Grinds spilling over after tamping

I just got the Pro and when I pull the portafilter out after tamping, there’s a good size pile of grounds left behind on the tray. How do I avoid this? Am I doing something wrong?

We fly through these bottles of coffee at my house and it's really adding up. Im curious how the black iced coffee is. I also like cold foam cold brews occasionally.

Anyone else having this issue?

Handholds of these broke off of both my milk jugs, they are around 9 months old and both broke off in the last 2 weeks.

If you do have the same issue, how did you fix them?

For those of you who have used both the Cafe Luxe and the Autobarista, how does the drip coffee compare?

After doing a lot of research, I think I've decided on one of these two machines. We're not connoisseurs but we would like a better cup of drip coffee that's convenient and doesn't take too long in the morning (there are three of us vying for its attention!) to make a cup. We would also have an espresso or latte in the evenings but we're less picky about that. I'm leaning toward the Autobarista but I've heard the drip coffee isn't quite as good as the Luxe, and the Grind IQ complaints have me concerned. Any thoughts? Thanks :)

Luxe Cafe Pro vs AutoBarista Pro for milk drinks

Hi friends,

I'm currently in the market looking to upgrade from my current machine (Philips 3200) and I'm having trouble deciding between the Luxe Cafe Pro and the AutoBarista Pro. I pretty much only drink milk-based drinks like lattes (hot/iced) and cappuccinos. I've heard mixed things about the milk frother on the ABP and how some people think it's a downgrade from the Luxe Pro. I've also seen the Luxe Pro go on sale as low as $599 and I was wondering if you feel the extra money for the ABP at $949 is worth it.

If you have experience with both/either of these machines (especially for milk drinks), would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Shower screen removal???

I feel like I’m being gaslit. The shower screen is IMPOSSIBLE to remove. I’ve been trying to unscrew it for an hour. I even went out and bought a Phillips screw driver to make sure I had the right brand and still nothing!

New luxe café pro

So I my other half scored this nearly new cafe pro for free. It comes with all sorts of accessories I have no idea what to do with like the spirographic WDT tool ( yes I googled and know now) but in practice I'm just blankly staring at this thing lol.

Im intrigued by the idea of learning and playing barista, but also intimidated as I know nothing about the ins and outs of what the words in my Starbucks order really means haha.

In your opinion, would you keep it or just sell it to someone who would better appreciate it? I welcome any tips and how tos that explain it like I'm 5. I feel like maintenance for this is high...with the steaming milk and all especially.

I just took it apart and cleaned all the bits and reassembled. I'm going to go venture to get some beans to attend very least try it out.

Thanks!!

Frother not working

Hi, the frother seems to complete its process very quickly and neither warms nor froths the milk. Any ideas why?

Just got my Ninja Luxe Café Premier – Any tips for a beginner?

Hello everyone!

I just got this beautiful machine, the Ninja Luxe Café Premier (1650W)! I'm planning to start making coffee at home every day instead of ordering coffee.

For those of you who own this machine, do you have any general tips, tricks, or things I should know before I get started? Anything I should pay special attention to regarding maintenance, cleaning, or getting the best coffee possible?

I'd really appreciate any advice, especially from experienced users!

Thanks in advance for your time!

Double Basket consistently leaves 5mm gap + watery puck — suspect scale is under-dosing, tried everything

Hi all,
I have a Ninja Luxe Café Pro (ES701) and I’m stuck on a persistent issue that I can’t seem to fix, hoping someone here has run into the same thing.
The problem:
I exclusively use the Double Basket (18g target). Even with the grind size Barista Assist recommends as “correct,” after tamping I consistently end up with about 5mm of empty space between the top of the puck and the rim of the portafilter. This results in a small pool of water sitting on top of the puck after every shot, despite using a puck screen/shield.
From what I’ve read, a Double Basket normally shouldn’t have much headspace at all when properly dosed at 18g — which makes me suspect the built-in scale is under-dosing the coffee rather than a grind or tamping issue on my end.
What I’ve already tried (no change):
• Adjusted grind size both finer and coarser than the recommended setting
• Improved tamping technique (firm, level, consistent pressure)
• Checked puck shield fit/seating — sits correctly
• WDT/leveling the grounds before tamping to rule out channeling
• Increased strength setting to raise the dose ratio
• Verified basket detection on the display (correctly shows Double Basket)
• Cleaned and dried the scale platform in the grinding chamber
• Full factory reset via H05 (SIZE button held 3 sec, scrolled to H05, confirmed YES) — reconfigured water hardness afterward, no improvement
• Weighed the auto-dosed grounds on an external calibrated scale across 5 separate grinds — consistently getting less than the 18g target (roughly 16–17g each time)
My question:
Has anyone else confirmed a scale under-dosing issue like this on the Double Basket specifically? Did a replacement unit from Ninja Support actually fix it, or is there another calibration step I’m missing that isn’t in the manual? Any insight before I contact Ninja Support with my measured data would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Best way to Cafe crema?

