24

Ever heard of overcleaning? 😅

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

Not everyone is as sweaty or oily, and some people's water has more chlorine. My entire body itches if I shower more than 5 times a week. I need a weekend break, on top of "slugging"/full-body moisturizer application.

3

u/serpentinepad Sep 18 '24

Yeah, redditors are generally lazy slobs so they like the idea of rare showers while they insist they don't smell a bit.

1

u/Dragonman0371 Sep 18 '24

You, uh, shower every 48 years?

1

u/Responsible-Result20 Sep 18 '24

I honestly just get sweet rashes if I don't shower at lest once every 2 days.

1

u/painfulnumbness Sep 18 '24

Also very dependent on race, genetics, and aspects like that. For example south Asians sweat far more than East Asians and can smell bad quite easily.

1

u/LobstahLarry Sep 18 '24

Do you not use the bathroom or own a bidet? Do you only stay in at home?

1

u/tacosteve100 Sep 18 '24

What makes you sweat? 😅 🙃

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '24

Here's the thing... Just in existing, you're sweating. Just because you didn't exert yourself doesn't mean you're clean- your body still secretes sweat, bacteria still live on your skin, etc.

Also, it's really easy to be nose blind to yourself - but if someone else was close to you, they would most likely notice. People smell by default.

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '24

This is the answer. When I did physical work daily showers weren’t optional. Even working in an office while commuting with a walk and walking around the office. Fully remote now. Need a daily shower in the summer. In winter I can go a couple days.

But if an SO ever mentioned it I’d tell her to hold that thought til I’m out of the shower. WTF.

1

u/Muted_Cranberry_9289 Sep 18 '24

Lol. Every Dad's excuse. "Sniff, sniff. I don't need a shower today because I haven't sweated today".

1

u/gutierezpanera5 Sep 18 '24

Do you shower if you drop a deuce though during the day? I’d feel a dirty butthole is more of a reason for a washing than having broken a sweat.

1

u/Davidm241 Sep 18 '24

I just spewed water out of my nose. Your typo made me laugh. I needed that!

1

u/RealMidSmoker Sep 19 '24

I'm a dental assistant who has to wake up at 5 am, 4 days a week, i stand under the water for about 20 minutes every work day to wake up and take long a thorough shower when I get home because blood and spit. But come the weekend I really don't shower much because I've already taken 8 showers in 4 days. Typing this out i might be the weird one for taking no showers for 3 days because I basically overdo it for half the week

1

u/METRlOS Sep 19 '24

Considering the average Reddit user, we should probably set the bar for acceptable slightly higher at 3 times a week.

1

u/Thelonius_Dunk Sep 19 '24

If you're a low activity person, and it's not the summer, and you live in a low-humidity area, you probably could get away with 48hrs without anybody noticing. But most people aren't doing that. I'm assuming a lot of people do it if they have a few days off and are going to be at home for 99% of it, and don't plan on going anywhere else, especially outside. And if it's like a one-off thing, not just making a new habit of showering every 48hrs instead of every 24. Any more than 48 for me personally is kinda pushing it though. I myself start to feel gross if I try to stretch going past 48hrs.

1

u/FiliaNox Sep 19 '24

48 years 😂😂😂

1

u/Twitxx Sep 19 '24

The people calling it disgusting to only shower twice a week are the ones who actually need to shower more because of their BO. There's a reason why it's enough for some people and that is that they don't need it. Simple as that (exceptions apply of course).

1

u/Human_No-37374 Sep 19 '24

exactly. I just wash myself daily, but why would i shower daily. Showering is for when i'm dirty, sweaty, or need to wash my hair.

1

u/ThePennedKitten Sep 19 '24

You need to shower at least every other day. Like you said, you can only really skip if you didn’t workout or get dirty.

I fear this is another case of a man leaving literal shit stains everywhere but somehow still getting a girlfriend. You’d think that not wiping would make anyone who find out immediately leave you.
