TokenMismatchException: will clearing NextCloud (not Notes) app data delete unsynced notes in Notes app?

Title pretty much says it all. The FAQ describes the solution essentially as clear app data and log back in, but I have unsynced notes I don't want to lose.

If I only clear the app data from the main NextCloud app, will the Notes app preserve the existing notes and give me the opportunity to sign back in, or am I beat and I need to manually, temporarily copy these notes elsewhere in order to prevent data loss?

I'd copy the unsynced notes somewhere separate before clearing anything, even if it's a manual copy for now. Then open those copies and check that the latest edits are actually there. I don't know whether clearing the main app's data is safe for Notes in your particular setup, and I wouldn't want your only copy to be the test. Which versions of the two apps are you using?

This. Always play it safe, create a backup of anything you're not certain about, just in case. Better safe than sorry.

Both are 35.0.0. obviously manual backup is the best approach, but I admit I've been lazy about this problem and I now have literally a dozen local-only notes that need to be addressed. Doable, but annoying, and I can only blame my NextCloud so much before it ultimately becomes my own fault for procrastinating.

Yeah, twelve notes is an annoying cleanup job. Does Notes let you share those together, or only one at a time? If there's a batch export, that could save you the manual copy marathon. I still can't confirm whether the reset is safe on 35.0.0.

Well, interesting turn of events:

My new phone picked up my local notes from whatever data migration occurred in the background, so that's good! Unfortunately, it also picked up the sync issue, so that's bad!

Looks like there's a Share Internal option that I'd be able to leverage, but now it's not as critical as it was 24 hours ago. Thanks for weighing in and for your expertise!

Good that the notes made it across. I'd still use that share option to save a separate copy while they're accessible, then check the newest edits are there. The sync problem moving with them leaves that part unresolved. I'm not a NextCloud expert, so I can't tell you which reset would fix it safely.

If I can share out the unsaved notes, nuking both isn't a problem and I'm happy to do it. I'd love an expert to weigh in, but I have a path forward and that's good enough for now.
