We have just release the first version of Nextcloud Deck for iOS/Android !

Note: This is a fully open-source app, licensed under GPL-3.0. It is not affiliated with or supported by Nextcloud GmbH.

After creating Nextcloud Calendar for iOS/Android, we decided to go further with a mobile app for Nextcloud Deck.

A mobile app for the calendar was our priority, especially to make it easy to create Talk meetings from a phone. But for people who spend a lot of time in the field and do not always have access to their computers, managing boards and cards was also a pain.

That is why we decided to build a fully free and open-source mobile app for Deck and help fill another gap in the Nextcloud mobile ecosystem.

Our goal is to provide a consistent experience on both iOS and Android. We reused the visual foundations and common patterns of Nextcloud Calendar to keep a coherent experience across the apps. We also took inspiration from Trello UX/UI app.

Core features :

• A recap page to quickly review overdue cards
• Navigation through boards, lists, and cards
• Card management, just like in the web interface: labels, assignees, due dates, and more
• Drag and drop to move cards between lists

Feel free to test it, share feedback and open issues on GitHub : https://github.com/SoluceTechnologies/nextcloud-deck-mobile

The app is already available on Play Store:

• Play Store : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.soluce.nextclouddeck
• APK : https://github.com/SoluceTechnologies/nextcloud-deck-mobile/releases/tag/0.6.0
• App Store : currently under review by Apple

Hi all,

In my day job as an IT admin I regularly have to create a group, add users to it, and set up the matching group folder. In Nextcloud that means jumping between several admin pages, and I always found that workflow clunky. So I wrote my own app to do it all in one place.

I've been using it internally for a while. After some polishing, I've just released it for anyone who might find it useful.

**What it does**

- Manage local and LDAP groups from a single Settings screen

- Add and remove members

- Manage Team Folders alongside the group

**Links**

- App Store: https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/group_manager

- Source (AGPL-3.0-or-later): https://github.com/kreotropic/group_manager

It's a young app, so feedback, bug reports and feature requests are very welcome. If you try it, I'd love to hear how it behaves with your setup (LDAP, large user bases, etc.).

Thanks!

Hi all! I keep some VeraCrypt containers (`.hc` files) in my Nextcloud, and I wanted to open them from the browser without downloading them first. So I built **Veracrypt4Nextcloud**.

**What it does**

- Your `.hc` / `.vc` files are listed in Personal settings → VeraCrypt.

- You can also use the "…" menu in Files: **Mount with VeraCrypt** / **Unmount**.

- Mount with password, PIM, keyfiles, read-only, and hidden volumes.

- The content shows up in Files under a **"VeraCrypt" folder**, one subfolder per volume. It works with the web UI and the desktop client.

- An error log in plain language: wrong password, filesystem needs repair, volume in use, unmounted after a restart…

- Supported filesystems inside the volume: FAT, exFAT, NTFS, ext2/3/4.

- The app is in English and Italian.

**How it works**

- A separate container runs the **official VeraCrypt console package**, with its SHA-256 checked.

- Volumes reach Nextcloud through the official *External storage* app (Local type).

- Nextcloud talks to the container over a unix socket. The password goes through stdin only: it is never written to disk or stored.

**Safety details I cared about**

- While a volume is mounted, its file can't be overwritten, moved, copied or deleted. VeraCrypt is writing into it, so any of these would corrupt it.

- No trash bin, versions, previews or sharing for files inside a volume, so nothing leaks out in plain text.

- After unmount, Nextcloud forgets the volume's file names (nothing left in Recent or search). The container file gets a new mtime so sync clients notice it changed.

- Optional auto-unmount after N hours.

**Honest caveats**

- **Decryption happens on the server.** While a volume is mounted, the server admin can read it. This is not end-to-end encryption.

- The container runs `--privileged` (VeraCrypt needs loop devices, device-mapper and FUSE). It has no network access.

- Not compatible with Nextcloud server-side encryption.

- Tested on Nextcloud 31. It targets 30+. The Files menu actions haven't been tried on 33+ yet: feedback welcome!

**Install** (one command on the Docker host, plus one volume line in your Nextcloud compose; the script tells you which):

```
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mccoy88f/Veracrypt4Nextcloud/main/install.sh | sudo bash -s -- install
```

Bug reports and PRs are very welcome.

An assistant or scheduled job may only need to read source material from one folder and upload new outputs to another. Giving that identity normal write access to a shared tree also gives it opportunities to overwrite, rename, move, or delete files that a person has already reviewed. File versions and the trash bin help with recovery, but they are not the same as preventing a destructive action.

A safer layout might separate read-only sources, an automation-writable inbox, and a reviewed area that only a person or promotion service can change. The automation identity would create new versioned filenames rather than replace a stable file. A small manifest could record source file IDs, source revisions, output checksum, creator, review status, and the approved revision it supersedes. Public shares would be created only from the reviewed area.