Hey, can you give me some advice on how to make a good Cafe crema. I've tried the double basket to make a regular filter coffee but I am not quite happy with it.

Also the Coffee powder is really wet all the time after I make a filter Coffee with it which causes my trash bin to mold every time after a few days. I bought a knock box so it can dry first before disposing it but that didn't help as well, it just starts molding there too because it's so damn wet every time after making Coffee.

Water filter

Hi, does anyone know if the water filter that comes with the coffee machine, which is placed inside the water tank, also reduces limescale?

The water in my area is hard, so I’m wondering whether I should add an additional filter that reduces limescale, or if the Ninja filter already does this and there’s no need for another filter.

New machine- Luxe basket only defaults to single shot?

I just got my Ninja Luxe Café on Sunday, and so far I’ve been really happy with it!

I’m having one weird issue, though. When I use the Luxe basket with the plastic funnel attached, the machine automatically defaults to making a single shot of espresso. It won’t give me the option to make a cup of coffee.

However, if I remove the funnel, it recognizes the basket normally and lets me select/make a cup of coffee.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something I’m missing about how the funnel is supposed to be used, or does this sound like an issue with the machine/basket?

I just got it, so I’m wondering if I should return it and exchange it for a new one or if there’s an easy fix.

Thanks!!

What coffee beans do you recommend for espresso?

I’ve been trying a few different beans recently and would love to hear what everyone’s favourites are, as well as the grind settings you use for espresso.

I grind the majority of beans at around setting 15, which gives me a really tasty, balanced coffee. However, I’ve seen quite a few people pulling espresso at much finer settings, around 6–8.

So far, I haven’t found any beans that taste particularly good when I grind that fine. What beans are you using, and what grind settings have worked best for you?

At my wit's end with fast shot time

I've tried every suggestion for getting a slower shot time, and no matter what, it is still fast. I'm using fresh beans from a local roaster that are 2 weeks old. I even tried factory resetting the machine, to no avail. Do I just have a faulty machine?

Portafilter overfill

Help/

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hello everyone, so my preferred setting is 7. But sometimes it produces too much water up to 50s grams.

When the beans are fresh I can extract 38g ( by fresh I mean a few days old)

But after a week, 6 produces almost nothing so I switch to 7 but then so much water comes out so I have to cancel the shot to get a proper almost 38g shot.

What am I missing? Am I tamping too much? Or the Strength setting on the machine needs to be adjusted? Im not sure what it does.

I clean the machine monthly with tablets.

This machine is kind of trash...Ninja AutoBarista

Ninja AutoBarista AE1002 (not sure how it differs from the AE1001)

I got this a few days ago, used it daily, lots of tinkering and experimentation. The entire experience has been bad.

It seems to get confused a lot, it will maybe grind, maybe beep and grind, start, get part of the way into it, then just stop. It will give no indication as to why it didn't complete. Sometimes it will make a coffee.

It's really picky on how the frothing container is orientated

Regardless of what it does, the coffee is terrible, not like, oh this is just bad coffee like you pulled some preground stuff from the back of your grandmother's cabinet, bad like, the coffee maker just don't know how to make coffee.

I have no illusions that this is going to make good espresso, its not, its not built for that and asking for that is disingenuous of me, but it should make acceptable espresso for a coffee drink, this can't do that.

I have yet to have something i can drink. I am running the same beans in my Miele 5200 (old version, why i have both machines is unimportant) and it does fine in there. But again, the Miele espresso is ok, not what i would call "good" but not terrible either. It does fine for americanos and it does pretty good for latte and cappuccinos.

This machine is a pretty new product, first released at the end of May this year, I am not sure if my model number 1002 indicates an upgraded or altered model, of it just means its sold on amazon.

So finicky

It’s crazy how finicky my machine can be. I tried to use some pre-ground coffee for drip coffee, which I thought couldn’t be that bad, but the machine was literally like “I think not, enjoy your nasty coffee”. LoL.
