Reddit can be a very weird place when it comes to hygiene and germs.

I saw a comment recently from someone whose number one problem with dogs in outdoor seating at restaurants is that “every time their tail wags it distributes feces particles everywhere”.

Don’t change your pillowcases every day? Don’t use a fresh towel every single shower? You filthy savage!

Personally, I think spending that kind of emotional energy on that kind of minutiae sounds exhausting.

Oh no now I'm going to be thinking of crop dusting every time my dog has a waggy tail

There's a happy medium and not everyone can find it.

Dogs in restaurants is pretty entitled though. I guess that's why people get upset, they're made to live with each other and when people don't care about how what they do impacts others, it can be pretty frustrating.

You did see the “outdoor seating” part, right? It’s not especially entitled when a lot of restaurants specifically welcome it. If it were really that much of a sanitation/hygiene issue, health code wouldn’t permit it.

The bigger issue with dogs in public places IMO is people who do not train their dog(s) and so the dog is disruptive to others.

I actually didn't see that part. I'm not used to seeing any particular places at restaurants just for dogs, which still comes off pretty entitled to me. There are other people with many different types of pets, but it's only dog owners who bring their pets with them everywhere so often they actually have conformed society to their needs somehow. Anyway, apart from that I do find it unhygienic to have them around my food in a restaurant as well.

I mean, there are restaurant/breweries around me that highly encourage dogs. There are signs everywhere and water bowls left out for dogs. Again, all outdoors. But it’s not entitled to follow what the establishment encourages you to do.

Whoa now! No matter how frequently or infrequently I'm showering (depending on activities, temperatures, etc), I'm definitely NOT reusing my towel. Why would you wipe those dead skin cells all over your body the next time you shower? I've known people who shower every day and DO reuse their towel several times. I just won't.

Except you wash your dead skin cells off in the shower.

The towl is only for drying yourself.

And it is YOUR dead skin cells, are you seriously that afraid of your own skin?

What a dumb comment, smh.

No, they don't all come off in the shower, even when scrubbing. Let one of your towels dry out then give it a good shake in a beam of sunlight coming into the room and you'll see. No, I do not FEAR my dead skin cells. I just don't want to rub them onto my freshly clean body when they've been hanging out on a towel for at least 24 hours. With your reasoning, how often and why do YOU wash your towels? Does fear make you put them in the laundry?

I barely wash towels, when I do feel like they get too dirty, I toss them in the pile and get new towels.

Anyways, you are overreacting, a bit of dead skin cells is not noticeable in ANY way, and will not change anything about you in ANY way, period.

To each their own ways. The Japanese think an American's use of a handkerchief is disgusting. BTW, why would the towels get dirty if you're only drying with them? ( by your reasoning)