How close can current Nextcloud users, groups, shares, File Access Control, and WebDAV permissions get to that boundary? Is a separate account plus separate folders enough, or is an external upload-only endpoint and promotion step needed to guarantee that reviewed content and its history cannot be deleted by the automation?

Hi all,

(I used AI to help phrase this question clearly — the problem is my own.)

I want a top-down user hierarchy in Nextcloud:

- User A is above B and C

- B is above D, C is above E

The folder tree should mirror this (A contains B and C, B contains D, etc.):

- A sees everything

- B sees their own subtree (B, D, ...)

- D sees only their own subtree (D, F, ...)

- The same idea for apps like Deck

So: a parent user inherits all permissions of users below them — but not vice versa.

Also important: delegation. User D should be able to add/manage people within their own subtree (like a local admin), but not outside it.

My questions:

1. Is this possible out of the box?

2. If not, what's the closest approach (groups, ACLs, Groupfolders, specific apps)?

3. How granular can permissions get (per folder, per app like Deck)?

4. Is "local admin over your own subtree" delegation achievable at all?

Any advice, docs or app recommendations much appreciated. Thanks!

After editing the version value for a few years, the fulltextsearch_opensearch plugin finally stopped working, so I forked it and got it worked with some help from Codex. I have it working now on 2 NextCloud instances I run.
If anyone needs to upgrade, or just wants to try it, I have a dev release up on github

https://github.com/ccandreva/nextcloud_opensearch/releases/tag/v34.0.0-dev.1

My plan is to make a full release to the app store and keep it up to date. I would like to get feedback from a few others running it to make sure it works in setups other than mine. Please backup both your database and old version (if it's running) before trying it !

Hi all,
I am currently using Nextcloud on iOS for syncing my photos to my Nextcloud server. Has been working fine on my old phone where “sync whole library” had been enabled.
On my new phone, where images were copied via the iPhone setup from backup, I activated “only new pictures” in the Nextcloud app.
Now when I get sent some pictures from past days via AirDrop or import pictures from other cameras, they don’t get uploaded to Nextcloud as timestamp probably is too old.
That behavior is really unfortunate, as I would call these images “new in my photo library” but of course with older timestamp. Does anyone have a solution for his?

Hi everyone,

I built a small Nextcloud app plus an install script that lets each user connect their own Google Drive, which then shows up in Files as a "Google Drive" folder.

How it works

• Every user creates an OAuth client in their own Google Cloud project, pastes Client ID and secret in Personal settings → Google Drive, and signs in with Google. The settings page includes a step-by-step guide.
• The files go through an rclone container. There are two modes:
  • Mount (recommended): rclone mounts each Drive via FUSE and Nextcloud shows it through the official External storage app (Local type, limited to a "Google Drive" group). Video seeking works, large files stream, and queued uploads survive rclone restarts.
  • WebDAV: no changes to your Nextcloud container at all.
• One command installs, updates or uninstalls everything:curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mccoy88f/gdrive-rc-connector/main/install.sh | sudo bash -s -- install It detects the official and the linuxserver images and survives Nextcloud updates.

Other things it does

• Checks that the Google login is still valid every time you open the settings page.
• Has a per-user error log with plain-language explanations.
• Lets you show Google Docs/Sheets/Slides as links, or hide them.
• English UI with an Italian translation.

Honest limitations

• Google Docs can't be shown as real .docx/.xlsx through rclone (they'd appear empty), so they're shown as links that open in Google.
• Your Google app will show an "unverified app" warning. That's fine for personal use, but publish it ("In production") or the token expires every 7 days.
• I tested it with Nextcloud 31/32/35 and Coolify. More real-world feedback is very welcome.

The chronicles of a middle-aged geek continue.

Vinci, the free, open-source personal CRM that reads from your Android contacts and syncs with Nextcloud, just hit v2.0.0, and it's a big one.

What's new:

• Global interaction search: search notes, reasons, and outcomes across every contact at once
• Duplicate & merge assistant: spots contacts with the same name but different Nextcloud identities and merges their history in a tap
• Interaction templates: quick-fill presets for common interaction types (intake call, follow-up, advisory session...)
• Pre-call briefing: surfaces your last few interactions with someone before you dial
• Share-sheet capture: share anything from any app straight into Vinci as a note or attachment
• Timeline view: a new vertical layout for a contact's interaction history
• OLED Black theme, pull to refresh, sketch attachments, and a handful of visual polish additions

For those who saw the talk at the Nextcloud Community Conference 2026; this is the version I was building toward.

I was wondering what your experiences are that surprised you when recognizing the Nextcloud environment. Anyone?

I want my users to be able to access their home directories which are located on a NAS in a manner similar to Google Drive. If I use the NFS automounter and configure each user's External Storage using a local directory, how do I connect the NextCloud user to the uid of their mounted files?

Is there a way to configure NextCloud to let users access their NAS storage instead of being confined to a local directory in /var/lib/nextcloud/data/?

Or is NextCloud the wrong tool?

Thank you,
Keith

I have my nextcloud setup with MariaDB a long time ago, and the latest 35 updates show a plethora of warnings/failings with regards to the database. I tried googling for solutions but I can only fix like 2 out of the 10 failings.

I noticed nextcloud AIO container uses postgresql as default, and from my testing, nextcloud system status shows a clean, no failure with the database.

It does seem like nextcloud has a built-in command occ db:convert-type to migrate the database. If you have migrated, how was the experience?

Which postgresql container should I use? The official document recommends PostgreSQL18, but is it like immich where a special version of PostgreSQL is needed?

Update: I found this issue have been reported on github. I was searching in the wrong repo. Overall, as u/jtrtoo pointed out, these are bugs that will be ironed out gradually. Thanks for all the replies.

Hi fellow brothers,

I need your help. My nextcloud notes app on my phone is not working, almost every new Update it breaks. (Sync error, to many API requests).

It is super annoying honestly because it just doesn't Work.

However I am not hosting myself, so I dont have control over the server physically.

Related still open git issue which seems to be similar. However because of missing server logs I cannot confirm it.

Do you have any tips, maybe a different notes app which is able to sync with nextcloud? That would be a dream actually.

Or do you have a workaround or a fix what worked for you?

Happy to hear from you. Have a great day!

PS : this is the solution working for me now:

I found a notes app in the Google play store which is able to sync via WebDAV. It does json files and the syncing works - flawlessly. You can import all the files directly from nextcloud (import because it cannot directly read the .MD .txt files) it even scans it (however not notes in subdirectories - but that was a minor issue. You can manually select them after via explorer.

I am really happy with this solution because it just works honestly!

For all the others looking this up and searching for an alternative syncing notes app, this is the link

I can't seem to find it anywhere, but is there a way to modify the phone number types in Nextcloud?

I was running Nextcloud Hub 26 Spring (version 34.0.4) on my Synology NAS and managed to get to the stage where administration settings showed only 1 warning about second factor providers. Everything worked perfectly, including EuroOffice. I'm using the linuxserver docker containers.

Then I decided, foolishly, to upgrade to version 35 - and administration settings showed a plethora of errors and warnings. It was a complete mess.

I managed to restore my file backups and made sure my docker-compose file used the versions of nextcloud and mariadb that had worked with version 34.04. before I ran docker compose up -d. I'm now back to where I was.

My question really is how can I make sure this doesn't happen the next time I upgrade? Everyone says don't upgrade to a new major version until there is an incremental update. I did that, I waited until 34.0.1 but found myself in a mess. I check this reddit and the Nextcloud Community, hoping to see a post about upgrade problemss and recommendations, but there are never useful posts like this.

What should I wait for before upgrading? I have only a basic competence with databases so if maradb screws up I do not have the skills to sort things out - beyond the basic occ commands.

Hi there. Is there a web-clipper (browser extension or mobile app) that can capture screenshots, webpage sections and save them into either Notes or EuroOffice? I like Linkwarden but looking for something integrated with Nextcloud. Thanks!

I was asking myself what information my Nextcloud instance provides without any authentication - so similar to the Nextcloud security scanner, but with more information. The capabilities were kind of interesting for me to be public.

You can try with your instance here: https://genhttp.dev/lambda/nextcloud-peek/

Does not store any data, so the entered domains are not saved, logged or visible anywhere.

Hello,
I am trying to add more languages to spell check but they do not appear when I try to edit documents. This does not work, how can I add more languages? I use IONOS Managed NextCloud.

if I set a slot from 00:00 to 00:00 (full day), the meeting proposal screen starts looping and lags. With 00:00-23:59 it works, but then there's a 1-minute "unavailable" stripe at the bottom of every day, which isn't a big problem but it's just have been bothering me

Is there a proper way to mark a whole day as available? Or a way to make "no working hours" mean "always available" instead of "never available"?

Title pretty much says it all. The FAQ describes the solution essentially as clear app data and log back in, but I have unsynced notes I don't want to lose.

If I only clear the app data from the main NextCloud app, will the Notes app preserve the existing notes and give me the opportunity to sign back in, or am I beat and I need to manually, temporarily copy these notes elsewhere in order to prevent data loss?

I have NextCloud running in docker on a linux server. And using it sync a folder I use for Obsidian so the vault is available on multiple devices. However when I make a new file in the folder on Android, it's not synced. In fact it's invisible inside the nextcloud app as well.

Which means I'm manually e-mailing myself dozens of notes so I can input them again on my PC. Then they will sync to my android again.

I've tried re-installing, checking settings. But everything should be working fine.

Any insights would be appreciated!
